President

Dear DC Pearls III Foundation Board of Directors, Members, and Supporters,

Like the year 2020, 2021 was a challenging year as we continued to navigate the world

virtually. However, because of you, our donors, we have successfully strengthened our

programs and widened our impact, and as President of the DC Pearls III Foundation, I would

like to say thank you. Our 2021 Annual Report highlights the success of our programs and

services, which would not be possible without you.

Your continued financial support, along with our community partners, allowed us to award

$29,000 in scholarships and empower nearly 200 students through various programs,

including our Virtual HBCU Tour.

In 2021 we successfully held our fundraising activities virtually. This year, we completed

over 30 program activities with the help of 18 community partners. In support of minority

women and businesses, we promoted over 195 minority-owned businesses where

members made purchases of nearly $700,000 and provided community-based workforce

development workshops. Our Health Awareness programs promoted active and healthy

lifestyles and included such programs as Tone Up Tuesdays, Wellness Wednesdays, and

our ever-popular Walking Club. Our Walking Club brought the community together. One

hundred thirty-five walkers made over 20 million steps.

In addition to our Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, the new health initiatives of a

Walking Club, Tone Up Tuesdays, and Wellness Wednesdays were launched to promote

active and healthy lifestyles. We engaged our community through financial services by

promoting women and minority-owned businesses and provided community-based

workforce development workshops while also forming new partnerships to provide needed

services and cultural awareness for our youth.

As it was in 2020, all our fundraising efforts were virtual. Our annual Jazz Brunch Auction

was a virtual event, as was our Treasured Pearl Raffle. Both events were very successful.

These virtual events were added to our existing online campaigns - Amazon Smile, DC One

Fund, DoMore24, and Giving Tuesday. With the help of 18 community partners, 11 grants

and sponsors, and 1,656 donors, we exceeded our goal.

I want to thank the Foundation Board members for your generous donations, community

involvement, and partnerships we have gained over the past year. Thanks to you,
we can continue to build upon the foundation and make a lasting impact
within the Washington, DC community. Thank you for your continued
support and dedication!

Saundra R. Roberts

Executive Director

To Our Members and Supporters,

I am honored to report that our success continued in 2021 thanks to you, our supporters.

Your commitment is unwavering and allowed us to navigate the second year in a virtual

environment due to the global pandemic.

Our mission to sponsor community services programs and award college scholarships

was funded by five diverse categories. Event fundraisers continue to be our primary

source of funding however, direct program fundraising, member/general donations,

crowdfunding activities, and receiving two grants accounted for 34% of our annual

income. The existing strategy to diverse our income streams has proven to be very

beneficial.

The top contributing factor to our success for 2021was welcoming 713 new donors that

represents the single largest one-year growth we have ever experienced. Our ability to

engage new and existing donors results from our targeted marketing facilitated by our

donor management platform. Like in 2020, the virtual environment continued to reduce

event space expenses while also allowing us to expand our donor reach geographically.

Another great contribution to our success is and has always been the steadfast

commitment of our Board of Directors and Foundation Members. We implemented three

new strategic initiatives in 2021 that will further strengthen our financial position. These

include establishing the DC Pearls III Foundation, Inc. Educational Scholarship

Endowment, the Building Acquisition Fund, and an Investment Account. Each initiative

demonstrates the strong financial acumen of our Board and our Members has we strive

to expand our services to the community. As the Executive Director, I am honored and

humbled to serve along with you.

DC Pearls III Foundation is positioned well for an even better 2022. We look forward to

working with our community partners to continue delivering unparalleled community

service programs locally and globally. We are also proud to have the ability to increase

our scholarship award levels annually to Washington, D.C. high school seniors who are

entering college as freshman. We are forever grateful to you, our supporters, for your

belief in our mission propels our success.

We encourage you to stay empowered and engaged with us!
