Scholarship
Impact
Our educational scholarship funds support Washington, D.C. high school graduates
to continue their education at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).
Scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate academic excellence,
leadership skills and community service. A minimum of four $2,000 scholarships
are awarded annually to students who have been accepted and plan to attend an
HBCU.
In addition to awarding scholarships to high school seniors, our scholarship funds
also provide recipients with funding for an additional three years at $1,000 per year
provided the recipient meets the qualifications. Most recipients requesting the
continuing fund maintain a 2.5 or higher grade point average.

D.C. Pearls III Foundation, Inc. is the nonprofit fundraising arm of
the Rho Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. In
the year of 2000, Rho Mu Omega voted to establish the Foundation
as its fundraising partner to aggressively pursue grants, corporate
sponsorships, and other donations. Two years later, D.C. Pearls III
was incorporated as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
The D.C. Pearls III Foundation and Rho Mu Omega jointly sponsor
fundraising events to fund our community service programs. Our
major fundraising events include the Paint and Pearls Party, the
Jazz Brunch Auction and the Debutante Cotillion. Our fundraising
efforts are vital to our shared mission of awarding scholarships to
area high school students and providing dedicated and committed
service to the D.C. community.
