What is the Youth Pledge
The Youth Pledge was an important milestone in the history of
the Indonesian independence movement. This pledge was
pronounced and considered as a spirit to affirm the ideals of the
establishment of the Indonesian state.
Youth Pledge Day falls on October 28 each year. Youth Pledge
Day is commemorated as a tribute to the historical events of the
nation where youths took an oath issued on October 28, 1928.
The Youth Pledge is one of the milestones that has
made all Indonesians unite. The youth from the ends
of the West to the East of Indonesia all gathered to
unite to realize the ideals of independence.
From this it can be concluded that the Youth Pledge
teaches us to continue to maintain national unity
and integrity and eliminate disputes with each other.
What the Youth Pledge Means
for the Millennial Generation
The meaning of the youth pledge sentence tells us
young Indonesians that we must fight for the
independence of the Indonesian nation, maintain the
unity and integrity of the Indonesian nation, and apply
a single diversity attitude. As a millennial generation, be
a hopeful young generation who can continue the
aspirations of the Indonesian nation and become a
millennial youth who can explore the potential that
exists in their region so that they can contribute to their
respective regions which will have a big impact on
Indonesia.
Like the first youth pledge to say that we, the sons and daughters of
Indonesia, admit that we are one blood, Indonesian land.
This means uniting the struggle of the Indonesian nation.
The struggle of the youth in fighting for independence is very great,
so that we as the youth of the present generation must maintain
the integrity of the Indonesian state.
The second youth pledge reads, One Nation, the
Indonesian Nation which means that even though we
come from different tribes or from different regions,
the Indonesian nation must remain united.
For the current generation, we can maintain unity by
not differentiating between other peoples' ethnicities,
races or religions.
And in the third youth pledge which reads Upholding
the Unity Language, Indonesian which has meaning
even though Indonesia has various ethnicities and races
but we only use Indonesian.
We as young people in this largest archipelago should
be proud, because we can be united by one language,
namely Indonesian.
We as the Youth of the Current Generation
Can Maximize the Youth Pledge by Means
1. Be open to receiving new thoughts and experiences.
2. Contribute to advancing Indonesia by volunteering.
3. Supports local Indonesian products.
As the current generation we must be proud to be
Indonesian youth. We must always be positive, not
differentiate from others, and still be proud to use
Indonesian.
