July was National Parks and Recreation Month and in California, it’s presented as the zestier
“Parks Make Life Better!” Month. How do they make life better, not just in July, but all year round?
Let me count a few ways:
Parks help us recreate, rest, re-energize, reboot, relax, resolve, register, read, release,
reawaken, reason, resolve, realign, realize, ready, reassess, reaffirm, recondition. You get the point.
Our Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan will provide the vision for these activities in the
City’s spaces for years to come. Visit www.BelmontPROSplan.com for more information about the
journey to achieve our plan.
This summer we’re also returning (another “re” verb!) some signature programs to their
pre-COVID operations. Camp SOAR campers in both age groups are once again filling Twin Pines Park
with their joyful laughter. Swimmers and Learn-to-Swimmers are back at the Carlmont High School
pool. Belmont Park Boosters just completed a full slate of Summer Concerts in the Meadow. The
Holiday Craft Faire artists and eager buyers will grace the buildings of Twin Pines Park in November.
It’s good to be back!
