FOREWORD

This Handbook contains essential information for the students of the
M.Sc. Programs in Immunology (International Program), Department
of Immunology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol
University. It is a guide for students providing the information about
what to do during their studies from the beginning until graduation.
This handbook also provides description of courses organized by the
program and information of the academic and pastoral support. The
content covered in this handbook are not only based on specific
guidelines from M.Sc. program but also the Graduate Program
Regulations announced by the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Mahidol
University.

This handbook cannot be finished without working by our support staff of the Graduate
Program in Immunology.

I hope that this “M.Sc. Program in Immunology Student Handbook” will be useful during your
studies at our program.

M.Sc. Programs in Immunology (International Program), as part of the Faculty and University,
has set the program objectives to align with the University’s and the Faculty’s vision and mission.
The main aim of the M.Sc. Program in Immunology is to educate and train students to become a
researchers/academic staff in the field of immunology and biosciences. Additionally, it is to delivery
of education and training to individuals wishing to continue their studies to doctoral or PhD level. It
is expected that graduates from the program will boost research activities as well as participate in
research communities and fulfil the demand of socio-economic development of Thailand and the
foreign students’ countries. In this regard, the objectives of our program have been defined.

ORIENTATION

When students have successfully registered to the program, they are expected to attend all orientation
days organised by

Mahidol University

The orientation ceremony for graduate students organised by the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Mahidol
University is the start of your time at the University. Introductory sessions are arranged to explore the
University. Furthermore, you will receive a health check-up service. Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital
also arranges an orientation at the Faculty level.

At the Immunology Program level, an introduction to the program, courses offered, and the staff involved
in your study will be presented on the orientation day. This is also a chance to meet and socialise with
your future classmate. Timetable and venue of your introductory program session will be announced and
sent to you via e-mail.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
M.Sc. students are required to fulfil a coursework that can be taken mostly during the first year. After
finishing coursework, students are required to conduct research under the supervision of their advisors.
In Year 2 Semester 1, M.Sc. students are recommended to present their thesis proposal for approval
from their thesis proposal committee.
In Year 2 Semester 2, it is advisable that students should sit in their thesis defense when the
manuscript is ready for publication in proceedings or scientific journals.

Prior to starting lab work, students are required to take an online course for laboratory safety called
“MU-lab Pass”. The certificate of having passed MU-lab pass test should be attached to the E-porfolio

Only Thai students, if your English proficiency score does not meet the requirement for graduation,
students should register to take the English proficiency test or attend English courses provided by
Language Centre, Faculty of Graduate Studies, Mahidol University. Students should meet the English
proficiency requirement within the first semester of their studies.

Current classes offered for registration in each academic year can be found and registered online via e-

You can contact the course director directly for the class detail before the registration.

Students are responsible to completing all prerequisites prior to enrolling in courses and ensure that the
courses are correctly registered via the system. It is also the responsibility of students to check your
student email account regularly if there is any registration of courses or changes to the timetable.

Students with outstanding fees will be refused to register for courses.

IMPORTANT: The courses must be registered in the semester that is offered.

GRADE CRITERIA

Examination format and grade criteria are described in course syllabus that will be handed out to
students on the first day of class. Courses offered by the M.Sc. Program in Immunology are also available
on the Immunology Program website (http://www.si.mahidol.ac.th/th/department/
immunology/web/en/index.html).

Students are not allowed to take the examination in the course that they have excessive absences.
Please contact to the course director for the course attendance policy.

At the end of every semester, students’ scores will be announced through Mahidol University’s website
(http://www.student.mahidol.ac.th/Systems/Authen/StudentLogin.asp) and the grades will be formally
recorded in your academic transcripts.

Specific appeals regarding the coursework or course assessment can be made directly, by in-person or
e-mail, to the lecturers and/or course coordinators as well as to the Immunology Program director. Also,
students can fill the appeal form that is available on the Program’s website and at the back of this
handbook to issue any concerns to the program for consideration.

PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL SKILLS DEVELOPMENT (SOFT SKILLS)

Professional and Personal Skills Development (Soft skills) are transferable skills that are important to
promote students future career. People who has the best technical skill to advance their career but if
they do not have soft skills, it may nearly impossible to climb up the corporate ladder. When hard or
technical skills are combined with soft skills, it is the perfect combination that gives people ahead
advantages in their personal as well as professional life. Soft skill development is the ELO4 of M.Sc.
program in Immunology and it is a requirement from Faculty of Graduate Studies, Mahidol University to
participate in the Professional and Personal Skills Development activities that are categorised into 4
skills:

1. Communication and Language skills
2. Leadership and management skills
3. Creative and Innovation skills
4. Information technology skills
For graduation, student must spend at least 3 hours taking part in each skill and pass at least 1 activity
in every required skill. A skill development activity which students undertake must cover four skills and
must not be less than 12 hours. Students can choose and register for the activities through the website
which will have a course details and schedule of activities. More information, please refer to

SOFT SKILLS SELF-ASSESSMENT

In addition to Professional and Personal Skills Development organized by the Faculty of Graduate Studies,
students can attend in skill development activities organized by the Program in Immunology or Faculty
of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University. However, students must participate in at least one skill
development activity held by the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

M.Sc. Program in Immunology has developed soft skills assessment form for students to do self-evaluation
every semester. Major advisors and 3 evaluators chosen by the students and their major advisors are
participated in students’ performance evaluation. The soft skill evaluation form in google form format.
The students and the major advisor will be ask to fill the form at the end of their first year. After that,
it will be done at the end of every semester for evaluation. Scores from the evaluation is expected to
guide students’ area of improvement. Award for the best soft skill performance will be announced for
encouragement. The content in the form can be found in the section “SOFT SKILLS SELF-ASSESSMENT
FORM”.

CHOOSING YOUR MAJOR ADVISOR

After accepting to the program, the successful applicants have an opportunity to meet their potential
advisors who are academic staff in the Immunology Program. “Meet your advisor” is the day that the
advisors will share and describe their research interest(s) and project(s).
Students have a chance to visit laboratories in the Immunology Program to explore lab environment and
the facility provided. This “Lab visit” event is set up to help students to choose their major advisor.
After decision making, students indicate 3 choices of their possible advisors, in order of preference.
With the assistance of the program, the committee will match students with their major advisor. The
preferences of both students and instructors are considered.
Thesis advisor choices are subject to final approval by the program committee and appointed by the
Program director.
Advisors would be reassigned as necessary to assure a close relationship between the areas of interest
of the student and advisor. The appeal form should be submitted
Students should have their major advisor at the beginning in the first semester of their studies.

CONTINUATION REQUIREMENTS

Students must achieve an overall GPA at least 3.0 to continue their studies in the program.
Students who have any grade of required courses below a B will be brought to the attention and
discussed by the Program committee for possible academic probation.
Students are allowed to continue coursework if any grade of elective courses below a B but the
cumulative GPA is not less than 3. Students may take extra courses to improve the overall GPA that
meet the graduation requirements.

TRANSFER FROM M.SC. TO PH.D. PROGRAMS WITHOUT COMPLETING
MASTER'S REQUIREMENTS

Students who are studying in the M.Sc. Program in Immunology may be eligible to transfer from a M.Sc.
program into a Ph.D. program if they have completed the following requirements:

− Complete the first year of required coursework at the Master’s Degree level and
− Have a GPA more than 3.50 and
− The overall GPA class rank is in the top third or fall within top 20% of class rank percentile in the

Master’s Degree level and
− Students must be nominated by their major advisor and approved by the Immunology Program

Management Committee
− Fill and submit the complete form AS – 3 –07 form with approval from the Program director to

the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Mahidol University

Please note: The start date of the doctoral program will be recorded as the first registration to the
master’s program.

TERMINATION

Under the Mahidol University’s regulation, the Faculty of Graduate Studies will submit name of the
students to the President to terminate student status if

− Obtain semester GPA less than 2.5 for 2 consecutive semesters
− Unable to graduate within a maximum time frame which is 5 years for Master’s degree
− Not paid registration and tuition fees for each semester, including any late penalty fees accrued,

even though student has already registered or has not registered for a regular semester
− Not follow the temporary suspension of studies (Leave of Absence) policy

− Commit fraud during an examination

Immunology program also reserves the right to terminate the students' status if their qualifications are
under one or more of these conditions:
− Obtaining a grade in any required course below B
− Taking a leave for 2 consecutive semesters without the approval of their major advisor
− Breaking of University’s rules and regulations
− Deficient performance in thesis defense

MONITORING SYSTEM

Major advisor is a key role in monitoring students on the progress of research project by providing advice
and mentoring, as well as feedback. Advisors have main responsibilities to help students to understand
the requirements of the degree program, ensure timelines and milestones are met and maintain an up-
to-date record for each student. Students have responsibilities to ensure the graduation requirements
will be met by seeking further help from their advisor when needed.

SSSIt is advisable for all research students to establish a schedule of regular meetings with their
supervisors, at least once a month. Communicating in person, over e-mail or over the phone is
acceptable.

During Year 1, Semester 2 (before Immunology Seminar), major advisors should discuss about thesis
topic, objectives and research plan with their advisee. This will be benefits for students to start review
their research subject and may also help to decide the topic for students present in the SIIM619
Immunology Seminar course. After thesis subject is addressed, students may start a literature review
and do some research experiments having a preliminary data for developing a thesis proposal. It is
suggested that students should register for thesis and sit in the thesis proposal examination within Year
2, Semester 1.

After register for thesis, at this point, a co-advisor and/or an external advisor should be appointed by
the major advisor.

Changing advisors or members of thesis advisory committee can be requested upon approval by the Major
advisor, Program director and Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

IMPORTANT: At the end of every semester, the major advisor will assess and report student’s
performance and research progress with an agreement of advisee (GR. 42 Form) to the Program
director and to the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

ETHICS

Students whose research project involves human beings must undergo training courses in the area of
Ethics in Human Research provided by the Faculty of Graduate Studies or Faculty of Medicine Siriraj
Hospital before conducting their research. The certificate of training completion must be submitted to
the Ethics Committee for Research in Humans, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital for approval. For more

Similarly, students whose research involves animals for experimental purposes must take a training
course for conducting research using animal subjects provided by the Siriraj Laboratory Animal Research
and Care Centre, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital. The certificate of completion must be submitted
to the Siriraj Animal Care and Use Committee, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital for approval. Details
about the workshops and request for animal ethics are available in this website:

Any documents certifying for experiments involving human beings or animals for experimental purposes
must be attached in the complete thesis's appendix / dissertation's appendix. After passing the thesis
defense, the students must officially notify the termination of the project to the committee.

THESIS EVALUATION AND PROCEDURES

Passing the examinations is assessed using the rubrics. You can find the information in the “other”
section. It is advisable to read this in advance for preparing yourself foe evaluation.

THESIS PROPOSAL EXAMINATION

Students who have completed coursework in the Year 1 are expected to take their thesis proposal
examination within Year 2 Semester 1. Students submit the name of their major advisor and thesis
proposal title to the Program director (GR. 44 Form). The form is then submitted to the Faculty of
Graduate Studies, Mahidol University.

Requirements
 Pass every required courses
 Cumulative GPA  3.0

 Pass the English competence standard of graduate Students, Mahidol University
 Thesis proposal submitted to the Thesis Proposal Examination Committee, at least 15 working

days before the examination date.
 Submit GR.39 Form to the Faculty of Graduate Studies within 2 weeks before the day of

examination.
 Approved by the Thesis Proposal Examination Committee

Examiners
Thesis Proposal Examination Committee, at least 3 members nominated by the major advisor, including
the major advisor and at least two full-time instructors of Mahidol University or external examiner. The
Chair of thesis proposal committee must be the major advisor.

Program director will appoint the name list of thesis proposal committee to the Faculty of Graduate
Studies (GR. 39 Form).

Assessment format
Thesis Proposal Examination is designed to evaluate a student’s ability to plan, perform and
communicate independent research. Students must produce a thesis proposal report that should contain
Thesis Title, an Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results to date, Discussion, References and a
detailed thesis plan. The quality of the thesis proposal is an important part of the evaluation.

On the day of thesis proposal examination, the student will be asked to give an oral presentation in
public that should be about 30-40 minutes. Committee members will ask questions during the
presentation, followed by discussion. The student may be asked to leave the room so that committee
members can evaluate the proposal privately. Rubrics will be used for assessment. The evaluation rubrics
can be found at the back of this handbook.

Timelines are important in evaluating the feasibility of the student’s thesis project. A timeline for
research plan and expected output should be included in the thesis proposal.

Students need to revise the proposal according to the recommendation of the committee. The
revised proposal must be made within 90 days.
− Not Pass
Students will be required to retake the examination within the time frame determined by the
committee.

The result of thesis proposal examination is reported to the Program director (GR. 33 Form).

If students pass the examination with conditions or not pass, the revised result is reported to the Program
director (GR. 37 Form).

After thesis proposal is approved, thesis advisory committee will be appointed by the Program director
(GR. 1 Form). This committee consists of thesis major advisor and at least one co-advisor who are
nominated by the major advisor.

At the end of every semester, the major advisor assesses student’s performance and research progress.
Students must fill a progress report (GR.42 Form) together with their major advisor and the thesis
advisory committee that is then submitted to the Program director and to the Faculty of Graduate
Studies. The outcome from the report can be “P”, “S”, and “U” that stand for In progress, Satisfied,
and Unsatisfied, respectively. Students who have “P” for 4 consecutive semesters will be brought to the
attention and discussed by the committee for an action plan. The minutes must be submitted to the
Program that will be forwarded to the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

THESIS DEFENSE

According to the study plan, students are expected to finish all laboratory work and thesis writing within
2 semesters after register for thesis. Information about thesis preparation and submission, please refer

Students who are allowed to defend their thesis and are then awarded the degree, must meet the
following requirements:

Requirements
 Pass every required and elective coursework
 A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
 Pass thesis proposal examination
 Submit GR. 2 Form
 Submit the first few pages of thesis (from cover to abstract) to the staff of Academic Services
Section at Faculty of Graduate Studies, Salaya Campus for a brief check on the thesis format
 Submit the completed thesis to the Thesis Defense Committee, at least 15 working days before
the examination date.
 At least 1 article must be published or accepted for publication in the peer-reviewed journal or
the conference’s proceeding If not, it is advisable to having a manuscript ready for submission
before taking the thesis defense.

Examiners
Thesis Defense Committee, at least 3 members will be nominated by the major advisor and appointed
by Program director (GR. 2 Form) including:

1. Major advisor
2. Co-advisor
3. External examiner (At least 1 external examiner)
Chair of thesis defense committee must not be either the major advisor or co-advisor.

Assessment format
Thesis defense is a public defense which consists of an oral presentation of the thesis (30-45 min),
followed by questioning by the examiners and the audience. After a few public questions, the audience
will be asked to leave the room while the committee asks the candidate some questions in private. Then,
the candidates will be asked to leave the room so that committee members may consult and discuss
about the student’s performance on the written thesis and oral examination and rubrics will be used for
assessment. The evaluation rubrics can be found at the back of this handbook.
The chair of the committee is responsible for finalizing the result.

Possible outcomes
− Pass
− Pass with conditions
Students need to revise the thesis according to the recommendation from the committee within
90 days from the examination day.
− Not Pass
Students must retake the oral presentation and pay for the retake defense examination fee.
Timeframe for retaking the examination is determined by the thesis defense committee. If the
condition cannot be met, a FAILED grade will be assigned.

The result of thesis defense is reported to the Program director (GR. 3 Form).
If students pass the defense with conditions or not pass, the revised result is reported to the Program
director using GR. 4 Form approved by the Chair of thesis defense committee and major advisor. The
entitled page and approval page are then signed by the thesis advisory committee and the thesis defense
examination committee after passing the defense exam.
IMPORTANT: If the article which is a part of your thesis has not been published yet within one year
after you pass your thesis defense, you must report to the Program stating the reason (s) of delay.
An officially notification of the delayed will be signed off by your major advisor and the Program
director to the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

FINAL THESIS SUBMISSION

After passing the defense exam, student should bring the original copy of the complete thesis both hard
copy and an electronic file to the staff of Academic Services Section at Faculty of Graduate Studies for
checking the thesis format. Please note: The service takes at least two working days.

Moreover, abstract of the thesis must be checked for the English Grammar. Students should contact the
Language Center Staff on the 2nd floor of Graduate Studies Building, Salaya Campus. Abstract should be
in a double space format.

After correcting, students should submit the final version of the abstract together with Entitled Page
and Approval Page signed by the Program director and dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital. Then,
the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies is the last person to sign off.

The final thesis (one original and one copy) plus a word file and PDF file on a CD should be submitted to
the Faculty of Graduate Studies within 21 days (including holidays) of the defense date. A fee for late
submission is charged.

IMPORTANT: The "delayed submission" cannot be later than 90 days (including holidays) after the
defense date. Otherwise, the Faculty of Graduate Studies can cancel the thesis defense result and
the student must register and re-start the entire thesis processes i.e. starting from thesis proposal
examination.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

M. Sc.(Immunology)

1. Students must complete the program within a maximum time frame (5 years).
2. Students must complete all coursework with a grade of the required courses not lower than B

and with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00.
3. Students must pass the English Proficiency Examination:

− an IELTs score with a minimum of 5 or
− a TOEFL-IBT score with a minimum of 54 or
− a TOEFL-ITP score with a minimum of 480 or
− MU GRAD test score with a minimum of 60
4. Students must pass the Professional and Personal Skills Development (Soft skills) at least 1 activity
in every (4) required skills.
5. Students must complete their thesis research and pass the oral thesis proposal examination and
public thesis defense.
6. Submit the complete thesis together with abstract and CD to the Faculty of Graduate Studies
7. The thesis or part of the thesis must be accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal or
the conference’s proceedings, at least 1 article.
8. Study program affiliations of the student must be indicated in the students’ publication as
Graduate program in Immunology, Department of Immunology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj
Hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand.
9. Students receiving scholarship are responsible to ensure that output(s) required by their sponsor
has been achieved to fulfil requirement before graduation.

For graduation, the Program director submits the request for student's graduation to Faculty of Graduate
Studies (GR. 5 Form) before authorization of degree by the Mahidol University Council. A certificate of
graduation, an official transcript, detailing examinations taken and results achieved are issued
automatically to the graduating students and post to their contact addresses.

IMPORTANT: To request the degree, the student must complete the GR. 5 Form that can be
downloaded from this link: http://www.grad.mahidol.ac.th/en/current-students/application-form-
thesis.php, attached with the published article which is the part of the thesis. Then, student should
bring the original copy of the document and one copy to our admin staff of the Programs in
Immunology (Ms. Benjawan) to forward the document to the Program director to sign off. The
document will be then submitted to the Faculty of Graduate studies.
If you submit the document to the Faculty of Graduate Studies directly by yourself, you must provide
a copy of them to Ms. Benjawan.

APPEAL PROCEDURE
Students can raise and inform any concern to the M.Sc. program officers or to the Program director
directly, in person, telephone or e-mail as well as using the appeal provided at the back of this handbook.
The program committee is responsible to investigate and decide the outcome.
Specific appeals regarding the coursework or course assessment can be made directly to the lecturers
and/or course coordinators as well as to the Program director.
Furthermore, appeal system has been set by the Mahidol University that student can access directly to
the appeal procedures (http://www.grad.mahidol.ac.th/grad/complain /HelpLogin.php?lang=en).

AWARDS & PRIZES
For graduate students, Mahidol University has awards and prizes for students’ academic achievement.

For example, you would win the Distinguished Thesis Award Distinguished Thesis Award, 50,000 THB and
a certificate for a Doctoral level or 30,000 THB and a certificate for a Master's degree level. The
Outstanding Thesis Award is also granted, 25,000 THB and a certificate for a Doctoral level or 15,000
THB and a certificate for a Master's degree level.
Recording as “Dean’s list” on your transcript and Trophy would be made for students who have attained
at least a cumulative GPA of 3.9.
In addition, the outstanding graduate's Thesis or Research Project in a given year can be nominated and

SEMINAR AND CONFERENCE

Immunology Program arranges seminars given by invited speakers regularly throughout the academic

Arrangements are made for students to meet with guest speakers, and students are encouraged to
participate in the scientific discussions.

VACATIONS AND LEAVES

Graduate study is a full-time commitment on the part of students. During an academic year, students
may take a vacation during a term break if it is not conflict with the student’s coursework or research.
However, the leaves should apprise their major advisor of their intentions at least two weeks before
the planned absence.

If a student receives financial support for graduate study, payroll changes may be necessary.

Unscheduled absences or excessive vacation, holiday or leave time would be considered 'poor
performance' and issued to the Program committee. Immunology program reserves the right to terminate
the students' status if their qualifications are not satisfied.

Travelling to do research at university or institute outside Thailand is advisable to inform to the program.
The university or institute may ask for a letter or an evidence of students’ status from the Faculty of
Graduate Studies. Please contact the program for more information.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Mahidol University has collaborated with many international funding agencies, including Ford
Foundation, JICA, SEAMEO and WHO etc. Furthermore, the Faculty of Graduate Studies also annually
provides partial support for outstanding students. Application is allowed after enrollment as students at

In addition to funding provided by the University, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital offers a number of
Siriraj Graduate Scholarships for both Thai and international (Non-Thai) students. For presentation in
aboard, the Faculty also provides an additional funding supporting their travelling for students who are
carrying out research in the Program and involved in an existing research project. More information

INTERRUPTIONS OF STUDY

According to the Mahidol University’s regulation of Request to temporary suspension of studies,

− Students can request to temporarily suspend studies per the following conditions: student has studied
and completed at least 1 semester and must have maintained a GPA of not less than 2.00. Students
must submit the AS-3-09 form requesting a temporary suspension of studies/retire from the status
of student, accompanied with the justification for student’s request and necessary document (if any)
to the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies via approval of the Program director at least two
weeks prior to the registration period.

− Once students have received approval from the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies to
temporarily suspend studies, students must register by specifying “Voluntarily Suspend” and pay the
maintaining student status fee 4,000 baht and the education services fee.

− Students that receive a notification of approval to temporarily suspend studies must receive
Permission from the Program director and the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies to re-enroll
at least one week before the registration period.

The Program director can be authorised to approve the temporary suspension of studies if there is a good
reason. Students must provide evidence to support their request. A temporary suspension of studies is
applicable where a student is unable to work on his or her studies for a significant period of time. Some
circumstances can include medical and health problems (Medical certificates will be required), personal
and family problems.

Any one period of authorised temporary suspension of studies will be allowed authorised by the Program
at a maximum period for 2 consecutive semesters. In some circumstance, one more semester may be
requested. The temporary suspension of studies is not applied retrospectively.

Students in receipt of a scholarship should note that a temporary suspension of studies may have
implications in relation to receipt of funding.

EXTENSIONS OF STUDY

When students spend a maximum years of studying in the program, students need to fill the AS – 3 – 15
Extension request form and attach a report to explain the reasons for making this request. The chair of
the Thesis Advisory Committee and the Program director must sign off this form before submission to
the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Mahidol University for consideration.

ACCOMMODATION

Upon acceptance, staff within our Immunology Program Office and the present students in the Program
will be able to advise new students of their nearest accommodation. Information about finding a place
to live is also provided to students on the orientation day.

Health insurance is mandatory for all students. The cost is already included in the tuition fee. Students
can choose to be insured for a private hospital. Furthermore, students can use service at Dental and
Health Affair Units, provided by Mahidol University, at their study campus. For more detail, please refer

There are sports facilities provided in the faculty area. To use of these facilities, recent medical
certificate is required.

Siriraj Fitness Center is a service center that is located on the 11th Floor of the Siriraj Gymnesium
Building. The center offers a student membership or pay as you go entry to non-members. Advising with
facilities and exercise classes are provided by the professional fitness trainer’s team at the center.
Furthermore, indoor badminton and basketball courts are also provided in the same building on the 12th
and 13th floor.

In addition to the health insurance plan, students in our program can access Student Health Care Facility
of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital which is located in the OPD Building, 3rd Floor (Room no. 343),
Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital. Students can walk-in by showing Siriraj Student ID Card and Passport
(For Foreigner) every time to visit the OPD from 8.00 – 16.00 on weekdays. Emergency and Trauma Care
for student is also available 24 hours a day. Student Health Care Facility, Tel. (+66)02-419-7389.

For mental health, students can contact directly to Miss Wachiraya Lerdkrai, the therapist at
Postgraduate Education Division (Mental Health/Psychologist) call 02-419-6405 or 091-592-2892.
Moreover, on Wednesday, students can see a doctor by walk-in to the Mental Clinic at 7th Floor OPD
building (Tel. 02-419-7373).

LIBRARY

There are 16 Faculty libraries provided by Mahidol University under Mahidol University Library and
Information Center (MULIC) and located at Bangkok Noi, Phayathai and Salaya campuses. The library
catalog can be retrieved through the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) via MULIC's web page at its
URL of http://www.li.mahidol.ac.th. Central Library is located at the Salaya Campus.

Students of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital can access books in the Siriraj Medical Library (SiML),
which opens every day between 08.30 - 20.00, through the student ID card (activate at the library). SiML
offers Library Information Services which have a digital library system (e-journal and e-text book) to use
searching via intranet, internet and Virtual Private Network (VPN). Other services, for example, copy,
print and scan, searching ISBN, audio visual services, student study area, and meeting rooms also are
offered. Librarian counsels the new students to use the various facilities available. More information
