National Day Parade
West Spring commemorated
our National Day with a
Uniformed Groups parade.
Students were able to
witness the parade similar
to the country’s National

marching contingents put on
a spectacular display after
weeks of gruelling training.

Cyberwellness Week
Cyberwellness Week at West Spring saw our
Cyberwellness Ambassadors helping to prepare
our students to be future-ready and responsible
digital learners. Messages about protecting their
personal data online, being discerning about the
material they read online and being kind on and
offline were spread through our school Instagram.
The ambassadors also set up an exhibition booth
to spread their messages.
Education and Career Guidance - Polytechnic Visits

Secondary 1 Camp
The Secondary One camp was organised not just to
allow students to create stronger bonds with their
classmates outside of the classroom, but also to equip
them with skills to learn to be more independent
and resilient. Students participated in various
activities that develop their leadership skills as well
as communication skills like negotiation and how to
contribute as a team.
Secondary 1 Orientation
Throughout the two days
of games and activities,
the Secondary One
students bonded through
meaningful interactions
and got to know their new
classmates. It was a great
way to learn about West
Spring and also useful
skills that can help in their
transition to secondary
school.

2018 saw the inception of a new

between the Chinese Dance and
the Malay Dance. This is an exciting
time for the pioneering students as
they pick up new dance techniques
and learn to appreciate different
dance genres.
This year, under the student
leadership of the vice president
Tok Hwee Min, some of the
students have been visiting the
elderly patients at the St Luke's
hospital with the NIE Serving

The Modern Dance team also
has the privilege of performing
an interactive dance item at the

Cadets learn Triangle Of Life skills, which include basic
firefighting, first aid and CPR+AED. These are core skills
in NCDCC, which enable cadets to help themselves and
others in times of need. Equipping cadets with these
skills will help to form their identity as NCDCC cadets, a
community responder at heart.
Cadets will be trained in soft skills such as leadership,
communication (including methods of instruction),
relationship management and social awareness to get
them ready for their leadership phase. They will also
further hone their civil defence skills by going through
one of the three cadet specialist tracks and be given
leadership opportunities to lead their peers.
Cadets will make choices to serve their school and the
wider community through public education platforms
such as the NCDCC Service Month and Emergency
Preparedness Day as advocates of Emergency
Preparedness. With the civil defence knowledge and
skills imparted to them, they will also be able to lend

Mental Training Skills for Shooters Lim Shu En (Sec 2F)
This programme is specially designed • Air Pistol Women, Team
to train the mental strength and 3rd Runners-Up
resilience of students. These
techniques are largely applied before
they go for competitions. While
training for strength and accuracy
continues, this programme builds
on strengthening the mind and
preparing for competition mode.
Physical Training Activity
Physical Training (PT) is very essential
for shooters as they progress towards
being sportsmen and sportswomen.
For shooting, the students’ greater
focus would be their breathing
techniques, arms and legs muscles
and core muscles training. Through
PT, shooters are able to bond
together as a team as well.
Spring Cleaning Activity
For shooting, spring cleaning allows
students to take ownership of the
range and the areas which they train
in conscientiously. It is important for
them to keep these areas clean to
create a sense of belonging. It is also
a team bonding activity which brings
together shooters of different levels.
