The important thing about ice is that it
is cold.
It is clear.
You can crunch it,
And it melts in your mouth,
And it chills any drink,
And you can add syrup to make a snow
cone.
But the important thing about ice is
that it is cold.

The important thing about me is that I
am blonde.
I am sweet.
I love to laugh,
And I am competitive,
And very determined,
And my favorite thing to do is fish.
But the important thing about me is
that I am blonde.

The moment when my sister tried to
give me mouth to mouth brought my

breath back.

That moment when time seemed to slow
to a screeching halt; I struggled to
breathe as my sister was lunging

through the water to save me. Suddenly
I felt her cold, wet, puckered lips on

mine. They were planted smack dead in
the middle of my mouth. My eyes grew
wider and wider each second. When I

realized what was happening I was
stunned. The shock of my sister’s
actions brought my breath back

immediately. Time raced forward to the
present as I swallowed a mouthful of
air. She actually saved me through
pure shock instead of mouth to mouth.

The Tubing Event of Spring Break 2016

The time had finally come. I had been counting down the
days until spring break. My friends and I planned on taking a
trip to The Frio River and attend the Rio Frio Fest. I checked
my weather app daily in hopes that the weather forecast
would show hot weather. Unfortunately, the forecast did not
change and it was not expected to get all that warm. I had
waited for a long time to tube, and I honestly did not care
what the weather was I would be tubing the river. Thursday
came and I was ready to tube. It felt pretty decent outside and
of course it was very humid. We loaded up our tubes and
headed to the river crossing. I could already feel the ice-cold
water that awaited me. As I approached the water I told
myself to just make it quick. I always say the quicker the
better, so I ran into the water and plopped right on my tube. I
was surprised that the water was not half bad feeling. We were
off to a great start. Our group was having a grand time on the
water. I have floated the river since I was a baby, so I tried to
warn the others when a rock was approaching or the water got
really shallow. We were about to come up on the first
waterfall. I told Cole and Josh that they should probably walk
around since they had the cooler, but my words seemed to go
in one ear and out the other. I turned my head just in time to
see Josh barreling head first over the fall as Cole followed
closely behind. We all died laughing because he fell out of his
tube, lost the cooler, and tin cans went everywhere.
Apparently he did not learn from his first incident and
proceeded to do the exact same thing at the next fall. Josh and
Cole made the trip and I had the best floating trip. I cannot
wait for Spring Break 2017.
