4 Portal - Concept Philosophical / Theological Considerations and Guidelines for Production “Portal” is to be a virtual and spiritual bridge from Heaven to earth and earth to Heaven. A channel from the heart of God to His child and back. The virtual pylons to support this bridge need to be well thought out and secure. The listener, through singing along, pondering lyrics, expressing gratitude, praise, awe and love for God, etc., needs to be easily drawn up into God’s heart as revelation, healing, correction, prophetic words and Angelic visitations are dispatched down to earth as Holy Spirit directs. “Portal” is a conduit. What passes through it is the issue and most important. With that in mind, here are some “pylons” to consider: 1. Song production needs to evoke and inspire singing along and “entering in” to create a personal EXPERIENCE which would normally be found in a corporate worship setting. 2. Portal needs to feature Father, Son and Holy Spirit, not the dynamic talent of the players and vocalists. We need to avoid moments where the listener is “impressed” with technical skills and find themselves in awe of what they are hearing. This will cause them to “listen” and sometimes idolize talent instead of entering into God’s heart. The goal is to usher them through the “Gates”, “Courts” and “Veil” and into the Holy of Holies. 3. Portal should not be overly produced or mastered “HOT” which would further inspire listening over participation. We need to leave some dirt and blood on the tracks. No “walls of sound” with massive crescendos. 4. Multiple genres, cadences, textures and instrumentation to welcome anyone/everyone to participate. Think of the faces at “The Marriage Supper of the Lamb.” These faces represent our target audience. 5. Arrangements with spacious holes and lots of headroom to again allow listeners to burrow into the songs. The listener’s personal meditation and/ or sing-a-long experience should be considered an important factor that completes the production. 6. Scripture verses and Biblical foundational concepts should undergird the content of the lyrics throughout. 7. A wide swathe of arrangement and instrumentation ideas keeping the project “a feast of creativity”. A therapeutic journey taken like medicine. 8. Excellence prioritized over perfection. 9. Songs should feel “live” but have sonic integrity to meet demands for all broadcast applications. 10. It is obviously vital that all participants on this project have a loving relationship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and are comfortable with prayer, worship and the taking of “Communion” before sessions, as lead.

48 Who Shall Ascend? music & lyrics by Kenneth-Michael Veltz Who shall ascend to the hill of God? And who shall stand in the Holy Place?      He who has clean hands and a pure heart A humble soul who speaks truth and grace God will grant to him the gift of righteousness And salvation through His Son He shall be among those who are called and blessed To seek the face of the Holy One Lift your heads, O gates The Lion roars Receive your glorious King Lift up the doors Who is this glorious King? He is the Lord and living God Almighty He is the Lord leading all of Heaven’s armies He is the Lord, our glorious King

49 Who Shall Ascend? - Key: D - Up 7 - G Pos SCRIPTURES: Psalm 24 MESSAGE: We desire fellowship with God but light cannot and will not fellowship with darkness. We can thank Him for what He has done for us. We can praise Him for His magnificent works. But seeking God’s face and coming before Him in the Holy Place requires humility, clean hands and a pure heart that none can attain without Jesus. Jesus paid the penalty for our sin.
