A Better Solution for Single-Serve Our mesh filter pods mean consumers
can smell the coffee, not the plastic!
Pods
93% of consumers preferred coffee brewed in
100% Certified Compostable Single-Serve Coffee Pods the mesh filter pod format over the K-Cup
That’s better than “Recyclable” format*
▪ Plastic cups are made of different, mostly non-recyclable substances
▪ Few consumers will separate the hot coffee grounds, filters, lid and

plastics from their cups.
Nor should they have to.
That’s better than “Biodegradable”
▪ “Biodegradable” does not mean it will break down quickly in
landfills or composting; leaving trash-like debris around for years.
▪ Boyd’s pods are certified to break down in commercial composting
▪ No need to take apart you pod before you put it a green bin- each
piece is designed to break down together.

The Coffee Pod Dilemma

• In both the United States and Canada, more than 41% of coffee
drinking households own a single serve brewer* . An estimated
20 billion single serve pods will be used in North America this year
alone.

• Consumers love convenience, but are concerned about waste.
Amidst growing concerns over the impact of single use plastics on
the environment and human health, they are searching for quality
products they can feel good about.

• Recyclable in real life? Recycling requires consumers to
disassemble the K-Cup®. Even if consumers do take apart the small
plastic cups properly, many recyclers use systems that
automatically reject small items like these as not worth the effort
or cost to recycle
