New Location in Santee

Opening in 2021, the new medical office is located inside Lantern Crest, a privately owned
premier senior living community in East County. Lantern Crest is situated on 34 acres and
intersects with four major freeways — 67, 125, 8 and 52 — making the community easily
accessible from anywhere in San Diego. Lantern Crest offers retirement, independent living,
assisted living and memory care to seniors. SharpCare Lantern Crest will offer on-site primary
care to Lantern Crest residents and the surrounding community.

Osteoporosis is preventable, treatable and reversible. Diagnosis and management is a life saving
service available to both men and women. Your customized appointment evaluation of your bone
health performed by a certified clinician should include:

• History & physical specific to you and your family’s bone health
• Review of your bone density test
• Review of specific lab tests evaluating bone strength and function

With this information, a personalized treatment plan is designed with your input to reduce your
fracture risk in effort to prevent broken bones that can negatively impact your active lifestyle.

Who should get a Bone Mineral Density (BMD) test?

• Women aged 65 and older
• Menopausal/post menopausal women under 65 can be tested especially with fracture history, thyroid

disease, disease affecting GI absorption including gastric bypass, low bodyweight, certain medication
use
• Women discontinuing estrogen should be considered for bone density testing according to the
indications listed above
• For men < 70 years of age, a bone density test is indicated if they have a risk factor for low bone mass
such as low body weight, prior fracture, high risk medication use, disease or condition associated with
bone loss
• Adults with a fragility fracture
• Adults over 50 with fracture history, bone diseases. taking medication for bone diseases including
osteoporosis
