This week our Year 6 children took part in a
Speedwatch exercise in conjunction with Essex
Road Safety and Police Officers. They stood outside
the school and monitored the number and type of
vehicles going past and the Police Officer checked
the speed of vehicles with a portable radar gun.
During the the course of the morning two drivers
were found to be exceeding the speed limit and
were pulled over by the Police Officer. They were
given the opportunity to talk to the children who
asked them why they had been driving too fast and
whether they realised the impact of exceeding the
speed limit especially outside
their school. The children had also prepared posters
about the dangers of speeding, which they handed to
the drivers. This was a valuable exercise and the
Police Officer complimented the children on their
sensitive handling of the questions.

Dear Bruno

May I respectfully ask the local council to look at

proposal development for listed properties, more

carefully in future.

2 Rosemary Cottages become vacant about two years

ago now (due to bereavement ) property developers

promptly took over and for the past year this once

pretty 400 year old cottage has sustained being ripped

apart. The disruption to our lives has really been too

much to bear, constant banging all day, dirt and dust

covering the cottage, nails left around on the pavement,

a pneumatic jack hammer was brought in to break up

the kitchen floor, huge lorries parked on the pavement

blocking the view from our front window, also making

it impossible for mums with their prams to pass.

Now the extension in the back garden is being built and

from 8 till 4 a heavy duty nail gun is being used 5 days

a week. (something akin to a shotgun going off)

because the walls are so thin everyday I have to remove

pictures and plates off the walls or they will fall off.

Dampness has come in our front wall and bathroom and

turned to mould, all that and noisy radio playing all

day. I ask them to turn it down and it’s back on loud the

next day!

It appears that all this will go on till at least Easter if

not longer.

Yours sincerely

Steve Amey

the Hundred Parishes then it may indirectly bring extra 01279 873 492

leaflets. A professional service at a competitive rate

When distributing leaflets we were pleasantly surprised to 14111 Jan 2015
find that the number of tea rooms has been increasing,
with over 20 around the area. On our website, within the HIRE UR CHURCH HALL FOR
introductions to individual parishes, we try to keep the list BIRTHDAY PARTIES
of pubs, tea rooms, etc updated so that visitors know what
to expect, whether they are exploring by car, bike, horse You can hire the hall for children's parties
or on foot. By visitors, we don’t just mean people from £10.50 / hour Tel :01279 730 581

area better. With pubs regularly closing and re-opening, if
you know of a recent change of circumstances, or spot
that any of our information needs updating, please let us
know by using the website’s Feedback form.

We also ask for your help to keep our What’s On page up
to date. We hope that event organisers will benefit from
the extra publicity we can give for an event that
encourages appreciation of the area – perhaps a history
society talk, a cultural event, a walk or a conservation
exercise.

Of course, keeping What’s On, etc updated is a waste of
time if nobody looks at it, so please check out our website

Meeting held on 13th November with Police, MP, Lord of
the Manor, UDC and Parish Council.
It was agreed that preventative measures need to be put
in place to prevent illegal camping by travellers, and if
they are breached it would amount to criminal damage.
The Police confirmed that if criminal damage was present
then they would invoke S61 of the Criminal Justice Act to
remove them.
Trustees of the Lord of the Manor have confirmed their
intention to provide ditching and posts to the Village
Green and will prepare a scheme and cost plan which will
be forwarded to the Parish Council for their comments.
The trustees would look to the Parish Council for a
contribution towards the cost of implementation.

The above is the rubbish and toilet arrangements made by the Travellers/Gypsies.
The council cleared up the visual rubbish just after they had left. The above was cleared by the Cricket Club
