With the coming of colder weather life becomes
increasingly difficult for folk who are living rough.
Thoughts of Christmas and all the preparations, already
evident in the shops, remind our street dwellers that they
do not have caring families with whom to share the
festive season. We at Whitechapel are the only family
most of them have and in your name we seek to make
Christmas a special time for them.

HEIGHT/NOISE OF AIRCRAFT
Home Visiting Practice From: Robert Jones
To: Stop Stansted Expansion
Mrs. Julie Golden S.R.Ch. Subject: aircraft height/noise
Est. 1994 I am a member. Following a recent complaint re noise
and height of aircraft over Hatfield Heath , I received a
01279 817 810 response from the airport that although one plane was
under 3000 feet it still met regulations. I thought that
A professional service at a competitive rate planes were supposed to aim to be 4000 over our village
. Could you point me towards the right documents to
read to clarify this. Yours Robert Jones

BELOW IS THE IMPORTANT BIT OF THE JO PORTER
ANSWER FROM SSE
HAIR
“While height has less effect on noise disturbance AT YOUR HOME
than flight track in Hatfield Heath, nonetheless
aircraft on departure have to remain within the LADIES MEN CHILDREN
prescribed Noise Preferential Route corridor (or
swathe) until they reach a certain height which for SPECIALIST SERVICES
the Clacton and Dover routes that go past Hatfield Special occasion / hair-up
Heath is 4,000ft after which they may leave this
corridor and fly towards the next navigational point COLOUR SERVICES
on their route. So in practice as long as aircraft stay
in the swathe until 4,000ft they are meeting the call: 07879 962274
regulations. The larger aircraft (e.g. cargo) will
climb more slowly than the short haul aircraft (e.g. Refrigeration & Cooling Services
easyJet 319). So most aircraft will not have reached
4,000ft over you.” Complete Air Conditioning &

The Map above of the existing swathe was sent to us when
Hatfield Broad Oak Complained about five years ago. They
complained that the Aircraft were drifting over and flying
directly over them . BAA apologised to Broad Oak and sent
aircraft back to their correct route which is over Hatfield
Heath so no apology needed to us ! To rub salt into the
wound they sent a copy of the letter of apology meant for
Broad Oak, to us as well. It was probably to show us that
planes flying directly over us was officially the correct
path they should take.
I have asked in past if it is not possible to move the swathe
further south away from our village not just for noise but
for safety as well
With GPS so accurate it can tell within feet where you
are I assume it must be possible to move the swathe further
over so that it is not directly over Hatfield Heath. I have
been saying this for the last 7 years and was told at meetings
to wait until NATS reviews the flight paths when the
General public will be asked for their views.
This came and went it seems and I don't remember being
asked for our opinion. I don’t doubt that the reason is that
we haven’t complained enough. Hatfield Broad Oak is on
the the edge of the swathe so it was easy to solve their
problem but as we are almost dead centre on the swathe
It would take a bit more work!

610. NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN
Further to Planning Road show this morning attended by
Clerk, MS and GW, it appears that a Neighbourhood
Plan is not required for Hatfield Heath as it is pro
development and Hatfield Heath is not regarded by UDC
as a potential site for large scale development. A more
appropriate path would be a design statement to protect
the village on isolated planning schemes. Further
consideration to be given following EALC training

GW reported on behalf of the Affordable
Housing Working Party on the meeting held earlier with
Ulrike Maccariello of Hastoe HA, Hastoe's architect
Chris Parsons and Moira Groborz, RCCE's Rural
Housing Enabler. The short list has now been reduced
to just 2 potential sites, and there was considerable
discussion about the issues, which are quite evenly
balanced. As part of the consultation process, it was
agreed to proceed with a public meeting in the United
Reformed Church Hall on 9th February and subsequently
to hold a special meeting of the PC on 8th March to
finalise the Council's position.
Clerk to check hall availability for Thursday 8th March

2011 FUNDRAISING UPDATE
Greetings once again and Happy New Year to you all!
Here I am with another update on my fund raising
progress towards Costa Rica 2012. If you recall, I need
to raise £3000 to fund my expedition and I am eager to
share my 2011 progress with you all.
I managed to arrange and host a total 7 fundraising
events from June-November last year. Starting with a
wet camping day in June and culminating with a very
well attended Quiz Night in November. In between I
hosted a “cream tea and beetle drive” for 40 people and a
scary Halloween Party for 53 local children as well as a
Zumba evening, Coffee morning and book sales.
I have so many people to thank for their support this year
that it is impossible to list them all. However I would
like to pay special thanks to the following local
businesses who supported my quiz night with raffle
donations:
· The Hunters Meet · Down Hall
· Access to Beauty · The Coop
· Zafrani · Mr Simms “Wendycot”,Chelmsford Road,
Hatfield Heath,
· Clement Joscelyn
Bishop’S Stortford, Herts
And of course to the 109 people who attended on the

So I start 2012 with some fantastic fundraising
experience under my belt and just £650 to go!!
As ever, thanks for your support. I look forward to
updating you soon. Don’t forget to book me if you need
a babysitter !
Best wishes
