come along and join us !!! monthly rainfall totals, ranging
from 0.16 inches in June to 6.32
inches in October, when the
country experienced some of the
worst floods for centuries”
You will see from the yearly
comparisons, Hatfield Heath then
had 40% more rain than average.
The year 2007 experienced some
of the worst regional flooding, largely in the West
Country, but it was not overall. In fact Hatfield Heath’s
rainfall was only 2% above our seventeen year average.
Significant snowfall was recorded on only two days - the
7th and 8th of February.
We certainly are getting “winter warmer” but not
necessarily wetter.
Brian Bland
Brian said he would give us a monthly check on the
rain. Looking at the report above it may be
interesting to know the temperature
changes/comparisons as well.

Subject: FW: 30mph Road Signs in Hatfield Heath
Our Ref: RJ/KMF/PT24(D1) / 115889
Dear Mr Jenkins,
Thank you for your e-mail dated 10 December 2007.
I have been in contact with our contractor for the removal
of the existing 40mph carriageway roundel that needs to
be removed along the A1060 and will look to chase this
up till it is done.
With regard to the speed limit; the extent of the new
30mph speed limit has been agreed with the Traffic
Police and the considerations required in line with Essex
County Council’s Speed Management Strategy. This
requires new limits to appear appropriate to the driver.
This is for good reason; inappropriate limits are widely
abused, which can leave drivers with a false sense of
security and can have a knock-on effect on driver’s
attitudes to other speed limits.
We will however be monitoring vehicle speeds following
the installation of the new 30mph speed limit that was
put in place.
Regards,
Roland Jordaan
