photo goes here photo goes here 06 While designing the yearbook was a tough task, I really hope this yearbook did even a small job of expressing the achievements and feats committed by our school and its students this year and furthermore, it serves as a small trinket of memories that students can take with themselves and cherish for years to come Being assigned with such a daunting task, I was worried that we wouldn't be able to make it but through perseverance, shifting through the layouts back and forth and switching the color palettes we finally decided on one and made it work. This wouldn't have been possible without the help of all the team members. This task was indeed a challenge but we pushed through and made it work. We Yearbook Team hope the yearbook meets the expectations of the viewers.
photo goes here photo goes here As the yearbook's editor this year, I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Innumerable hours have been invested by our team to produce a stunning and thorough reflection of our academic year at every level. This yearbook is truly a labor of love, from the beautiful cover design to the thoughtful messages from our staff , students and the council . 07 When i was asked to help with this massive task i was hesitant but i looked at my now team members and knew we could do it, we could take it on.With racking my brain on the writeups to running behind every staff to get a picture i knew all this hard work would lead to a favorable outcome.
photo goes here Having the opportunity to capture events through the lens of the camera has been a journey. Photographing and editing for the first newsletter of the campus has been joy. Who reads these anyways…? Enjoy the photos. Sincerely, Mahnoor Syed 08 This experience has been amazing, it was an honor to be able to work with you all And taking memorable pictures of your smiling faces, thank you for the great opportunity I really appreciated it and I hope you like the year book as our team worked very hard on it. BATCH OF 2022-23
The past is my foundation, the bedrock on which I built my present, and the base that I envision my future from. I stand here today because of the years of knowledge and hard work behind me and, the future I see is what I will build from this moment. Many people believe that our past serves no purpose, our present is nothing but a passage of time and our future is an inevitable reality. But isn’t it today that will turn into tomorrow? Isn’t it our past efforts that make our present? Isn’t it our current efforts that will make our future? And isn’t it the present that gives meaning to the past and a bridge to the future? Which brings me to one of the most important questions, are we moving towards an inevitable reality, or are we working towards a future? Have we ever stopped and thought about ourselves? And have we ever used our present to build our future? While the past doesn’t define the future, it does define the present and the present will dictate your future. So why is the past important? The past is the map to the present, and the present is the guide to the future. The past highlights your and others faults. It ensures that you don’t repeat the mistakes; it ensures that you don’t have to learn by suffering, it protects you and gives you courage and pushes you towards a better future. Now, let’s not forget the role of the present, for there is no past without the present. The present is here and now, it will someday be our past, and the present will decide how the future will turn out. This is the time we live in, it’s the time we can make an effort in, and it’s the only time that will change our future. The future is where we all hope to end up, it’s where our dreams come true and our efforts bear fruit, even if by then it is the present, and we have to think of the future…again. Benjamin Franklin discovered electricity, which lead to the development of electricity, which lead to the invention of bulbs by Thomas Edison, which later on lead to the invention of a Television, leading to internet, computers and what not. Declamation By Eeman Tasneem Syed 11C - Green
Everyone involved in these inventions have a similarity, they all worked hard in their past and emerged to a better present, creating a better future. So we must not be left behind. So we must not despair. We too, are standing in a present full of potential, and we must work to realize our future. This brings me to the point that, whenever we see someone successful at the top, we turn a blind eye to the flight of stairs they had to take, the hard work they had to put in and the future they had to create. We must never think that things happen out of the blue. Rome was not built in one day, neither are countries, nor are our lives. Everything takes effort. We cannot be envious of successful people and overlook the stairs of hard work and dedication that they have climbed to get to the top. We must build our own stairs And lastly, They say that the past is the mother of the present and the grandmother of the future. The present is child of the past and the father of the future. The future is the child of the present and the grandson of the past. There will be no future to envision if we don’t do something today.
The first day of school is perhaps the most atrocious day of one’s life. Going through the same agony, every year can be quite hectic and brutal if you ask me, especially if you are starting 9th grade in a completely new school. I started 9 th grade on 15 th August’ 2022. A glorious year, I tell you. Full of learning, fun and excitement! Nonetheless, the first day was nothing short of a nightmare. I jolted up in my bed as the alarm beeped its head off. Why is it that every time you plan to wake up at the crack of dawn, you tend to oversleep? The shrilling voice of the alarm rang in my ears, as I got ready. I looked into the mirror and exclaimed, “Everything will be perfectly alright. This will be a piece of cake!” I raced down, tripping over books, toys, and everything else. I entered the kitchen, in a flurry, gulped down my milk, and left the room while munching on my toast. The soft butter melted into my mouth, calming me down. The next moment I knew, my car was speeding down the road, towards my school - Beaconhouse Karakoram Campus. Nevertheless, my bad luck jinx activated and we were stuck in the worst kind of traffic jam: a herd peacefully crossing the road. My father had hit the nail on the head when he warned, “I’d be careful if I were you, kiddo! The area is inhabited by livestock.” Remind me to punch myself; why on Earth did I not listen to him. Anyway, despite the delay, I still made it on time. The school building towered over me. Moreover, it was buzzing with life. I took a deep breath and strode into the school, feeling confident. Paintings adorned the high ceiling walls and, the soft smell of daisies was spread all around. However, it is as if I spoke too soon because nothing could have prepared me for what came next, Did I mention that the girls’ section was on the fourth floor! First Day of School By Umamah Eshal 9C - Green
Well, I guess they took the name ‘Karakoram’ seriously. I climbed the stairs and, by the time I reached the fourth floor, I was breathless. I rushed to my classroom and took a seat. The rest of the day went by smoothly. Mainly, class introductions were held, with brief orientations of each subject also being held. At the end of the day, everything did go by smoothly, somehow. Always remember that despite the difficult first day, there is a promising year ahead of you. It will be full of challenges, victories, and even failures. The important thing is, you learn, grow and live life to the fullest!
Hush! I pressed my ears against the barrier separating the truth and my delusions. beyond the door, people in amounts I couldn't begin to imagine, whispering and hushing to themselves, the subject is none other but I. Peeping through the door hole, faceless gray beings with hands stained with blood. Beings that shared the likeness of humans but were drained of individuality they lost their humanity. Opening the door handle, I entered the room of my brain, calm, full, and anxious. an outsider to my mind. I never felt like I was in my own body, but rather governed by imposters who controlled my every move with their venomous words. Words my friends whispered to each other about me, the actions my parents showed from disappointment, all these actions manifesting themselves into these beings that lived in my head, driving me insane. an outsider to my mind and my body, a mere bystander, a third party who could only view and never intervene, that's who I had become. All I could do was eavesdrop, and hear their toxic words, unable to shut my ears for all of eternity, forced to listen to toxins for the rest of my life like a broken tape that knows nothing but to rewind. Eavesdrop By Maheen Khurram 9C Red
“Remember, life is a race. If you don’t run fast enough somebody else will trample you over and get ahead.” -Virus, 3 idiots (2009) Such are the words I believe are embedded into the minds of students by society from the very inception of their existence. Although far from the truth, our generation decides to oppose it entirely. Portraying ourselves victims to societal tyranny, we stop in our pursuit of excellence. Playing the victim corrupts our minds to the point where we don’t want to proceed with our goals. We deem it better to dream about it rather than work towards it. The reason being that we’ve already given up and accepted that failure is inevitable, blaming it upon our lack of skill, talent, motivation, and the list goes on. Ammi jaan kehti theen, “The ones who win are the ones who think they can. The ones who think they’re going to lose, have already lost.” At this point in our lives, the world may seem overwhelming as we are simultaneously tasked with excelling academically, maintaining a social life and plan for the future as well. It seems challenging to find a path of balance and control amongst life’s chaos. This scenario applies even for most of the people we see living seemingly perfect lives. Imperfection will always be present. Understand that imperfection leads the way for human growth. However, settling for imperfection is when we start becoming victims to our limitations. The only limitations plaguing us are the ones we set upon ourselves. As the great Master Shifu puts it, “If you only do what you can do, you will never be more than who you are right now.” Mind over matter By Muhemmed Shaban 10C - Yellow
A gaming term we tend to follow is “can’t end on a loss.” In order to not feel the weight of our failures, we ensure that we gain one final victory even at the cost of more defeats. While the statement is said in a delusional grasp for peace of mind, it is an example of the indomitable human spirit. That despite the failures of the day, we simply refuse to quit without a win. Imagine if we all applied this mindset to more than just a game. Imagine that when faced with life’s greatest hardships, we refuse to end on a loss. The time comes when you are handed a choice. You either pick between the pain of discipline or either the pain of regret. Pain is inevitable, but suffering, mere optional. Discipline not enforced by the surroundings or circumstances, but rather discipline of self, tazkiya-e-nafs. It is in this choice that you create or break your mindset. This mindset does not encourage working to burnout, but rather achieving the greatest version of yourself by maintaining a balance. Taking life’s challenges one step at a time, but understanding that without struggle there is no progress. Alas, the tree that grows to heaven must send its roots to hell. This mindset is your biggest asset. Life comes with its highs and lows, but it is your mindset that projects your perception of these circumstances. Realize that there is a circle of control revolving your life, and life will not play to your rules. Bad things happen, that’s life. Itiz wut itiz. What you can control is how you react to it. It’s only as bad as you let it be. It’s ok to go through something bad. It’s ok to feel like you’re stuck in a loop. A bad week doesn’t last. A bad month doesn’t last. Even a bad year doesn’t last. To quote Steve Harvey, “If you’re going through hell, keep going. Why would you stop in hell?”
As long as you make it out and work on yourself in the process, you’ll come out of the dark tunnel better than you went in. It’s always easy to believe in yourself when things are going well. Yet it is more important when things have gone sideways. When you’ve hit rock bottom and are feeling your absolute worst. When fear and doubt creep in. When you feel stressed and anxious. It is in these moments that you have to believe in yourselves the most. The good thing about hitting rock bottom is that there’s only one place left to go. Up.
: A way to hide, to hide your true feelings behind a mere smile. To pretend that you are fine, to show them no more than a piece of your reality To pretend that the words said not affect you that they didn't hurt, and just laugh it off. Do they think my feelings are invalid? That I don't matter? That I am not my person and just hidden behind a mask..switching between a mask for each other person to the point where one has lost my true self. Who even is me? A mask used by everyone to conceal everything you have felt and are feeling. But why does one have to hide their true self behind a mask? To show others who are going through the same thing that you are ok? To make them feel so alone to the point of self-isolation. A mask used to lie or conceal your reality? A thunderstorm, far out over the sea. It began silently like the beginning of a disaster. Nothing was visible except the ghoulish black clouds which had devoured the horizon. There was a whisper of thunder as I watched the rolling tides. The thunderheads hid the sun, darkening the sight - there was a moment of peace. As I looked up, the tremendous roar of the thunder split up my ear. the first thunderbolt struck. it flared against the sky and the vast sea; I could see its perfect shape flawless in colors. the thunder rumbled and stuttered like it was tired. there were openings in the clouds now as if the sky had torn apart and the rays of brilliant blue shone over the gloomy sea Every tide was answering the call of the bolts. The crest was getting rough, rising high and colliding so harshly that I could hear them. Suddenly, the rain dropped on m making the cold weather even chillier. It came all at once, soaking the dry sand filling the sea. it was quite opaque; I could see the lightning as the flashes of light. it came down so hard that the thunder itself was wet. it was a fantasy, the anger and the sadness of the clouds. A weak noise, all blended into a single experience. It stopped in the blink of an eye. the storm broke. the gray curtains came apart welcoming the warm rays of the sun. The rain still fell but in a peaceful manner. It all vanished as if there wasn't any storm at all but it left that beautiful arc, filled with bright colors. Thunderstorm By Hajra Hussain 9C - Red
The ocean waves around evening time are an enrapturing sight that never neglects to leave one in stunningness. As the obscurity wraps the world and the stars sparkle over, the ocean starts to mix. The waves wake up with a savage energy, rising and falling in a musical dance that appears to be practically extraordinary. The waves crashing onto the shore is stunning, a strong ensemble of thundering and crashing that reverberations across the vacant ocean side. The actual waves are a power of nature, every one apparently more monstrous than the last. They overshadow the shore, peaking and breaking with a stunning thunder that shakes the very earth. The seafoam moves and whirls in the dimness, enlightened by the delicate shine of the stars above. The pungent aroma of the ocean swirls around, blending with the cool wind that blows in from the water. Maybe the ocean has taken on an unmistakable overflow of energy, a wild and untamed power that can't be held back. As the waves crash onto the shore, they send tufts of water high out of sight, making a stunning showcase of light and sound. The ocean is by all accounts communicating in a language all its own, a message of force and grandness that can't be disregarded. Watching the ocean waves around evening time is an encounter that fills the spirit with amazement and wonder, an indication of the crude power and excellence of the regular world. Sometimes I ponder What is the essence of life? What is the real stage? What is the point of, Going to school every day? Then doing homework Seems like a cycle Isn’t it crucial for me? Yes, it is for sure Don’t the teachers know? That we have other homework To worry about? But let’s be honest, Isn’t it just for practice? No spare thoughts!
