Advance in Architecture
& Engineering

Advances in architecture and engineering
added their own ideas to classical building
styles. One of the most impressive
architectural feats of the renaissance was the
great cathedral.

Filippo Brunelleschi had studied ancient ruins
in rome, he had learned about the
mathematics involved in creating buildings.
During the renaissance, wealthy families built
private townhouses known as palazzo which
are also palaces.

Advances in engineering made new kinds of
architecture possible. They did not know how
to build a large enough dome that would not
collapse, but brunelleschi fixed that.

Brunelleschi invented machines called hoists
to raise building materials and food to workers
at the top of the dome as they were building it.
The dome was finally finished.

Why is art so popular in

the Renaissance Age?

Art was a well known topic during the Renaissance Age. Art
in the Renaissance Age was pretty simple, mainly about
painting and sculpting. There was a couple of well known
artist such as Michelangelo, Titian, Albrecht Durer. All of
these artist created spectacular sculptures, paintings, and
had some very amazing talents.

Michelangelo was birthed in a small village near
Florence. This was during the year of 1475. Michelangelo
did have a bad and ambitious temper during times. But he
did become an apprentice artist at the age of 13. Later on
he began to study under a sculptor at 15. But most
importantly he was gifted the talents of sculpture and
painting. Achieving his Pieta carving, David and Moans
sculpture, and Moses which can be found in the bible.

Jumping over to Titian, he was birthed in a village in
the Italian Alps. This was during the year of 1488. Titian was
a persuasive man, also being rich and generous at the time.
As Titian was a young man he worked with Giorgione ( a
master of Fresco painting ). Later on outgrowing the
influence of his teachers and created his own styles. But he
was actually known for his inspired use of color and for
loose, lively brushwork that made his pictures appear to be
alive. While he afterwards achieved painting portraits for the
rich and powerful.
