back up. And we continued to get back up this season.

We started the season a bit slow. Our fall sports teams did a great
job making it into post season play and those athletes missed early
season practices. But the team worked hard during the month of

i b k A a GREAT YEAR!November and put together our highest team opening score of any
season at 128.350 points on November 30th at Sisseton. We

continued working on difficulty and adding new skills while gaining the strength

and stamina to get through routines cleanly and by December 18th the team

scored a 133.300 at the Britton Hecla Invitational. This was the second highest

team score in school history.

Unfortunately the “ups” did not continue during and after the holidays. The

three holidays and winter moratorium within the winter season make consistent

practice difficult. To add to that, illness and injury made its way through the

team. We came back from Christmas break and had three gymnasts compete

at Sisseton on 1/8/22, not enough to field a full team. By Monday 1/10/22, we

had two participate at Hendricks. Bad weather and the inability to field a full

team prompted us to pull from the 1/15/22 Madison Invitational for a reset. We

had three weeks before Regions and four before state. It was still possible to

get back were we needed to be by the end of the season but it would be

difficult. At the Watertown Invite on 1/20/22 we were able to field a full team

and started our comeback with a solid 128.825. Additional illness and fatigue

slowed our forward momentum at the Deuel Invitational on 1/29/22 as we took

a few uncharacteristic falls but we started to see signs of the team that we

could still be as personal bests were scored by many gymnasts. We continued

our upward momentum and hit our first three events at the Region 1A/NEC Left to Right: Gemma Street, Macyn Dunihoo, Aubrey Fraasch, Madison Mathews,

were done. We faltered in the lime light. We still had a nice team score of Dani Yamaura, Hannah Brown, Rylie Overby

Individually the Milbank gymnasts have also performed at high levels. Every
gymnast has had multiple personal best scores this season. This is a huge Gemma Street, a 9th grader, saw her first season of varsity competition. She has worked hard and added
accomplishment as most of the team have been competing varsity for years a lot of new skills to her routines on bars, beam and floor, greatly increasing her routine start values.
