ASSIGNMENT SHEET

When the internet began in the 1990s it was a place you went to find information (do
research). Today it is a way to keep in touch with people from around the world by e-mail and
social networking sites.
Staying safe when online is something that we all need to know how to do and hopefully this
process will allow you to do that. It will also help you to inform others in your life on how they
can make sure they are safe. When you are careless when online you can not only invite
unwanted people into your life but can be the victim of identity theft as well as the victim of
other crimes. Learn how to protect yourself and those you care about.
Directions:
1. Research the following topics associated with internet safety:

2. Create a list of internet safety rules that you would have someone you care about follow. The
list should be original to you. It should also include how to protect yourself from a variety of
crimes including (but not limited to) the ones listed above.
3. Create an informational brochure in Microsoft Publisher explaining (not just list) the topics
listed above and the internet safety rules you have composed. Use landscape orientation and a
three-column format. (margins - .5” top, bottom, left, right) (3 column format and 1” spacing
between columns).
4. Include graphics to illustrate your brochure along with WordArt, ClipArt, text boxes, shapes,
border, color, etc.
5. Give a list of websites that can provide additional information.
6. Review the rubric below to ensure you are following all guidelines.
7. Save the brochure as: InternetSafety
