DTM KHURAM SALMAN

Angels Toastmasters Club – One of the only two female-only clubs in
the District has been an exemplary example of Servant Leadership.
Whenever we need something done, we know we can rely on Angels
to get it done. I’ve always found the Angels to be determined,
passionate, serving and spreading joy no matter what role they get
the chance to serve in – and that in itself is inspiring! I would take
this opportunity to acknowledge and thank the Angels for all their
years of service beyond the club.
The outgoing excom lead by TM Fareeda has done a wonderful job
on bringing the club to a higher level and setting the bar high. The
incoming excom has big shoes to fill in and continue the legacy but
I’m sure they’re upto the task. I look forward to the Angel’s journey
and wish them all the best.

DISTRICT 20 CLUB
GROWTH DIRECTOR

DTM Mohamed Saleem

If you want anything said, ask a man. If you want anything
done, ask a woman.” Margaret Thatcher

02/10/2005

A date to remember in the history of Toastmasters in the kingdom of
Bahrain. The first Ladies Only Club was chartered. The club was
chartered so it would cater the needs of homemakers and working
women who were looking for a platform to groom themselves into
better communicators and leaders, But the journey of this club wasn’t
easy, The challenges kept coming, with many members leaving the
island membership retention was a daunting task, But the Club always
kept the spirits, there was always had influx of new members which
kept the club alive all these years.
Over the years, the members have excelled all the fields under the
able leadership of DTM. Rosaline Roy Charlie. The club have
produced champions at Area, Division level in all the categories. The
art of managing an world class event was witnessed during the
“Confluence”. The entire event was meticulously planned and
executed; it did create a benchmark for future events.
Handling pressure managing credentials is huge challenge for any
leader, but this year the task was handled with ease by the team of
angels who didn’t budge for any pressure.
Though club has exceeded all the expectations, it has few more
milestones to reach, like more DTM’s, More District leaders. I am sure
they will achieve in coming years.
Congratulations to the club for reaching President’s Distinguished
Club status and let the legacy continue. Best wishes to the incoming
officers.

DISTRICT PUBLIC
RELATIONS MANAGER

TM NASEEMA KHAN

Angels was the first ladies club that I have ever attended in my 7
years of Toastmasters journey. I was indifferent to be a part of any
female clubs or for that matter any female associations’ perhaps the
misconception that I had “Ladies club” over- focuses on women
empowerment and aim to portrait women are superior to men, the
ideology that I don’t believe in. However being the District 20 PR
manager I was obliged to visit clubs that fall during my scheduled trip
and the way warmly I have been invited did tempt me. And here I was
attending Angels Toastmasters Club meeting let me tell you how
wrong I was in my thinking. The club is women club but full of energy,
warmth, strength building tactics and opportunities that they create
for themselves and others.

The President of the club TM Fareeda is one of the outright strongest
personalities I have seen around. The next is the PR TM Bijal a
perfect officer for a Public Relation role ever smiling and beaming. All
the members of Angels makes you feel you are the member of their
exhilarating family. Due to the club hospitality and convivial culture
whenever I visit Bahrain it has become a ritual now to pay a visit to
Angels. I wish in incoming years Angels only thrive, prosper and
reach to unprecedented height. Lots of love, light and success to all
the Angels of Angel Toastmasters club.

DIVISION B DIRECTOR

TM SHIVARAJ PIRAMUTHU

Pearl in the crown

2018-19 Toastmasters' year is quickly coming to an end. Your executive
committee was energetic and enthusiastic and they have all worked
meticulously to make every meeting creative, fun and a learning
experience for the members and guests. With the help of them and all
members, Angels has achieved the President’s Distinguished Club
status for 2018-19. Kudos to all involved.

The friendly members and the jovial, vibrant atmosphere is the unique
feature of your club. Your club is home to some great speakers and
leaders who I am sure will guide and mentor the new members. We all
have our own reasons and goals to join Toastmasters – for some it is to
become better communicators, for some to take up leadership roles, for
some to achieve awards and for others to network and make friends. The
bottom line is to remember to have fun because enjoying the
Toastmasters journey is more important than reaching that destination.
What I like the most in Angels Toastmasters is their presence in all
Toastmasters activities. Whether it is, area, division or district level you
take various leadership role and deliver the best performance. I would like
to see you all to hold higher positions in division and district level in the
future. I have the great privilege of serving you all as the Division B
director and am delighted to share that our Division has achieved
President Distinguished Division status. And I am proud to say that
Angel toastmasters is the pearl in that crown.

AREA 13 DIRECTOR

TM Dr. RAJENDRAN
AMBADATH

Friends, while the incumbent Excom is passing the baton to the new
Excom 2019-’20, I would like to express my admiration and
appreciation for the dedication, hard work and inspiration evinced by
the former and congratulate the latter in committing to uphold their
legacy !

Well, it just isn’t all about maintaining status-quo; it is effectively a
new beginning to march on. For, as American humourist, Will Rogers
remarked : “Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if
you just sit there”. So you are on a perpetual quest to better your
best.

It is that fresh feeling of newness that we experience in every venture
we undertake in life that imparts a sense of initiative, courage and
confidence to move ahead. From this perspective, it can be seen that
almost every significant breakthrough in any creative undertaking has
sparked off from a break with the tradition, the old ways of thinking
into a radically new angle of approach. Thus we all need a ‘Paradigm
Shift’, whether at individual or institutional level, to revive and
rejuvenate. So consider this an opportunity !

Also, let me conclude by sharing a valuable insight from John Quincy
Adams : “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do
more and become more, you are a true Leader”. Best wishes to the
new team in attaining these ends !

The club with confidence
Challenges always makes us build our confidence
‘Confluence 2017’ a convergence of world class speakers, was the
challenging event organised by Angels Toastmasters Club in December
2017. The success of the event was the sheer determination of ladies of
Angels toastmasters who believed that we can do the event. Chairing the
event made me along with my members build our confidence through our
team spirit.
This determination and team spirit made us embrace the term 2018-19 with
more confidence. We started with ‘The Youth Leadership Program’ where
in we had 25 participants trained as budding leaders and some of them
successfully continued by joining Rising Stars Gavel Club. The program was
led by President TM Fareeda Bai Thanzeer, Vice President TM Asha Rani,
Vice President Public Relations TM Bijal Karia and Secretary TM Anagha
Madhusudan.
In October 2019, as a part of Angels Membership marketing Campaign,
had organised their stall at TM Sushma Anil’s Shinning Rays event.
In October 2019, Angels also celebrated their Club’s 14th Anniversary with
dances and celebrations. The event was chaired by TM Mona Zulaika

In January 2019, Angels organised ‘The Desert Camp’ for
their families and friends. Number of games, Yoga session,
couple dance were organised by the event chair TM Anagha
Madhusudan.
In February 2019, Angels took up as Segt-at-arms team
under their Chief-Segt-at-arms DTM Rosaline Roy Charlie at
World Champion Ramona Smith’s event ‘ Discover the
Champion Within’. The powerful angels proved the efficiency
as soldiers guarding the entry.
In March 2019, angels went an extra mile by organising ‘The
Blood Donation Camp’ chaired by TM Muneera Mohammed.
Through this camp angels showed their love and care for the
community at large by making toast masters family donate
their blood.
DTAC 2019 was another remarkable event where first time
Angels the ladies only Credentials team handled Credentials
under the Credentials Chair DTM Rosaline Roy Charlie.
Angles meticulous and professional handling of credentials
were appreciated by the entire district 20 members and
leaders.
Every event and challenge made us to learn and grow as a
team and helped us to build our confidence. We strongly
believe in the core values of toastmasters Integrity,
Respect, Service and Commitment. Being the Charter
President of Angels, I feel privileged, honoured and proud to
see the success of my club each year. Angels toastmasters
club is reaching greater heights every year. We definitely ore
our gratitude to our mentors and district leaders for always
being there supporting, helping and guiding us.

May the success journey of Angles Toastmasters Club
continue……

President

Angels Toastmasters Club
TM FAREEDA BAI THANZEER

CC,CL,ALB

It is the time for reflection as we, Angels, have completed a full term
successfully. Our club has achieved President’s Distinguished status again,
4th time in a row. When the new EXCOM started with me being President of
Angels, we were concentrating more on the activities which we could do to
benefit ourselves, toastmasters and the society around us. We had the
opportunity and privilege to work with an excellent, hardworking, creative and
enthusiastic members.

A Team truly means TOGETHER EVERYONE ACHIEVE MORE. We could
knit the impossible possible with the Toastmaster’s core values RISE
(RESPECT/INTEGRITY/SERVICE/ EXCELLENCE) and Angels core values
DREAM, BELIEVE AND ACHIEVE. Our TEAM gave us the strength and
support to move forward and together we achieved great things for the club.
Our term started in July 2018 and we’ve successfully Conducted YLP &
finale for 25 participants which was acclaimed and appreciated widely.
Conducted promotional booth, desert camp and a blood donation camp on
Term 2019.
- Achieved District awards during DTAC 2019
- The PQD Award for 100% Pathways enrollment
- The PR awards for Best PR Team and the BEST Promotional Booth award.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank each and every Angel who
supported and guided and also took active roles in all the activities
conducted. The most important thing to remember is to have fun along with
learning as Toastmasters journey is meant to be enjoyable with self-
development. According to sculptor, Michelangelo, “Every block of stone has
a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it.” In the same
way, our task is to recognize the abilities and gifts in each member and to
nurture these in a unique way, in order for them to realize their full potential.
I am truly privileged to be the President of Angels Toastmasters Club, I am
also privileged to have met the true angels from this club. Together we
learned, achieved and moved mountains.
Have Fun TEAM!!!

V. P. EDUCATION

Angels Toastmasters Club

TM ASHA RANI

CC,CL,ALB

I would like to thank each and every member for helping me
do my duties well, as your Vp Education. I also thank all our
members, whose great enthusiasm and supportive
attitude makes each meeting fun-filled and educative. Our
members completed 1CL 1ALB,1 ACS,1 ACG, Pathways
Level1 Completion by 4 members, Pathways level2
Completion by 2 members and thereby we were able to get
all 6 points from our educational goals. We were also able to
bag an award for 100% pathways enrollment.
We all join Toastmasters to become great speakers and
great leaders All great speakers were great leaders. That's
why Toastmasters International considers itself Where
Leaders are Made. In Toastmasters, instead of focusing on
a weakness, we are trying to minimize or overcome it, the
Toastmasters program works by helping us to identify and
build on our strengths. As our members work their way
through the Toastmasters program at their own pace, they
are challenged to identify and utilize their strengths in their
speeches.
My journey as Vp Education was completely a learning
experience for me. I believe that I have come a long way
from where I have started. I extend my gratitude to each one
of you who had helped me in my journey.
"If you want to grow as a person, surround yourself with
people who want to grow - and you will all grow together."

VPPR

TM BIJAL KARIA

“We all know how important communication is in life and how daunting it
can be to many. Toastmasters’ program develops confidence in people to
effectively communicate.“
On my first day as I entered the room filled with ladies, my head was
flooded with thoughts and questions as to whether I will get along with
them, whether I will be able to perform well, whether I will be able to keep
up with everyone’s expectations…but the enthusiastic and multi-talented
members of Angels Toastmasters Club encouraged and motivated me at
every step.

The year 2018-19 was a great start of the year with a power pact YLP
session followed by a chain of events like promotional booth at Shining
Rays Event, Shakhir desert camp and Blood Donation Drive. I was
previleged to take up the role of PR Head for a noble cause like the Blood
Donation Drive.
When you look at the greatest leaders, one of the traits they possess is the
ability to communicate effectively, which ender scores the importance of
communication skills. Taking up the role of VPPR in the year 2018-19 has
enhanced my communication skills to a great extent. I’m glad Angels
banged two PR awards at the district level this year. Best PR Team Award
and Best Promotional Booth.I hope our club comes out with flying colors in
the coming years with enhanced performance taking up challenges.

SECRETARY

TM ANAGHA MADHUSUDAN

27 January 2018 was when I finally decided to conquer my
inhibitions and start my toastmasters’ journey. The first day when I
stepped into Angels, the smile, warmth and family environment made
me instantly want to become a part of this supportive group of
likeminded people. Not only has the toastmasters’ experience helped
me in enriching my public speaking skills and shaping my personality
but imparted me precious lessons on leadership skills. The members
bestowed their faith in me by electing me the secretary of the club in
the same year.

This helped me take up roles and responsibilities for various other
events both within the toastmasters’ circle and outside, that gave me
the chance to meet, interact and socialize with so many brilliant
minds. I wish to continue this journey with the same enthusiasm that
I began with, as I foresee myself carving a niche in this fascinating
world of toastmasters by unleashing my true potential and my vision
is to make the club and all my loving and supportive members proud
of me.

Success

A lot of people still do, conveniently assume that hard work is a myth
and most of the people who got 'big' in life were bestowed by
'blessings' that came from some genie.
Perhaps you feel success is an aura or a feeling, or maybe even
what the mass media portrays it to be? But the real deal according
to me lies at the footsteps of understanding and realizing that
success is an absolute phenomenal structure that cannot be
reduced to simple factors of job profiling, money in the bank ratio,
social media acceptance and a lot more that the insecure has tried
to inject.
To me personally, success is the journey that I have been taking for
the past few years to unearth the cosmic truth that the idea of
"Success“ sucks to be material. The man who is really happy from
success shall experience beauty of life in many ways, the worth of
which may not be able to be reduced to simple numbers.
The winds are bound to take a wonderful turn and the year 2019 is
half the way. With that said, let me reassure you with a simple
ideology that Buddha left us with:
"In the end only 3 things matter- how much you loved, how much
you lived and how graciously you let go of certain things not meant
for you"
Create magic through your life; I have found my life's purpose and
every day is a journey to acknowledge that more has to be done.
Blessed with a beautiful large family, a group of friends, multiple
mentors and lots of failures, it is an absolute bliss to realize that
every moment is a gift. Making everyone happy is not in our hands
but being happy with everyone is certainly in our hands….Carpe
Diem !!!!

PAST AREA 13 DIRECTOR

Angels Toastmasters Club
TM MUNEERA MOHAMED ALI

Journeying with The Angels

“Success is a journey, not a destination.” is a quote by Arthur Ashe that I
read somewhere and didn't quite understand then. I was too much into
destination happiness. My belief that happiness would come after my next
achievement- my CC, my CL, my next speech, my next meeting.....but I
never quite achieved it.
It's been seven years since I joined Toastmasters and every year, every
meeting, every role that I took up has been a learning experience. This
year, I learnt a lot as District 20 Club Quality Chair. I got to know more
about the clubs and leaders in both Kuwait and Bahrain.
Another wonderful experience this term was organizing the Angels
Toastmasters Club Blood Drive. It was a thoroughly rewarding experience
knowing that I and my team were able to do our bit to give back to the
society and help save lives!
The icing on the cake was being able to meet the WCPS 2018 TM Ramona
Smith and Toastmasters Immediate Past International Director DTM Balraj
Arunasalam at Discover the Champion Within and greeting my fellow
Toastmasters from Kuwait at DTAC- Bahrain this year.
And what I learnt after such an eventful term was that success indeed was
a journey because I failed to experience the happiness that my ACS was
sure to bring but which was just another certificate compared to the tons of
knowledge and growth that I achieved doing all the little roles that I took up
this year.
And all of this learning through enjoyment wouldn't have been possible but
for my fellow Angels who have always been supportive and ever helpful.
And this is where I have to admit that like success, happiness too is a
journey of embracing challenges, doing your best and being around people
who are able to bring out the best in you. Proud to be an Angel!

A toastmaster’s journey!

I had a little seed, embedded in my heart,
I just needed some sunshine to give myself a start.
I met some pretty angels, who encouraged me to dream
They nurtured my little seed and built my self-esteem.

They helped me through my initial days,
And checked me when I was wrong.

They walked me through the Pathways
And watched me growing strong.

My plant is growing really fast,
And the branches soaring high!
Now I’m ready to offer my shade

To travellers passing by.

The journey of a toastmaster, my friends!
Begins with a little seed

Take care to nurture it all the time
And watch it grow indeed!

If ever you need a friendly guide
And don’t know where to go,

Angels Toastmasters welcomes you
To help you learn and grow.

(Poem by TM Indu Nair)

Since I came across Toastmasters, every

association with it had been fruitful. Day 1 when I

went as a guest it taught me to be a better listener.

Since then after every meeting and every role I

played, I had taken home something positive and

MEMBER better. The Table Topics helped me think on my foot
which used to be a freezing moment before I joined
TM LEEBA Toastmasters. One of the most precious things I

CC, CL, ALB learnt from Toastmasters is to widen

my domain. This change in me happened during the time when Angels

Toastmasters Club had organized a blood donation camp under the

leadership of TM Muneera Mohammad. Since then I have made it a

appoint not only to do every single bit I can do for our society but also

encourage others to look beyond the traditional arena.

People will forget what you said, but people will never forget what you did

to make them feel better. At this Blood Donation Mission I rather we as a

team realized, that even the smallest deed we do for the society can be a

life changing moment for many.

New Member On the occasion of international yoga day, last
year, my friend forced me into taking yoga
TM DR. VEENA session. Till that time I used to wonder how
people control their mind from the happenings
around them. Although I used to do yoga during
my school days I never knew its benefits, it took
decades for me to restart it. Now I am amazed
by the fact that how the meditation helps to
control our stress,

Sara Lazar, who has PhD in Neuroscience of Yoga and Meditation, tell
that we can have brains of 25yers even at the age of 50years if we
regularly do yoga and meditation. Her study on 16 healthy young
individuals has showed that MBSR (meditation based stress release) is
associated with changes in gray matter concentration in brain regions
involved in learning and memory processes, emotion regulation, self-
referential processing, and perspective taking. So dear friends, on this
day of international yoga day, start doing meditations and yoga and
prevent shrinkage of cortexes and look healthy and relaxed.
