The increased cancer risk among firefighters is a
major concern all over the world - and when you
are out on a call, your turnout gear is often exposed
to dangerous particles.

VIKING has developed and tested a tactical solution
for the next generation of protection. With our new
MACS gear, you remove the contaminated outer
shell after exposure at an incident, leaving the liner
as a wearable and weather protective suit for the
road home.

No corners are cut with the VIKING MACS - from
the uniquely flexible design to the intelligent use
of high-end materials. The strategy behind this
approach not only provides extra protection but
also extends the lifetime of the gear.

How It Works

The outer shell of the coat and pants are attached
to the liner with a zipper system. Before boarding
the fire truck, simply unzip the outer shell and place
it in a dissolvable washing bag.

When back at the station, throw the bag in the
washing machine. This helps reduce your exposure
to dangerous particles and prevents them from
contaminating your body, the truck, the station and
the people handling the suits for washing.

VIKING MACS Detachable Outer Shell to Minimize
Exposure to Potentially Harmful
Particles

The jacket and pant have an outer shell that can be
detached from the liner with a zipper. Before entering
into the fire truck, you simply unzip the contaminated
outer shell and place in a dissolvable washing bag.

The inner liner will continue to protect you against
wind and weather. Upon arrival at the fire house,
throw the bag into the washing machine. You then zip
on your clean spare outer shell, and you are back in
service, thereby helping to prevent dangerous particles
from contaminating you and your surroundings.
