Welcome to our entry for the 2014 Beautiful Scotland Campaign. The constituted Broughty Ferry in Bloom Group takes forward stall at the Snowdrop-In:
Broughty Ferry’s entry in to the Coastal Resort category of the Campaign working in partnership with the City Council. The Group February 2014
is made up of a wide range of individuals who hold monthly meetings to co-ordinate the activities suitable for the Campaign, which
Council representatives are invited to attend.

Broughty Ferry received the Silver Gilt Award in 2013 and the group have been working hard to try and retain this level for 2014.

In the last year we have planned various events including the annual Garden Competition, Secret Garden Trail, and our
fundraising event the Snowdrop - In.

Projects we have worked on in the last year are the Floral Boat at the Harbour, hanging baskets for Brook Street and Gray Street;
planters in the Windmill car park, sunflower and edible garden situated in the grounds of Broughty Ferry Library and a planter in
Campfield Square. In addition to this we have adopted three new planters for Brook Street and a three tier planter on Douglas
Terrace. Plants for all these sites have been raised in the Dundee “In Bloom” groups’ poly-tunnel in the Community Garden in
Dawson Park, using plug plants bought from Pentland Plants.

Enjoy the Portfolio and we look forward to meeting you on the day! More photographs can be found on our Facebook page.

Best Wishes

Finance and Plans for the Future

Snowdrop In—Fundraising Event Images from Snowdrop In - 22 February 2014 Funding from Scottish Gardeners Forum

The group raised a modest £114.55 at the event in
February. It brought a welcome horticultural tea-
break on a Saturday in February to Campfield
Square. A good selection of local snowdrops were
on show. There was also cake n candy and a
plant stall. Members of the group provided the
cakes and the children of Balgillo Nursereies
provided a very colourful display of their own
baking!

Sponsor a Lampost!

Next year we are hoping to add to the amount of
hanging baskets in Broughty Ferry. We are
hoping members of the public/Traders and other
businesses will dig deep and ‘Sponsor a
Lampost’.

Balgillo Nurseries are raising money to sponsor
one or two and are doing all sorts of fundraising
activities with the little ones including a
sponsored litter pick.
