MAY 2023 | ISSUE 01 50 2023 ROSTER VALUE & AGE

MAY 2023 | ISSUE 01 51 The Fantasy Football Team was wheeling and dealing all offseason with regards to picks. When the draft finally got here the squad was sitting on 1.08, 2.07, 2.09, 2.10, 3.06, and 4.09. And of course the fireworks weren't done. The Fantasy Football Team traded up twice in the second round, both times with the Sister Kissers, and ended up picking at 2.06, 2.07, 2.09, and 2.10. And for one last hurrah, they traded into 4.12 to make the final pick of the draft. 2023 ROOKIE DRAFT RECAP AND GRADES OVERALL GRADE The Fantasy Football Team had a ton of picks in this draft and while they didn't nab any superstars, they did get the real life 1.01 at 1.08, some intriguing RB options, and a couple depth WRs. However one quibble is the pair of trade ups in a range in the draft where trading down often nets more value. Grade: C+ 1.08 Pick Player Team Pos 2023 Rookie Draft Picks 2.06 2.07 2.09 2.10 Bryce Young Roschon Johnson Tank Bigsby Josh Downs Michael Mayer CAR CHI JAX IND LV QB2 RB7 RB8 WR9 TE2 4.09 Chris Rodriguez WAS RB17 1.08 - BRYCE YOUNG, QB, ALABAMA Despite their professed love for WRs, the Fantasy Football Team passed on Zay Flowers at 1.08 and selected Bryce Young to add to Russell Wilson and Jared Goff. Young likely doesn't have a ton of upside in fantasy but should be a solid QB2. Grade: C+ 2.06 - ROSCHON JOHNSON, RB, TEXAS The team traded up to grab the senior RB that backed up Bijan Robinson. Johnson enters a crowded backfield but got decent draft capital and is a favorite of some analysts. Grade: B 2.10 - MICHAEL MAYER, TE, NOTRE DAME The draft's TE2 was drafted over a full round after the TE1 and it's arguable it was still a bad value especially for a team with a strong TE room. Unless Mayer breaks into the top 5 real life TEs he probably won't command a lot of trade value and will struggle to make the lineup. Grade: D 4.12 Puka Nacua LAR WR20 2.07 - TANK BIGSBY, RB, AUBURN With the very next pick the team grabbed the new backup to Travis Etienne, who actually got better real life draft capital than Johnson. Grade: B+ 2.09 - JOSH DOWNS, WR, NORTH CAROLINA GM Jason took a quick breather while the 2.08 was drafted before trading up again and getting back on the block for another pair of back to back picks. This time the pick was a WR, undersized Josh Downs out of UNC. Downs will pair with Anthony Richardson in Indy but might run into a speedbump running routes out of the slot with a QB who struggles with accuracy. Grade: B+ 4.09 - CHRIS RODRIGUEZ, RB, KENTUCKY Chris Rodrigues is a pounder in the mold of his real life teammate Brian Robinson. With Antonio Gibson set for free agency in 2024 and a new offensive coordinator in town, Rodriguez is a nice dart throw in the late 4th. Grade: B 4.12 - PUKA NACUA, WR, BYU Normally selecting any WR drafted as late as Puka Nacua is lighting the pick on fire, but the former BYU Cougar lands on a barren depth chart with a creative coach. He could surprise in 2023. Grade: B

The team won 8 games for the third straight year, and lost in the playoffs in the first round for the third straight year. After leading the league in scoring in 2021, the squad finished a middling 6th in 2022 and captured only a single weekly high score. As usual the Sister Kissers were active in the trade market, and overall it was a net loss starting in the offseason with the trade of AJ Brown and DK Metcalf for Jonathan Taylor, who was quickly then moved for D'Andre Swift. Big yikes. STRENGTHS Clearly the strength of the Sister Kissers is at WR, led by the top two dynasty WRs Justin Jefferson and Ja'Marr Chase. Keenan Allen, Deebo Samuel, and Jahan Dotson should all have solid seasons. It's not Superflex yet, but the Sister Kissers also have the league's best QB room with two top-8 QBs. WEAKNESSES One could argue this team is as weak at RB and TE as it is strong at WR and QB. With Kyle Pitts at TE that shouldn't be the case, but Pitts was abysmal in 2022 before his season ended due to injury. At RB it's JK Dobbins, injuryprone Rashaad Penny, and a bunch of rookies and scrubs...perhaps not a recipe for success in a 0.5 ppr league with 3 flex spots. 1.08 Pick 2.06 2.07 2.09 4.09 Notable Bench Players QB Trevor Lawrence QB6 Trade - '23 Player '22 Finish Acquired RB Chuba Hubbard RB50 Trade - '23 RB Jeff Wilson RB29 Trade - '22 RB Pierre Strong RB90 Draft 6.11 - '22 WR 2.09 Rondale Moore WR87 Trade - '22

The Sister Kissers have several players primed for a breakout/comeback including JK Dobbins (fully recovered from his knee injury) and Rondale Moore (scored 13 ppg in the three games prior to his injury), but this answer has to be Kyle Pitts. Pitts is a candidate for both a breakout and a comeback from the MCL injury that ended his dismal 2022 season. The fantasy points for Pitts were shockingly bad last year, but almost all the underlying numbers are pretty good. He was 1st or 2nd among all NFL TEs in target market share/game, targets/route and aDoT, and was 6th in the NFL among TEs in expected fantasy points despite the surprising lack of red zone targets. With Deebo Samuel expected to replace Tee Higgins and Calvin Ridley acquired and then traded away before ever playing a snap for the Sister Kissers, it will be up to recent acquisition Jahan Dotson to provide the firepower that in 2021 was supposed to come from guys like Gabe Davis and DJ Moore. Dotson missed time in 2022 but when healthy, showed acumen on deep passes and in the red zone, two areas that produce fantasy points in bunches. If he can continue to build chemistry with breakout hopeful Sam Howell, Dotson could find himself skyrocketing up dynasty rankings. MAY 2023 | ISSUE 01 59 In addition to their own 1st rounder (1.06), the Sister Kissers were able to build up a stockpile of 2nd rounders in the months approaching the 2023 rookie draft. Of course trade fever kicked in, strategies were adjusted, and the picks began moving like hot potatoes. To wit: The 2.08 was traded to Slush Fund Mooney for veteran Keenan Allen. The 1.06 was moved along with Alec Pierce to To Infinity and Bijan for Calvin Ridley and the 2.05, which was then traded to Sad's Lucky Buck for Rashaad Penny and the 3.05. The 2.04 was moved to The Fantasy Football Team for a 2024 2nd and 3rd. Jamaal Williams was traded to the Allen Carsons Project for the 3.09. The 2.02 along with Greg Dulcich were traded to the Sell Outs for the 3.03 and Jahan Dotson. Geno Smith was traded to the Wagons for the 3.04. And that was all just before the draft, where the Sister Kissers traded down twice (from the 2.06 and 2.09, both with The Fantasy Football Team) and up once (from the 3.04 to the 2.12 with To Infinity and Bijan). 2023 ROOKIE DRAFT RECAP AND GRADES OVERALL GRADE The Sister Kissers came into the 2023 rookie draft with the goal of adding future draft capital (being without a 2024 1st due to the ill-fated 2022 trade for DJ Moore) and adding RBs. Mission accomplished. The multiple trade downs in the 2nd round netted the team 2nd and 4th round picks in 2024 even after the trade up to 2.12. Brown, Evans, Abanikanda, and Gray all have potential paths to playing time in 2023 and all but Abanikanda could be starters in 2024 if everything breaks right. Grade: B+ 2.12 - CHASE BROWN, RB, ILLINOIS After two trade downs, the Sister Kissers finally traded up and made a pick, selecting Bengals rookie Chase Brown. With the depth chart behind beleaguered starter Joe Mixon wide open, Brown could definitely see playing time in 2023. Grade: B 3.03 - ZACH EVANS, RB, OLE MISS Zach Evans fell to the 6th round of the real NFL draft, but he was still a decent value at 3.03 especially since undrafted Sean Tucker went a pick before him. Grade: B 3.06 - SAM LAPORTA, TE, IOWA After Michael Mayer went in round 2, the TE3 Sam LaPorta fell all the way to the 3.06 where the Sister Kissers scooped him up despite rostering Kyle Pitts. TEs don't matter much but if LaPorta follows other Iowa alumni like George Kittle and TJ Hockenson in becoming a star at the NFL level, this would be a smash value. Grade: A 3.05 - ISRAEL ABANIKANDA, RB, PITT "Izzy" Abanikanda was the next RB off the board as the Sister Kissers loaded up with rookie fliers in a desperate attempt to build a workable RB room for 2023. While Abanikanda ostensibly landed in a bad spot behind superstar Breece Hall, Hall is recovering from a torn ACL and there's really only JAGs competing for the RB2 spot behind Hall. Grade: B+ 3.09 - ERIC GRAY, RB, OKLAHOMA The Sister Kissers' last pick was yet another RB, Eric Gray out of Oklahoma. Yet another RB in a competition for RB2 duties on his team, Gray could become a starter in 2024 if he can perform in 2023 and if Saquon Barkley walks. The team started 5-0 and finished 10-4, piling up close win after close win. Two of these in particular, a 53.20-51.22 win over To Infinity and Bijan in Week 5 and a 70.06-58.64 win over the Wagons in Week 7, likely contributed in a big way to the adoption of extra game vs. league median for 2023. In both those games, Sad's Lucky Buck was the second-lowest scoring team and won by playing the lowest-scoring team. Regardless, the squad secured the #4 seed and looked to return to the championship for the third time in the past four seasons. Unfortunately, the charmed season came to a crashing halt in the playoffs as GREATEST HITS absolutely rolled Sad's Lucky Buck, 149.24-82.88. STRENGTHS Sad's Lucky Buck has the best young WR duo this side of the Sister Kissers in Amon-Ra St. Brown and Chris Olave. Tony Pollard is also primed for a big year with Zeke Elliott finally done in Dallas. WEAKNESSES Unless this squad can continue the luck that's defined its recent run, it could be looking at some regression. Kyler Murray may not play at all in 2023, meaning some combination of Matt Stafford (acquired for a 2026 4th) and Brock Purdy will need to captain the ship. The WR depth after ARSB and Olave is lacking, as is the RB depth after Pollard. At TE, Darren Waller is a big question mark and Pat Freiermuth could likely end up the starter. Notable Bench Players QB Kyler Murray QB19 Trade - '21 Player '22 Finish Acquired RB Devone Achane - Rookie 1.05 RB Devin Singletary RB24 Waivers - '21 WR Adam Thielen WR32 Draft 1.09- '22 WR Tyler Boyd WR29 Trade - '22 TE Pat Freiermuth TE8 Trade - '22

Chris Olave had by all accounts a solid rookie season, but with a QB upgrade in Derek Carr and no other real receiving options added in the offseason, Olave could make the leap common to second year WRs. Olave's raw fantasy points last year were middling (WR25 overall finish), but he only scored four TDs and his underlying metrics were very solid: 26% target market share per game (84th percentile among all NFL WRs), 26% targets/route (91st percentile), 2.42 yards/route (92nd percentile), all with a 15.0 aDoT (90th percentile). Sad's Lucky Buck's semi-autodrafted first round pick will be immediately under the spotlight, both for his high draft status and the state of the squad's RBs behind Tony Pollard. Antonio Gibson saw himself supplanted by Brian Robinson last year, Devin Singletary went from one of the league's best offenses to one of the worst, and Khalil Herbert looked to be the clear starter in Chicago only to see his team sign D'Onta Foreman and then also spend a 4th round pick on Roschon Johnson. Achane meanwhile was drafted in the 3rd despite Miami only owning four total picks, and his speed is a perfect fit in the Dolphins' track meet offense. MAY 2023 | ISSUE 01 67 Sad's Lucky Buck came into the 2023 draft without their own 1st rounder (1.07), but luckily they had the Fantasy Football Team's from the 2021 James Robinson trade. That pick ended up being 1.05 so all was well that ended well. GM Sean couldn't attend the draft in person and was supposed to set his first five picks, but there was some sort of snafu. The team was able to get in the game after that and was present for their second pick onwards. 2023 ROOKIE DRAFT RECAP AND GRADES OVERALL GRADE it's tough to grade a draft where a top-5 pick was made somewhat by mistake, but then again, winners don't make excuses (and to their credit, Sad's Lucky Buck hasn't made any whatsoever). Achane wasn't a terrible pick although with Kyler Murray iffy, a QB would likely have been a better bet. Luke Musgrave was basically a wasted pick, but Hendon Hooker was a very nice late flier. Grade: C+ 1.05 - DEVONE ACHANE, RB, TEXAS A&M As mentioned, Devone Achane was the shocking pick at 1.05 with Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, and all non-JSN WRs still on the board. Achane should be a solid contributor but with his small frame he likely doesn't offer the type of impact a WR could even in 0.5 ppr scoring. Grade: D 2.05 - TYJAE SPEARS, RB, TULANE Tyjae Spears was one of the stars of the Senior Bowl, wowing onlookers with his route-running and shiftiness. Medical reports came out before the draft he doesn't have an ACL in one of his knees, which seems bad. While NFL RBs don't have long shelf lives anyway, tell that to the RB in front of Spears on the depth chart, Derrick Henry. Grade: B4.06 - PARKER WASHINGTON, WR, PENN STATE In the fourth round basically every pick is a dart throw. Washington landed in a decent spot but will have to overcome 6th round draft capital. Grade: C 3.07 - LUKE MUSGRAVE, TE, OREGON One pick after Sam LaPorta was drafted (real life draft capital: pick 35), Sad's Lucky Buck went with Luke Musgrave despite also rostering Pat Freiermuth and Darren Waller. Musgrave was picked 42nd overall by the Packers, so certainly not bad draft capital, but they also drafted Tucker Kraft with the 78th overall pick, making Musgrave both risky and redundant for Sad's Lucky Buck. Grade: D4.07 - HENDON HOOKER, QB, TENNESSEE This was a very nice pick. Similar to Will Levis at 2.11, if Hooker can eventually become a starter in Detroit he'll be surrounded be elite weapons and could pay back this 4.07 draft capital exponentially for Sad's Lucky Buck. This marked the third straight season that the squad finished among the top 3, following up on an 11-2 2020 season (#1 seed) and an 8-6 2021 season (#3 seed). In 2020 and 2021 Run CMC won in the first round of the playoffs only to fall in the semis; unfortunately in 2022 instead of breaking through, they fell in the first round 118.46-101.32 to the upstart Allen Carsons Project. STRENGTHS Following a big trade for Austin Ekeler in the 2023 offseason, Run CMC packs a 1-2 punch at RB that is unequaled in BTBLE. Stefon Diggs, Tyler Lockett, Mike Williams, and Mike Evans are steady veterans at WR. Overall, the firepower in Run CMC's starting lineup (assuming health with all these old bois) is the best in the league. WEAKNESSES The obvious weakness of Run CMC's roster is its age. Among the skill position players of note, only James Cook and Jordan Addison are young. This is definitely a team built to win it all, understandable since Run CMC has never tasted the glory of holding Basically the Best Trophy Ever aloft. While the team has managed to hold onto its 2024 1st for now, it's already without its 2024 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and Notable Bench Players 2025 1st. Justin Herbert was ok in 2022, but he definitely regressed compared to his breakout 2021 campaign. A rib injury early sustained early in the year likely hampered him - gone were the long bombs to random WRs like Jaylon Guyton that Herbert was known for. His aDoT instead dropped to miserable levels, leading to the dismissal of Anthony Lynn as offensive coordinator. With Kellen Moore on board, Quentin Johnston in the fold, and a clean bill of health, Herbert should be able to return to or even exceed the lofty heights of 2021, when he threw for 5,014 yards and 38 TDs. Run CMC made a big move by bringing in last year's overall RB1 to pair with last year's overall RB2. Ekeler may be in his last year with the Chargers and is 28 years old, potentially approaching the dreaded age cliff. But if he can give this team one more year of production, they could finally win it all. The Chargers brought in Kellen Moore to be their offensive coordinate and drafted Quentin Johnston in the first round, so they'll sport a new-look offense in 2023 - albeit one that will still likely run through Ekeler. MAY 2023 | ISSUE 01 75 After moving their 2023 1st for Mike Evans during the 2022 season, Run CMC came into this draft pretty short on picks. But they made a big move to ship off troubled Jameson Williams during the first round and secure a 1st rounder, which they used to reroll Williams. 2023 ROOKIE DRAFT RECAP AND GRADES OVERALL GRADE Even though their 3rd and 4th round picks will likely add nothing to their roster, Run CMC still grades out well for managing to get a mid-1st for Jameson Williams to reroll into a WR asset with likely a lower ceiling but a much higher floor. Grade: B 1.06 - JORDAN ADDISON, WR, USC That reroll was Jordan Addison out of USC, the WR2 off the board in the BTBLE draft and the WR3 in the real life draft. Addison should give Run CMC a lot more production than Jameson Williams did with his literal one catch in 2022, and injects some muchneeded youth into their WR room. Grade: A 3.08 - KAYSHON BOUTTE, WR, LSU Kayshon Boutte was once the next great LSU WR, but an ankle injury and off-field concerns caused him to plummet to the 6th round of the NFL draft where he was selected by noted WR graveyard New England. He still has some name value but there were probably better uses for this pick. MAY 2023 | ISSUE 01 77 2023 ROOKIE DRAFT RECAP AND GRADES GM Spotlight WITH SLUSH FUND MOONEY GM NICK D Slush Fund Mooney came into 2022 with the obvious goal of repeating as league champion, not only to tie the Sister Kissers and Hard Knox Life for most career 'ships, but claim that massive $1,100 slush fund that had been building since 2013. This offseason we were able to catch up with Slush Fund Mooney GM Nick D to gain some insight and reflection as we head into 2024 and he has the chance to three-peat. Q: Nick D, first congratulations on back to back championships and the slush fund! It was a long time in coming. Was there ever a time when you doubted your approach and were temped to blow it all up? A: Thanks, Commish. In true NFL fashion, I put the winnings towards a trip to Disneyland. I had some nice trade offers for some of my big guns that were fire which made them hard to turn down. Every time one of my WRs went down, which seemed to be every week, I thought about blowing it all up. Ekeler was living rent-free in Lorne’s head. Not giving into his persistent grinding was key. If I would have traded Ekeler away midseason, perhaps a few more dominoes would have fallen afterwards, hard to say. Now that Lorne finally got him, I look forward to Spiller taking over that backfield by the Fantasy Playoffs. Q: The Joe Mixon for DJ Moore traded looked tough right after it happened, but it ended up being key. Were there any other moves that you made (or didn't make) you feel helped you defend your title? A: Mixon had more TDs the first week I traded him away than DJ had all year, so ya, I was a little salty. But timing is everything in Fake Football. DJ came through in the playoffs. Outside of that I feel strongly that trading away Amon-Ra and Josh Allen for peanuts really helped bolster my fantasy karma. Those gifts are the real reason for my victories. Q: Do you prefer redraft or dynasty? Why? A: They both have their advantages. I get attached to my boys so I like that I can keep them year after year in this league. Redraft is basic. Getting to start from scratch each year is cool, and the actual draft is better in redraft versus a rookie only draft. I’m definitely a bigger fan of dynasty though. Q: In your opinion, who is the best trade partner in the league right now? What makes it so?

MAY 2023 | ISSUE 01 78 A: I have my circle of trade partners. I seem to get/make offers with the same few people. Evan is, hands down, the biggest trade degen in my books. I just looked back and he has offered me 684 trades this past month. All of which are fair trades. None of which I accepted. That said, although he can be extra, Evan is willing to make the big moves and will often be willing to pay up to make them happen. He understands the assignment. Q: Which team (other than yours) would you like to see succeed this year? Who would you like to see get taken down a peg? Other predictions on finishes this year? A: It would be dope if Lorne slayed this year. Maybe he trades away his future to win the 'ship. And then absolutely crumbles next year and finishes dead last. Then I get his first overall pick, grab the next CMC, and win another slusher in a few years. That would be Gucci. Q: What do you think is a realistic betting line on you completing the three-peat? A: +1400. I would need some big odds to take that bait. No cap. Q: Who is your favorite player in the NFL? Why? A: I’m a big DeVonta Smith guy. He’s lit. Small and quick. Sic hands. Future Super Bowl Champ. Go Birds. Q: Who do you think is the breakout player on your roster this year? A: Don’t sleep on Skyy. He is primed to make the big bucks. Toney will be hurt, in jail, or burn his feet in a cryochamber by week 4. Rice is a rookie so he will be quiet. Kelce is overrated. Skyy really doesn’t have any competition for targets on that team. To the moon! You’ll all be low-key jealous for Bateman this year too. Q: When we're all dead and gone, what do you hope they say about you in the BTBLE history books? A: OK, Boomer. That’s cute of you to think we will die. Technology bro, we are all living forever as conscious holograms. But let’s pretend for a minute that we will die (eye roll). I hope to be remembered as the guy who made the playoffs for the most consecutive years. And I want my name on all sides of our trophy. Q: What creeps you out or makes you cringe the most? A: Well, as I write this, I have a list of teen slang words open because using them makes me feel like a boss. I have been using them throughout this interview. I’m not sure if I am using them in the correct context, but I don’t care. One of the words that the kids are using happens to be “cringe”. So that’s fun. I feel so Cheugy by not knowing these new words. Skrrt. Q: If you could take back one move from your BTBLE career, what would it be? A: Trading away Kamara was sus. But I probably turned those picks into Chubb, Ekeler, a couple championships and a slusher, so I can’t throw too much shade on that trade. Q: If you were an animal, what kind of animal would you be and why? A: Honey badger. Unassuming, but ruthless. I look like a noob but there’s always a little more fight in me. You can never count me out. Q: What does a typical day look like for you? A: Well here’s the deal, I wake up in the morning and piss excellence. Nobody out there can hang with my stuff. I’m just a big hairy American winning machine. Also, sometimes I go for a jog. Q: Favorite type of alcohol to consume? A: These days, its Bumbu Rum. Neat. With a fancy ice cube. It hits different. Q: What is one of your favorite childhood memories? A: One fun memory was moving to Regina in 1990 and there were some kids hanging in the tree out front of the new house when we pulled up. Most of you know the little pukes that were out there that day. The Steiner kids and probably Sean Tetlow too. Many years of neighborhood tag ensued from that day on. Q: Any last words for the rest of the league? A: “Don’t smoke crack.” - LT And that concludes our interview with two-time defending champion Nick D. Did we learn a lot about him? Yes, but these answers opened the door to so many more questions. Thanks to Nick D for his time and we wish him the best of luck in 2023 as he looks to take our money yet again. - Evan S.

Since a championship loss to the Fantasy Football Team all the way back in 2016 and a semifinal loss to Sad's Lucky Buck in 2017, it's been a long dry spell for the Project that was finally broken in 2022. Bolstered by midseason acquisitions of Derrick Henry and Christian Kirk, they set team records for points and longest winning streak, overcame a 1-5 start, and even sprung an upset over perennial bridesmaids Run CMC before bowing out in the semis to eventual champion Slush Fund Mooney. STRENGTHS While Run CMC boasts the best RB pair in the league, the Project isn't far behind with "King" Derrick Henry and 2022 breakout star Josh Jacobs. The depth is solid as well with aging but steady veterans Alvin Kamara, James Conner, and Jamaal Williams. And of course Josh Allen is the starter at QB, giving the potential for 35+ bombs on any given week. WEAKNESSES The biggest foe this team faces is age. The average age of this squad is 27, the oldest in the league, and the only notable young player is Christian Watson. The team actually didn't have a single draft pick in the 2023 rookie draft, and has already moved its 2025 1st for, you guessed it, an old player (Calvin Ridley). While there's no shame in selling out for a 'ship, especially after having never won one, if it's not successful there could be another long dry spell in store for the Allen Carsons Project. Notable Bench Players QB Derek Carr QB17 Waivers - '22 Player '22 Finish Acquired WR Christian Kirk WR11 Trade - '22 RB Jamaal Williams RB8 Trade - '23 WR Zay Jones WR26 Trade - '22

Christian Watson started slow in 2022, but when he finally got healthy he was a revelation, scoring 7 TDs in a four game stretch from Weeks 10 through 13. Of course that rate can't continue (and indeed, Watson didn't find the end zone again the rest of the year), but an increase in snaps, routes, targets, and yards should offset any regression in TD rate. Watson has an untested QB in Jordan Love and faces competition from 2nd rounder Jayden Reed, but one of the NFL's preeminent athletes could be set to explode in 2023. The Allen Carsons Project's big move this offseason was moving its 2025 1st for Calvin Ridley. Ridley of course stepped away from the Falcons in the midst of an injury-plagued 2021 and was then suspended for all of 2022 for gambling. But if he can regain his 2020 form (overall WR4), he could potentially be the piece that complements stars like Josh Allen, Derrick Henry, Josh Jacobs, and Amari Cooper and gets this team over the hump and its name engraved on Basically the Best Trophy Ever. After winning it all in 2014, from 2015 to 2018 the team went 16-36 before exploding back onto the scene in 2019 and capturing their second championship. The 2022 season was a continuation of the recent success, with the same core team going 10-4 while beating out GREATEST HITS by a single point for the season scoring title and crushing the Sister Kissers 147.50-103.38 in the first round. Unfortunately the HITS got the last laugh with a 116.46-105.70 win in the semis, sending Hard Knox Life to the golf courses. STRENGTHS Aside from Dawson Knox and AJ Dillon, Hard Knox Life's starting lineup is about as good as it gets, highlighted by Jalen Hurts, Davante Adams, and Cooper Kupp. Saquon Barkley, Aaron Jones, and Terry McLaurin are solid veteran presences, and Ken Walker is a threat to score every time he touches the ball. WEAKNESSES This is another squad that's getting long in the tooth. Zay Flowers will have to deal with the pressure of carrying this team on his back as its stars age out. There's also a troubling lack of depth, especially if Jerick McKinnon doesn't continue to perform like peak Kareem Hunt at the Notable Bench Players end of every fantasy season. Cooper Kupp had a season for the ages in 2021, going for 145/1947/16 on a stunning 191 targets, averaging 21.6 points per game. In 2022 he was almost as good, averaging 20.2 before an ankle injury that ultimately ended his season. With both Kupp and Matt Stafford back healthy and the Rams having basically no one else to throw to, it's a solid bet that Kupp will return to his late career Jerry Rice impression, potentially propelling Hard Knox Life to what would be a leaguerecord third championship. As mentioned above, Zay Flowers is the only notable bench WR for Hard Knox Life (unless you count Nico Collins), and also the only depth player who isn't a crusty vet. The squad didn't have a second round pick so Flowers will have to ball out especially if injury strikes one of the team's top three WRs. Flowers finds himself in a nice situation, playing with a former MVP quarterback in an offense that's primed to pass much more than in recent seasons with the addition of Todd Monken at offensive coordinator. MAY 2023 | ISSUE 01 91 2023 ROOKIE DRAFT RECAP AND GRADES Hard Knox Life came into the 2023 rookie draft missing their second rounder thanks to trading with The Fantasy Football Team for team namesake Dawson Knox back in 2021. OVERALL GRADE While it wasn't flashy, Hard Knox Life had a pretty solid draft. One nitpick would have been to grab at least one dart throw RB to reinforce an aging and shallow group, but with only three picks, not every hole could be patched. Grade: B+ 1.10 - ZAY FLOWERS, WR, BOSTON COLLEGE After To Infinity and Bijan surprisingly took Dalton Kincaid at 1.09, Hard Knox Life basically ran to the podium to select Zay Flowers, clearly the last player in a big tier. Grade: A+ 3.10 - TYLER SCOTT, WR, CINCINNATI Tyler Scott was well-liked by several analysts and goes to a Bears team that could say goodbye to both Darnell Mooney and Chase Claypool when they become free agents after the 2023 season. They were second in league scoring but thanks almost entirely to a 119.14- 117.34 loss to Hard Knox Life put up a 9-5 record and #5 seed. That loss above represented another instance of the second-highest score losing to the high score. GREATEST HITS smashed Sad's Lucky Buck 149.24-82.88 in the first round and got their revenge on Hard Knox Life in the semis, winning 116.46-105.70 and setting up their rematch with the Fund. Unfortunately the HITS couldn't pull out the win and fell 110.50-96.82. STRENGTHS Bouyed by 2022's worst move (the Sister Kissers trading AJ Brown, DK Metcalf, and the pick that became Jakobi Meyers for Jonathan Taylor), the HITS have the league's best foursome of WRs to combine with the best QB and fantasy-breaking TE Travis Kelce. WEAKNESSES Clearly this team is as thin as a razor blade at RB. Rhamondre Stevenson broke out in a big way in 2022, but behind him the HITS don't have a single viable RB. The current starter would be Zeke Elliott, who isn't on an NFL roster as of this writing. After missing the entire 2022 season due to the torn ACL suffered in the 2021 Super Bowl, OBJ is finally back in the NFL. Now with the Ravens, the former Hall of Fame-looking talent will seek to make a comeback with 2019 MVP Lamar Jackson throwing him the ball. Still just 30 years old, OBJ might have one or two good seasons left in the tank. Pretty much by default the answer here is Tank Dell, since for the most part the GREATEST HITS have stood pat this offseason. The diminutive WR goes to a wide open depth chart and #2 overall pick CJ Stroud went to bat for him, so he has those things going for him. They wisely tried to trade back into the 2024 draft but were unsuccessful and had to make both their picks. OVERALL GRADE When you only have late picks and your team is in desperate need of live bodies at RBs, taking double WRs is a curious decision to say the least. Then again, the HITS have been one of the most successful teams in the league over the past three seasons, and having Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce covers up a lot of warts.
