ZAPIN
YA SALAM
Noraniza Idris is a famous Malaysian
singer and has the nickname of the
'queen of ethnic pop'. The genre that
he brings is Malaysian rhythm which is
synonymous with the existing culture
in Malaysia. The song Ya Salam is
one of the songs from the album
Iktiraf released in 2000. This song
uses a zapin rhythm which is a song
that is commonly used in zapin dance
performances.
CLASSICAL ARABIC TURKEY
HIJAZ MANDIRA
This song is a Turkish old folk song that was
written by Sultan Abdulaziz, the 32nd Sultan of
the Ottoman Empire and reigned between 25
June 1861 and 30 May 1876. He was the son of
Sultan Mahmud II and succeeded his brother
Abdülmecid I in 1861. He was interested in
literature and was also a classical music
composer. Some of his compositions have been
collected in the album "European Music at the
Ottoman Court" by the London Academy of
Ottoman Court Music. Originally, the meter of this
song is 7/8 with a very fast tempo, because this
song is used as court music during the Ottoman
Empire. Hicaz or Hijaz is a name of maqam, one
of the crucial scale in Oud.
FUSION SALSA
LAMBADA
"Lambada", also known as "Chorando Se Foi
(Lambada)" or "Llorando Se Fue (Lambada)"
(both meaning 'crying [he/she] went away' in
Portuguese and Spanish, respectively), is a song
recorded by French-Brazilian pop group Kaoma.
The song was released on July 1989, composed by
Chico de Oliveira and Gonzalo Hermosa-
Gonzales. The genre of this song is dance salsa
that was synonym to Brazilian culture.
SELF-COMPOSED
INANG SUMAZAU
The song was created with inspiration from inang rhythm of
Ketipung Payung that represent the culture of the Malay
community, blended with Sumazau paced song, which is a
synonym for dance movement of Kadazandusun in Sabah.
Despite of the harmonious peace in Malaysia among the
community, this song I created with a simple beat and
chords as for my own level. The key of the song is C Major.
