Southern Laos Investment & Agricultural Production and Business Company participated in the 2026 East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC), an investment, trade, and tourism cooperation forum on April 3 in Pakse, Laos. The event was co-organized by the Da Nang City People's Committee, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Pakse, and the Champasak Provincial Government, drawing broad participation from the regional business community. At the forum, Mr. Nguyen Nhat Tuan, Deputy General Director of Southern Laos Agriculture Company, presented the company's large-scale, integrated, circular agricultural project spanning over 31,000 hectares across Attapeu and Sekong provinces, with a total investment of $750 million. To date, the project has completed its core technical infrastructure and established pilot production models, including dedicated banana cultivation and a combined cattle breeding and fruit farming operation.Going forward, the company plans to expand its crop and livestock production models and diversify into integrated products such as bird's nest, banana fiber, and organic fertilizer. It is targeting export revenues of over $500 million by 2028 and aims to create approximately 25,000 local jobs.Beyond direct investment, the company will launch cooperation programs with local farmers and businesses to develop an organic, integrated circular agricultural economy across southern Laos — with the goal of becoming a model agricultural production zone in Laos within the global agricultural supply chain. The company is also working to complete legal procedures for establishing an agro-industrial park and bonded warehouse areas in Attapeu Province.During the forum, company representatives proposed that the Lao Government consider upgrading and expanding National Highway 18B — a 110-kilometer road connecting Attapeu Province to the Phoukeua–Bo Y international border crossing between Laos and Vietnam — under a buildand-transfer arrangement. Improving this transport link is expected to strengthen logistics capacity and enhance connectivity along the entire East-West Economic Corridor.Through its participation in the forum, Southern Laos Agriculture Company reaffirmed its active role in fostering regional cooperation and advancing modern, sustainable organic agriculture in Laos.By Thanh ThaoSouthern Laos Agriculture Companyjoins EWEC 2026 Forum, promotes cross-border agricultural cooperationDelegates and businesses attending the 2026 East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC)Mr. Nguyen Nhat Tuan, Deputy General Director of Southern Laos Agriculture Company, speaking at the forumThe EWEC 2026THACO FEATURES6

In March 2026, Chu Lai Port commissioned its first solar power system, marking a significant step in adopting clean energy for port operations. The project aims to reduce operating costs and enable more competitive service pricing for customers. The project is rolled out in three phases, with a planned capacity of 5,100 kWp. Phase 1 covers two consecutive rounds in 2026. The first round, launched in January 2026, has a capacity of 700 kWp across nearly 5,000 m2. The second round, set for April 2026, will add 800 kWp over more than 7,200 m2. Together, the two rounds will bring Phase 1 to a combined capacity of 1,500 kWp, powered by approximately 2,300 solar panels, with an estimated annual output of 2.1 million kWh.Subsequent phases will add a further 3,600 kWp (equivalent to over 5 million kWh per year), deployed across the port's warehouse and infrastructure network. At full capacity, the solar system will cover its electricity needs, particularly for refrigerated container operations and the agricultural logistics chain.CHU LAI PORT launches SOLAR POWER SYSTEM TO LOWER COSTS FOR CUSTOMERSSpanning 140 hectares, including 20 hectares of warehouses, Chu Lai Port is well-positioned for rooftop solar development. Strong solar energy in Central Vietnam ensures a stable power supply, supporting continuous cargo handling and storage operations. By generating power on-site, the port can significantly lower its electricity costs, one of the greatest cost drivers in port operations, especially for refrigerated containers and warehouses, and subsequently offering more flexible and competitive pricing.Chu Lai Port operates its first solar power system, taking a step to integrating clean energy into port operations8THACO FEATURESWEEKLY BULLETIN • 313
The port aims to maintain stable long-term service rates, protecting customers from fluctuations in fuel and electricity prices. It will also optimize storage fees, refrigerated container operations, and related logistics services, helping importers and exporters, particularly in the agricultural sector, reduce supply chain costs and improve business efficiency.Beyond cost savings, the solar power project reduces greenhouse gas emissions, dependence on conventional energy sources, and strengthens the port's green development goals, enhancing Chu Lai Port's competitiveness as the logistics industry shifts toward sustainability.Amidst rising energy costs and increasingly stringent emissions reduction requirements, investing in a solar power system is not merely a technical solution but a long-term strategy, enabling Chu Lai Port to secure its own energy resources, help customers optimize costs, and advance sustainable development.By Phuong ThaoSolar electricity is used to power cargo handling, warehousing, and yard operations at the portThe solar power system enables customers save costs and improve supply chain efficiency9THACO FEATURES

As the hot season approaches, skin becomes more sensitive. Rising UV levels don't just darken the complexion; they quietly accelerate aging and damage skin cells. Skincare routines help, but what you eat matters just as much. The right diet gives your skin the building blocks it needs to repair itself, stay hydrated, and fight off environmental damage.Watermelon, cucumber, and winter melon are warm-weather staples for good reason. Their high-water content helps cool the body, supports detoxification, and keeps skin moisturized — reducing the dryness and flaking that hot weather often brings.Grapes contain resveratrol and ellagic acid, two powerful antioxidants that reduce oxidative stress and limit UV-related cell damage. Eating grapes regularly can strengthen the skin's natural defenses against sun exposure, lowering the risk of dark spots and premature aging.Spinach, kale, and lettuce are rich in lutein and zeaxanthin — compounds that shield skin from environmental damage. They're also high in water and fiber, supporting digestion while helping skin maintain its natural moisture levels.Aloe vera is a summer skin essential.
