Introduction of the Mosque There are 2 questions for the Introductions of the mosque Al-A'raf Mosque What is the name of the mosque? Provide background information. Explain the importance and relevance of your project and its results The importance of this project is mostly because it teaches students more about the mosque. It also nuture the love for mosque among students. Why did you choose to build the selected mosque model We chose to build this selected mosque model as it has a uniqeu colour pattern and design. We mostly took inspiration from the Blue Mosque in Turkey, The Shah Alam Mosque and finally, Masjid Nabawi
What is the mosque that inspires your mosque model The mosque that inspire our mosque the most is the Blue Mosque in Turkey, this is because it has a unique blue colour combination. Secondly, we took some inspiration from Masjid Shah Alam as it has a beutidul pattern on it's dome. Finnally we took some inspiratoin of the size of the mosque from Masjid Nabawi in Saudi Arabia. Masjid Nabawi has a uniquely big size.
Unfortunately, this is a fictional mosque . Explain the history behind the selected mosque model.
Infrastructure of masjid Al-Araf The infrastructure of masjid Al-Araf includes: main hall, large entrance, elevators, wudhu ' and parking lots. The main hall is important because every Friday, mass prayers will take place and sometimes the masjid will hold events. The main hall is also the main place for people to pray. 1.
2. The large entrance is on of the unique things about our mosque. This area is the main area of recreation. In the event that a feast is held, it will be held here. This part is largely inspired by the Blue Mosque. 3. Because our mosque is quite big, and the mosque itself is raised on the ground, people need a way to get up. This is why there is an elevator, so people can get up to the second floor.
4. The wudhu ' area is easily one of the more important areas of a masjid. It serves the purpose to purify minor hadath. If we do not have wudhu ' , then we can't perform prayers. 5. Parking lots are more needed now because people often drive cars to the mosque. If a very large event is held, it would be held in the entrance in addition to the parking lot.
Prominent features in our mosque: Qubba' , Minaret and Platform The Qubba is a bit different from other Qubba. Instead of being a circle, it is 2 pyramids attached onto each other, one pyramid being slightly smaller. On the top of these, there is a star and a moon, symbolising Islam. 1. It looks like this =
Prominent features in our mosque: Qubba' , Minaret and Platform 2. The minarets are tall towers usually surrounding the mosque. Our mosque has 4 pillars, one of which has a megaphone in it so people can hear the azan. 3. The platform raises the mosque above the ground. This is good in case a flood ever happens, and provides lots of space to pray in.
History, Geography and Societal of the mosque 1.Compare the architecture of the mosque from three (3) different mosques. The masjid is unique because it is huge compared to other masjid, the colour of the masjid is brighter and it has mor details.Unfortunately, this is a fictional mosque but our team can explain about the history of the selected mosques. For the blue mosque it was built between 1609 and 1616, by the architect Mehmet Ağa, instructed by Sultan Ahmed I. It was designed as an imperial show of strength to complement the imposing Hagia Sophia Mosque, which faces it across Sultanahmet Square.Masjid al Nabawi is the second holiest mosque in Islam, the second largest mosque in the world after the Masjid alHaram in Mecca. It is resting place of the Prophet Muhammad. It was built by the Prophet himself, next to the house where he settled after his migration to Medina in 622 AD.Construction of the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque began in 1982, and the mosque was opened on 11 March, 1988. Due to the colour of the cupshaped dome, the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque is often called the Blue Mosque.
2. How demographic influences the architecture/ structure of the mosque? The mosque is located in a big city that has a lot of people so the masjid is big and can fit 1200 people. The masjid is also an easy access for the people in the city to pray thier daily prayers, sunnah prayers, learn about Islam, and acts as a community center. 3.Identify the function/use of mosques in the society. The function of the masjid is for people to pray, read Qura, place where people can learn more about Islam and acts as a community center.
Self perspective: I have learnt that I have no teamwork or leadership skills. I have faced multiple hardships in this project, the main ones being a lack of a plan and lack of communication. I feel that this is a very challenging project because of those hardships, but I should have done better, and should have planned earlier.
Social Perspective. I believe our project can benefit society in many ways. Our mosque is bery large, and techincally has two levels so that many people can pray at a time. It also contains lifts which can bring many people to the upper platform, even disabled people. However, there is a risk of people falling off of the raised platform.
Moral values We have learnt to improve our communication and planning. This project has better improved our creativity, and has also taught us to not to feel bad when people started making fun of our mosque. We learnt that we had to do our projects earlier so that we can finish earlier as well.
