Oneida County is a county located in the state of New York, with the county seat
being Utica. The county is named in honor of the Oneida, an Iroquois League or
Haudenosaunee tribe that had long occupied this territory by the time of European
encounter and colonization. Oneida County is also part of the Utica–Rome, NY
Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Oneida County is part of a center of transportation developments that have helped
control the growth of the state and part of the North Eastern United States. The
county holds the upper reaches of the Mohawk River, which flows eastward to the
Hudson River. You will also find streams flowing to the Great Lakes, the St. Lawrence
River and the Susquehanna River in the area. There are multiple things to do here,
from art exhibitions, to museums, to outdoor festivals, to boating, hiking and more.
The golf courses in the area are known as some of the best in the state. The popular
Adirondack Scenic Railroad will even take you from Oneida County to the Adirondack
Mountains. Whether you’re looking for adventure or a small getaway, Oneida County
