Knox County is located in the state of Maine with the county seat being Rockland. The
county is named in honor of Herny Knox, an American Revolutionary War general and
Secretary of War, who lived in the county from 1795 until his death in 1806. The county was
established in April, 1860, and is the most recent county to be created in Maine. It was carved
from parts of Waldo and Lincoln counties.
Lincoln County is another county in Maine located to the west of Knox County and its
county seat is Wiscasset. The county was established in 1760 from a portion of York County,
Massachusetts and was named after the English city Lincoln, the birthplace of Massachusetts
Bay Provincial Governor Thomas Pownall. At its founding, Lincoln County accounted for
three-fifths of the state's land, and stretched east to Nova Scotia. Thirteen counties were cut
out of this land including Sagadahoc County off to the southwest.
Sagadahoc County is part of the Mid Coast Area as well and has the county seat of Bath.
The county was initially part of York and, later, Lincoln County before being set off and
incorporated in 1854. The name is derived from the "Sagadahoc River", an early name for the
Kennebec River.Samuel de Champlain led the first known visit of Europeans to the region.
The county is also part of the Portland–South Portland, ME Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Waldo County is a county located mid coast area of Main and its county seat is Belfast. The
county was founded in February, 1827 from a portion of Hancock County and named after
Brigadier-General Samuel Waldo, proprietor of the Waldo Patent.
There is plenty to see and do here in the Mid Coast Maine Area. Find some family fun
activities, outdoor adventure or do some relaxing with friends. Come explore the outdoors,
do some hiking or biking, go fishing, boating, golfing or attend an outdoor event. Come grab
a bite to eat or do some shopping, enjoy a live theatre show or explore the historical
landmarks around the area. No matter what kind of adventure you’re looking for, you’re sure
to find something here in the beautiful Mid Coast Maine Area!

Health Health

Excellent health care…
Close to home.

Having good health overall is a major key to a long and healthy life. Finding ways to
take care of your health can aid in recovery and help you feel better daily. Get routine
check-ups and visit your doctor when you're not feeling well. Sometimes, it is hard to
tell whether not feeling well is due to a side-effect of medicine, a symptom of a health
disorder or any other different health problem. Talk to your doctor or other health care
specialist for any other questions or information.
