Dakota County is the third-most populous county in the state of Minnesota. The county
seat is the city of Hastings while the largest city is Lakeville. Dakota County is named after
the Dakota Sioux tribal bands who settled in the area. Dakota County is also included in
the Minneapolis–St. Paul–Bloomington, MN–WI Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is the
sixteenth largest metropolitan area in the United States. The county is bordered by the
Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers on the north, and the state of Wisconsin to the east.
There is plenty to see and do here in the Dakota County Area. Find some family fun
