Welcome
Welcome to the
Neighborhood
Cameron County is the southernmost county in the U.S. state of Texas, with the
county seat being Brownsville. The county also borders the Gulf of Mexico on the east.
The county was founded in 1848 and is named after Captain Ewen Cameron, a soldier
during the Texas Revolution. During the later 19th century and through World War II,
Fort Brown was a US Army outpost here, stimulating the overall development of the
city of Brownsville. Cameron County is part of the Brownsville–Harlingen, TX Metro-
politan Statistical Area, as well as the Brownsville–Harlingen–Raymondville, TX
Combined Statistical Area.
The city of Brownsville is a partly tropical paradise of palm trees, unique flowers,
exotic birds and warm breezes. The area is full of Texas history, fine arts, shopping,
golf and many outdoor activities. Since the city is located on the banks of the Rio
Grande, there are many beaches nearby as well. The area is great for anyone to relocate
or just take a getaway.

Health
Excellent health care…
Close to home.
Having good health overall is a major key to a long and healthy life. Finding ways to take care of
your health can aid in recovery and help you feel better daily. Get routine check-ups and visit your
doctor when you're not feeling well. Sometimes, it is hard to tell whether not feeling well is due to
a side-effect of medicine, a symptom of a health disorder or any other different health problem.
Talk to your doctor or other health care specialist for any other questions or information.
