Halone, the Fury First Astral Moon | Ice "She who is named Halone shall preside over the glaciers. Her duty: to hold the melting ice at bay, and imbue men with constancy and tranquility." Halone the Fury is the patron of the Holy See of Ishgard. The Ishgardian church believes that Halone, the goddess of war, is the mightiest of all of the Twelve dieties. A statue of Halone can be seen in Saint Reymanaud's cathedral, located in the heart of Ishgard. There, she has been carved as a fierce warrior wielding a spear, a bronze greatshield at her side. Her symbol portrays three diagonal spears. Visit The Mark of Halone at: The Fury's Gaze (x7.5, y31.6) via the nearest Aetheryte: Camp Dragonhead, Coerthas Central Highlands Menphina, the Lover First Umbral Moon | Ice "She who is named Menphina shall preside over the moon. Her duty: to perpetuate the turning of night and day, and foster love in the hearts of all." Visit The Mark of Menphina at: The Steel Vigil (x22, y8) via the nearest Aetheryte: Camp Dragonhead, Coerthas Central Highlands Menphina is the goddess of love in all its forms. Some call the moon by her name, and so it's fitting that her symbol depicts the full moon. Those seeking guidance in relationships of all kinds pray to her, and most Keepers of the Moon are devout followers. She is often described as a maid holding a round skillet. Popular Eorzean tales speak of Dalamud as Menphina's loyal hound, ever vigilant in their watch over her. ABOUT THE TWELVE
Thaliak, the Scholar Second Astral Moon | Water "He who is named Thaliak shall preside over the rivers. His duty: to quench the thirst of men, and water their minds with wisdom." The ruler of rivers and god of knowledge was named guardian deity of Sharlayan by a governance system predating the Forum. Unlike Ishgard, however, many Sharlayans choose to worship other deities. An impressive statue of Thaliak watches over the entrance to Scholar's Harbour in Old Sharlayan. This statue depicts the tale in which Nymeia melted a star from which Thaliak could create a river to pour from his ewer. An unfurled scroll is his symbol. Visit The Mark of Thaliak at: Rathefrost (x18.6, y17.7) via the nearest Aetheryte: Revenant's Toll, Mor Dhona Nymeia, the Spinner Second Umbral Moon | Water "She who is named Nymeia shall preside over the stars. Her duty: to preserve the celestial fabric of the seasons, and weave the threads of men's lives." Nymeia the Spinner and goddess of fate is worshiped predominantly by weavers and gamblers. For about eleven years, Nymeia was the patron deity of Ala Mhigo under the rule of Kind Theodoric, until the city state fell to Garlean rule. Under the Empire directives, worship of any and all deities was strictly prohibited. The Spinner was chosen as the face of the 100 gil coin. Unsurprisingly, her chosen symbol is a spinning wheel. Visit The Mark of Nymeia at: Moraby Drydocks (x26.5, y37.1) via the nearest Aetheryte: Moraby Drydocks, Lower La Noscea ABOUT THE TWELVE
ABOUT THE TWELVE Llymlaen, the Navigator Third Astral Moon | Wind "She who is named Llymlaen shall preside over the seas. Her duty: to administer the tides, and inspire men to come together as one and seek new horizons." Visit The Mark of Llymlaen at: Anchor Yard (x7, y14) via the nearest Aetheryte: the Aftcastle, Limsa Lominsa, La Noscea Llymlaen is the patron of Limsa Lominsa. Devout seafarers visit the Mark of the Navigator before they set sail and upon their return home. An old tale speaks of Oschon stepping on the Moraby Flounder, flattening the fish. Llymlaen revived the fish, but could not restore it to its previous, unflattened form. A statue of Llymlaen constructed in Aleport's Aetheryte Plaza depicts her as a mermaid, though she is usually shown as a fisher-woman wielding a harpoon. Her symbol is a wave. Oschon, the Wanderer Third Umbral Moon | Wind "He who is named Oschon shall preside over the mountains. His duty: to sustain the breath of the firmament, and in wandering share in men's solitude." Oschon, ruler of mountains and god of vagrants, is the patron deity of the Miners' guild and the ancient city of Nym. The Nymians built the Wanderer's Palace in veneration of him. Oschon's Torch is a lighthouse constructed in Lower La Noscea, on the shore opposite to another lighthouse, Llymlaen's Ring. The Wanderer is most often depicted as a carefree ranger weilding a yew bow. His symbol is a walking stick. Visit The Mark of Oschon at: Iron Lake (x25.2, y18.3) via the nearest Aetheryte: Camp Overlook, Outer La Noscea
ABOUT THE TWELVE Byregot, the Builder Fourth Astral Moon | Lightning "He who is named Byregot shall preside over construction. His duty: to fortify the works of men, and encourage them to build." Visit The Mark of Byregot at: Camp Tranquill (x15.8, y27.4) via the nearest Aetheryte: Camp Tranquil, South Shroud Byregot is the god of the arts, architecture and industry. Though there is no formal organized religion centered around the Builder in Eorzea, many artisans and crafting professionals offer him prayers to guide them. It's commonly believed that those with crafting skills are blessed by Byregot. His symbol is a hand, and he is most often depicted as a smith wielding a two handed hammer. There is a drilling device located in the Sagolii Desert called Byregot's Strike. Rhalgr, the Destroyer Fourth Umbral Moon | Lightning "He who is named Rhalgr shall preside over destruction. His duty: to galvanize the star's beating heart, and facilitate mankind's regeneration." Visit The Mark of Rhalgr at: Little Ala Mhigo (x19.8, y14.8) via the nearest Aetheryte: Little Ala Mhigo, Southern Thanalan Rhalgr is the guardian deity of Ala Mhigo. There are four known statues of him throughout Gyr Abania, three of which have been damaged or destroyed by the Empire. Scholars have made comparisons to Ramuh, due to their shared affinity with the element of lightning and similar appearances. The Destroyer's symbol is a meteor. He is most often described as a mage wielding a bronze staff.
Nald'thal, the Traders Fifth Umbral Moon | Fire "He who is named Nald'thal shall preside over the subterrane. His duty: to make gleam the riches hidden in the darkest depths—and in men themselves." Visit The Mark of Nald'Thal at: Arrzaneth Ossuary (x7.0, y12.7) via the nearest Aetheryte: the Thaumaturges' Guild, Ul'dah, Thanalan Nald'thal, the overseer of the underworld and god of commerce, is the guardian diety of Ul'dah. The Ul'dahns believe that the Traders are twins known as Nald and Thal, who are worshiped separately. Nald's Reflection and Thal's Respite can be found in The Red Labyrinth and Wellwick Woods, respectively. There are also rumours of a hidden room in the Sil'dih subterrane that house a pair of large statues commemorating the Traders. The symbol of Nald'thal is a shell, an ancient form of currency. ABOUT THE TWELVE Azeyma, the Warden Fifth Astral Moon | Fire "She who is named Azeyma shall preside over the sun. Her duty: to nurture its life-giving light, and illuminate the truth for all to see." Visit The Mark of Azeyma at: the Final Prayer (x24.4, y29.6) via the nearest Aetheryte: Camp Drybone, Eastern Thanalan As keeper of the sun and goddess of inquiry, Azeyma the Warden is most worshiped for her light and warmth. Seekers of the Sun miqo'te tend to be devout followers, as did the fallen Belah'dians. Archaeologists have noted the Warden's mark throughout many Belah'dian ruins across Thanalan, and it's known that the Sunken Temple of Qarn was constructed as a place of worship. Azeyma is portrayed as a noble lady holding a golden fan. Her symbol is the sun.
ABOUT THE TWELVE Althyk, the Keeper Sixth Umbral Moon | Earth "He who is named Althyk shall preside over space and time. His duty: to endow the star with material vigor, that mankind's march may never cease." Though the Keeper Alythyk was first to emerge from the Whorl, little is known about him. He is most often worshiped by those interested in the past and future. His followers tend to be historians. Althyk Lavender is a rare fragrant lavender in the arid lowland regions of Thanalan. Due to its rarity, it's a prized offering at funerals held at the Church of Saint Adama Landama. Althyk is most often depicted as armoured, wielding a mythril great axe. His symbol is an hourglass. Visit The Mark of Althyk mark at: Amdapor Keep (x23.7, y25.1) via the nearest Aetheryte: Quarrymill, South Shroud Nophica, the Matron Sixth Astral Moon | Earth "She who is named Nophica shall preside over fertility. Visit The Mark of Nophica at: Nophica's Altar (x7.8,y11.0) via the nearest Aetheryte: the Conjurers' Guild, Gridania, Black Shroud The Matron, goddess of abundance, is the patron deity of Gridania. It's said that Nophica was the one to bring life into the world out of loneliness by planting a seed. It's from this seed that the World Tree sprouted, its growth quickened by Althyk. She is known to be the bitter rival of Halone, due to the Fury's ruthless slaying of her creations. The Matron is portrayed as a farmer wielding a steel scythe. Her symbol is a spring leaf.
ALTH Y K THE KEEPER NYMEIA THE S PINNER RHALGR THE DESTROYER LLYMLAEN THE NAVIGAT OR NOPHICA THE MATRON NALD THE TRADER THAL THE TRADER TWINS HALONE THE FURY BYREGOT THE BUILDER OSCHON THE WANDERER THALIAK THE SCHOLAR AZEYMA THE WARDEN MENPHINA THE LOVER THE WHORL ABOUT THE TWELVE THE EORZEAN CREATION MYTH As spoken by Lewphon of Sharlayan "In the beginning there was neither light nor darkness. Only the Whorl. And it was not until Althyk emerged thence in his nakedness, did time take its first step forward. With Him, the Keeper also carried weight, and with weight were the realms of land and firmament defined. Yet Althyk would not be alone overlong, for soon from the Whorl did another step forth. Her name was Nymeia, and She was but a mewling babe who could do naught but weep, and soon Her tears had created a vast lake. Althyk, seeking companionship in the empty realm of His creation, took the younger goddess under His wing and cared for Her as one would a daughter. As Nymeia grew, however, so too, did their love for one another, until it could no longer be contained, culminating in a divine coupling which resulted in the birth of two holy daughters - Azeyma, the sun, and Menphina, the moon - and with their advent, was day and night conceived." "So did countless cycles of light and darkness pass before from the Whorl, once again, did another step forth. Thaliak, bearer of wisdom and knowledge, looked upon the silent and unchanging lake left by Nymeia's tears and coaxed from it a river to carry that water to the far corners of the realm. Azyema, drawn to Thaliak's sagacity, professed Her love to the new deity and begot Him two daughters-the first being Llymlaen, who took the water created by her grandmother and expanded it into the world's seas. The second daughter was lonely Nophica, who wanting for companionship, created Her own playmates, and thus brought life into the world." "It was not until life had spread throughout the land and newly created seas that a new god appeared, though whence the others did not know, for the Whorl lay dormant. His name was Oschon, and where He wandered did towering mountains rise from level plains. With the formation of these spires did cold wind flow from on high down to the warm seas and back up again, carrying life that was once reserved for land and water into the skies. Those winds did bring love into the heart of Llymlaen, yet though she longed to be with Oschon, His wanderlust prevented the two from ever being joined overlong, and lo did they never beget children of their own."
"This was a time of great creation, but great chaos. Oschon's mountains rose and fell at His whims, Thaliak's rivers flowed hither and thither, and Llymlaen's seas ever expanded, swallowing entire swathes of land before the gods even knew they were gone. To bring order to this chaos, Nymeia pried forth a mighty comet from the heavens and gave it life, directing it down into the world that it may destroy the excess Her sons and daughters had wrought, while bringing harmony once again to the realm. And for many days and nights was the world calm, the gods content in the order which now reigned supreme. That is until the Whorl woke from its slumber and beckoned forth two final deities - Byregot and His younger sister Halone. It was feared that the untamed and ambitious siblings might once again usher chaos unto the world, so to see that they were properly disciplined, Nymeia quickly made them wards of Rhalgr, the Destroyer. ABOUT THE TWELVE "A builder by nature, Byregot resented His new stepfather who could teach him only of destruction, choosing instead to spend most of His time in the tutelage of Thaliak. The Scholar bestowed upon His eager student the knowledge He would use to forge the tools and techniques of creation. Though more open to Her new father's teachings, Halone too, grew restless, longing to test Her strength. An opportunity arose when Oschon invited the young goddess on one of His journeys. It was during these travels that Halone's ambition slowly transformed into a lust for battle. Whilst on the road, she would challenge every creature She met, honing Her skills and methodically devising new techniques for killing. When Nophica, mother of life, learned of Halone's wanton destruction of Her creations, she was angered beyond words and swore revenge, but the Fury ignored the Matron's challenges, widening the rift between the two. Oschon, feeling responsible for this rift, devised a plan to calm Nophica." "From within the mountains of His creation, Oschon summoned a fount of magma which spewed forth onto the land. Upon cooling, the magma took form of the Twelfth and final god-the dual aspected Nald'thal. With Nald'thal, Oschon had provided a god to oversee the souls of those who met their deaths and provide them with peace in the afterlife. Satisfied that Her creations would no longer wander the void aimlessly, Nophica agreed to a truce with Halone. And with the advent of the Twelfth and final god was the pantheon complete." "Before they could call an end to Their toil, They first required a realm in which They could reside and watch over Their myriad creation. To this end, they created the Seven Heavens, and to there did They finally retreat, bequeathing rule of Eorzea to mankind." Rhalgr's Reach Saint Reymanaud's cathedral Sanctum of the Twelve painting
