WE LC OME T O ISS U E E I G HT Tea Drinkingway Tea Drinkingway Welcome to issue eight, our first issue for 2024. I’m excited to mention that the next expansion, titled Dawntrail, is set to be released later this year. While the specific release date is yet to be confirmed, we can look forward to the introduction of the Pictomancer and Viper classes, female Hrothgar, and an increased level cap to 100. In addition to our event highlights, there is also a special segment in this issue: a Dawntrail inspired outfit look book curated by our very own FC members. Happy reading!
In the spirited arena of the annual Christmas PvP tournament, Dera emerged victorious for the second consecutive year, showcasing his unparalleled skill and festive fervor. Formidable contenders Barbuto and Thane secured the second-place and the third-place positions respectively. The competition was a dazzling spectacle, with Dera's back-toback triumphs solidifying his status as the reigning champion.
With Valentione's coming right around the corner, Kasumi thought, "how can I bring happiness to all people of Eorzea? Most especially to those who work tirelessly and may not get major Mogmail holidays off?" And then it struck them! Blind dates universally bring joy, yes? To help celebrate Kasumi's birthday, friends and contestants participated in a photo safari-style scavenger hunt for Eorzea's most lovable and underappreciated NPC's in 12 locations from ARR & HW locations. Our happy snappers took a photo with the featured NPCs, racing to get a photo with each NPC before anyone else! SPREAD THE LOVE
01 02 Midi and Nicia kept watch over Gridania's main square on their date. Her rating: 10/10 eloquent for a chicken. Tea brought her sparring spirit to her date with the Bartholomew Twins. Who do you think won the bout? 03 Poor Lys's date never showed. Our sources say that he had been there prior, but when Ms. Chant arrived they were no where in sight.

Welcome back to Crusher’s Corner! CR U SHE R ’S C O R N E R Now, I can’t help but notice that none of your fawning marriage proposals have come in the mail yet. I’m going to assume the Delivery Moogles got stuck on the way, weighed down by the mountainous riches you’re likely including in your gift parcels, to tide me over into your arms. Fine, then! I’m happy to wait for true love, and the millions of gil that presumably come with it. In the meantime, I should talk about some of the people I met along the way in my travels, before I start bitching about how they’ve done nothing but fail me at every turn. The world of Eorzea is full of people with bountiful personalities, so charming that they often stun me into silence! Mind you, these people never stop talking. So often I can’t get a single word in edgewise - it feels like my lips have been sewn together, and all I can do is nod gruffly when they finally give me a chance to respond! Where I’m from, conversation doesn’t need to be long; it just needs to be loud. A R EVI EW O F THE F R E E T R IAL PAR T TWO : THE SCI O N S
I get the feeling Papalymo’s of a similar disposition to me. He’s not around all the time, but when he is, he’s usually complaining - which I’d be annoyed at if he wasn’t completely right half the time. Most of the errands he’s doing are annoying - and I know this because the damn Scions rope me into them! The guy definitely needs a massage, but I like his funky little outfit. Both the Lalafell in the Scions are fun to be around. Tataru mostly takes notes, but she’s got a go-getter attitude. I get to pat her on the head whenever I walk into the Waking Sands. Sometimes I accidentally knock her off her chair, and she does this cute little flail of her arms as she falls. It’s funny! Though I probably owe her some combat lessons as an apology, if she’s ever up for them. Now, one person I’d pay to beat the snot out of is Thancred. The guy thinks he’s some smoothtalking charmer, but he comes off as more of a creep to me. A creep who keeps to himself more than he shares, too! If he’d been more of a team player, maybe he wouldn’t have got himself possessed by-- ah, I’m getting ahead of myself. It’s why I like Yda, who is clearly the loudest of the Scions. There’s an energy to her that makes me want to explore the whole world twice over, and fight every enemy that lurks in the little corners of the land. If she were around the whole time, I’d feel a whole lot less bothered with carrying some chocobo foot to a hermit on the other side of a forest, all for a wine merchant who could have walked the distance in the time it took him to monologue.
Alphinaud’s a mixed bag, if only because the kid’s too young for me to punt into the river without me feeling a little bad. Recent events have softened me a lot on the guy, but my first impressions of him were not good. I think, as a rule, if you’re trying to start a private militia the moment your voice drops, you need to reevaluate your priorities. After we moved to Ishgard though, he’s been a lot more reliable to have by my side; and I’m sure he’s made me smile at least once by now! Probably. Y'shtola never has trouble making me smile, if only because I know I’m finally talking to someone sensible around here. Did you know she’s the only friend I have around here who stood up to all these damn morons using me as a delivery service? We’re trying to save the world here, you know! I come to Y'shtola when I need someone to lower my blood pressure, or when I want to admire her little ears. I don’t really understand what Urianger is saying. Then there’s Minfilia. She’s got a lot on her plate, having to deal with all of us and the politics of the states. She handles it wellenough, even if you can tell she’d maybe rather be out there in battle with us. Makes me sad, seeing someone so capable trapped behind a desk. If she’s still out there, I’ll see if I can convince her to spar with me once in a while.
But most importantly of all, there’s Tea Drinkingway. Once I stopped laughing at her stupid name and started listening to her, she became the greatest friend I could ask for in Eorzea. Now, she manages a lot - who has time to drive me around the place while also managing an entire Free Company! If I had a place as sweet as the one in the Lavender Beds, I wouldn’t want people running around and clipping through the walls. A lot of people owe a lot to Tea, so I hope you all do your part in thanking her when you’re not sending me love letters. I could swear she looks different, though… I don’t love most of the people here, but I’m quite fond of them all the same. I’m beginning to lose them - I don’t know where all of them are, or if they’re okay. There’s a part of my heart that feels a little hollower as I reach for them, only to grasp at nothing but a memory. Tea’s fine, though. We’re going out for brunch after I kill this giant robot I just found.
