1. INTRODUCTION
The report has been written as a requirement to complete a mini project for course
Fundamental Of Energy Efficiency and Conservation Circuits DEQ30052. This report was
requested by Madam Maizairisam Bt Ameruddin, lecturer of Fundamental Of Energy
Efficiency and Conservation Circuits DEQ30052. The objectives of this mini project are to
investigate energy efficiency and conservation potential residential and non-residential in
building according to best practices and demonstrate sustainable awareness of energy
efficiency and conservation through project activities. There are total of 3 tasks assigned to
the students to work in a group of 3 – 4 students. The first task is to investigate an energy
efficiency and conservation potential residential and non-residential in building to best
practices. The task required students to use their house or rent house electricity bill and find
energy consumption in kwh, energy consumption in RM (use current tariff), and
recommendation ways to reduce energy consumption. Next task is, to create a Proposal
about an awareness campaign among Polytechnic’s staff collaborating with MALACOF
company about Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) by following the format given in
the instructions. The last task given to the student is to create a slide presentation about
Fundamental Of Energy Efficiency and Conservation Circuits and presenting it in front
Madam Maszairisam Bt Ameruddin. The presentation slide’s contents are followed
according to the instructions given by the lecturer and has a total of 7 content.
2. HOUSE BILL INVESTIGATION
2.1. Energy consumption in kWh:
2.1.1. The number of energy consumption is picked from one of our groupmate
houses bills.
2.1.2. (200 + 100 + 251) kWh = 551kWh
2.2. Energy consumption in RM using Tariff A (Domestic Tariff):
2.2.1. Latest current rate of Domestic Tariff by TNB
2.2.2. Energy consumption calculation CALCULATION TOTAL
SUBJECTS 200 x 0.218 RM43.60
First 200 kWh @ 21.80 cents/kWh
Next 100 kWh @ 33.40 cents/kWh 100 x 0.334 RM33.40
Next 300 kWh @ 51.60 cents/kWh
251 x 0.516 RM129.52
TOTAL AMOUNT RM206.52
2.3. Recommendation ways to reduce energy consumption:
2.3.1. There is a lot of ways to reduce the energy consumption including:
o Turn your lights off when you’re not using them or when you leave a
room.
o Avoid using a tumble dryer for your clothes. Put your dry clothes on racks
inside where possible or outside in warmer weather
o Make sure your appliances are energy efficient
o Install LED lights because LED lights are very energy efficient and long
lasting.
3. CAMPAIGN PROPOSAL
3.1. Introduction:
3.1.1. Electricity saving measures are a very good thing for survival life of the next
generation. This is because electricity generation is based on oil, coal and
hydropower that are not renewable if the resource is in short supply. Hence, an
awareness campaign should be done among Polytechnic Sultan Idris Shah’s staff,
which include three main components including knowledge, views, and actions.
Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) is one of alternate ways for awareness of
energy efficiency. Polytechnic Sultan Idris Shah’s staff should be equipped with
as much knowledge as possible to create the best lecturer who can be a role model
to the PSIS students. EPC is a mechanism that uses market-based capital and
technology to improve energy efficiency in buildings, industry, and other areas.
There is large room for development in Energy Performance Contracting (EPC)
market in Malaysia. Therefore, this awareness campaign is implemented as an
initial step for PSIS staff in recognizing energy efficiency and energy
conservation. It is intended that this campaign would educate participants about
energy conservation, a topic that has received little attention in recent years,
whether it be from PSIS staff, lecturers, or students themselves. It is also hope that
the knowledge gained from the campaign can be applied and shared with others.

3.7. Conclusion:
Indeed, we only plan, but the plan of Allah S.W.T is better and overcomes all the plans
of His servants. It is hoped that the activities of this Awareness Campaign can be
successfully implemented and achieve the desired objectives. It is hoped that activities
such as this will continue to grow and receive good response from all parties for the
sake of awareness of energy efficiency and energy conservation. May these noble
endeavors receive support from all parties and benefit the people of Polytechnic Sultan
Idris Shah in particular including lecturer, staff, & students. Finally, we reserve the
highest appreciation to all parties involved whether directly or indirectly in
implementing this program.
4. CONCLUSION
What this mini project’s study reveals is that we have learnt to investigate an energy
efficiency and conservation potential residential and non-residential in buildings according
to best practices. We use one of our groupmate’s house electricity bills as a reference and
do an energy audit process to find energy consumption in kWh and in RM. Afterwards, we
able to find some recommendation ways to reduce energy consumption in his house as we
investigate the electricity equipment use in the house and the usage of each equipment per
day. Next, we have learnt to demonstrate sustainable awareness of energy efficiency and
conservation through project activities by creating a proposal for awareness campaign
program. As we create the proposal, we have learnt about MALACOF company a bit as we
are investigating it to gain information about the company for the proposal. We are also
able to gain experience on how to create a proposal as we can use it in real life for the
upcoming time. Furthermore, we are able to learn a various amount of information about
Fundamental Energy Efficiency and Conservation Circuits including about NEEAP,
important of EE & EC, factor affecting electricity bill, impact of MD, MS ISO 50001, and
Green Building Index as we are creating a presentation slide about those information. Last
but not least, we hope that what we've learnt from working on this mini-project can be
applied in the real world and continue to spread throughout the entire world in order to raise
awareness of energy conservation and efficiency.
