WELCOMING REMARKS

Hello to one and all. On behalf of the Petaling Utama District
Education Officer, a warm welcome!

To the respected School principals of Assunta Secondary School,
the Petaling Jaya Form Six College and Sasayama Homei High School,
who are present with your teachers and pupils, Congratulations on
this great initiative. It is a proud moment for us to witness the
schools in our district reaching out internationally to the land of
the rising sun, where a wonderful afternoon of intercultural and
educational exchange has been meticulously planned.

It is hoped that the Cultural and Education Alliance Program and
creative activities such as today’s event will further strengthen
the mastery of English communication among local and international
students.

Once again, kudos to the Assunta Secondary School English
Language Committee as the host of this cultural and educational
programme, and its collaboration with the Petaling Jaya Form Six
College in this outreach with Sasayama Homei High School . All the
best!

WELCOMING REMARKS

A very good afternoon.

To our distinguished guests,
Petaling Utama District Education Officers, School principals of

Malaysia and Japan, respected colleagues, pupils from both
countries, ladies and gentlemen! I bid you all a warm welcome, or
as we say in Malay, ‘Selamat Datang’!

A note of gratitude goes out to the District Education Officers
who have joined us today, providing us immeasurable support and
guidance.

To the Principal, teachers and pupils of Sasayama Homei High
School. Allow me to express my heart-felt appreciation at the great
honour we Assuntarians have today. Thank you for joining us in this
online exchange program today, one that I am sure will bring forth
many new friendships and interesting areas of knowledge.

To the Principal, teachers and pupils of the Petaling Jaya Form
6 College, ‘Selamat Datang’! We are happy to be working with you
all on this wonderful day. Let us have fun and enjoy this exciting
new experience, where the older Form 6 sisters and brothers can
also share their knowledge with our younger pupils.
Ladies and gentlemen,

Today marks a creative partnership of exchanging knowledge
despite the thousands of miles between us. We hope this will be the
first in many more exchange programs to come. For the future, it is
my hope that organising programs such as today’s will enhance
mutual understanding among us, and encourage further co-operation
among the participating schools. Thank you.

CLOSING SPEECH

As the old saying goes, “All good things must come to an end”. It is indeed
my pleasure to make a few closing remarks and express gratitude to all those
who made this program a reality. I am very grateful that Petaling Jaya Form Six
College had the opportunity to collaborate with Assunta Secondary School in
Petaling Jaya and Sasayama Homei Secondary School in Japan. In fact, as has
been said earlier today, this is the first time we have joined forces with
Assunta Secondary School and Sasyama Homei Secondary School in participating
such an event. This is going to foster better ties between local and global
learning institutions through cultural understanding and exchange of
information. Pupils become confident speakers and get the opportunity to
communicate with other continents bravely This will pave way to a better
understanding of Malay, Chinese, Indian and Japanese culture as well as display
respect and trust on one another.

I personally enjoyed the video presentations and slide shows of the cultures
and am pretty sure it has been a wonderful learning experience between all the
schools involved today. The Q and A session has given a deeper comprehension of
cultures and platform to interact confidently in the English language.

As we come to the end of this fruitful program between Assunta Secondary
School, Petaling Jaya Form Six College and Sasayama Homei Secondary School, I
would like to close this day by thanking Pn.Noorin binti Zakaria, Petaling
Utama Deputy District Education Officer, Pn.Hilwana binti Ahmad Shaari, School
Improvement Specialist Coach from the Petaling Utama District Education Office,
Ms Geraldine Raj, School Improvement Specialist Coach from the Petaling Utama
District Education Office, Mr.Higuchi, Principal of Sasayama Homei Secondary
School, Pn.Mageswari Subramaniam, Principal of Assunta Secondary School,
Pn.Sunita Sharma, Co-ordinator of this Cultural Exchange program, The Star
Press and each and everyone of you for your immense interest and participation
in paving way for a better cultural exchange experience between Malaysia and
Japan.
Thank you
Arigato Gozaimas, Sayonara.

Hajah Ros binti Lizan
The Principal of Petaling Jaya Form Six College

Thank You.
