Religion of Ancient Egypt Booklet Assignment

Prior to this assign-
ment, I don’t really
know much about An-
cient Egypt and their
religion. All I knew was
very limited to what
my Form 5 history
textbook has taught
me, and it is definitely
not as in depth as the
research I have done
for this assignment.
This is definitely an
eye-opening experi-
ence for me as I get to
dive into their religion,
culture and their life-
style during that peri-
od. Besides that, I’ve also learned that the Egyptian religion
was polytheistic, as they worshipped many different gods
such as Ra, Amun, Horus, Hathor and many more.
Furthermore, I find the process of mummification very inter-
esting and was very impressed that the Egyptians managed
to master the skill of preserving bodies, which at that time
there weren’t any advanced technologies. The rituals per-
formed during the preservation of the soul and body during
mummification has definitely highlighted how much care and
detail they put into it and showed me how important it is to
them in order for the dead to continue their journey smoothly
in the afterlife. Overall, this has been a very fun and interest-
ing journey for me as I get to know more about their religion
and beliefs.

During this entire as-
signment, I learnt var-
ious information re-
garding the Religion of
Ancient Egypt, rang-
ing from the numerous
gods and goddesses
to the many concepts
of buildings. Although I
learnt about the religion
in general, I learnt more
of the god Anubis and
also symbols of the re-
ligion. Many of the sym-
bols are representations
of figures and many
symbols carry various
purposes such as giving
protection from evil, envy and negative emotions, whereas
others promote stability and also represent death.
In the long run, learning of the religion really piqued my inter-
est and the Religion of Ancient Egypt is a really in depth and
interesting thing to discuss about. Although, it is occasionally
confusing but with enough research, the stories and mythol-
ogies are entertaining.
