Identifikasi merupakan menempatkan atau menaruh bukti diri suatu individu melalui mekanisme
deduktif ke pada suatu takson menggunakan memakai kunci determinasi. Ikan dibedakan menurut
karakter-karakter generik yang bisa membedakan antara gerombolan yang satu menggunakan
gerombolan yang lain. Adapun karakter-karakter yang biasa dipakai pada identifikasi ikan antara
lain, yaitu: bentuk generik tubuh, bentuk dan jumlah sirip, bentuk mulut, bentuk ekor, dan
perbandingan dan posisi anggota tubuh (Adrim, 2010).
Klasifikasi adalah memutuskan definisi berdasarkan gerombolan atau kategori dari skala hierarki.
Pengenalan struktur ikan ini terlepas berdasarkan morfologi ikan yaitu bentuk luar ikan yang
adalah karakteristik-karakteristik yang gampang dicermati dan diingat pada mengusut jenis-jenis
ikan. Morfologi ikan sangat berhubungan dengan tempat asal ikan tadi pada perairan.

K_Nearest Neighbor (KNN)
Algoritma K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) adalah sebuah metode
untuk melakukan klasifikasi terhadap obyek berdasarkan data
pembelajaran yang jaraknya paling dekat dengan obyek tersebut.
Prinsip kerja dari K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) adalah mencari
jarak terdekat antara data yang akan dievaluasi dengan K tetangga
(neighbor) terdekatnya dalam data pelatihan.
Prosedur Kerja Metode KNN
Berdasarkan prosedur kerja metode KNN (K-Nearest Neighbor), sampel citra ikan
yang asli digunakan pertama kali. Kemudian citra ikan diberi efek greyscale untuk
mengubah warna citra menjadi abu-abu dimana hal tersebut berfungsi untuk
menyederhanakan model gambar. Lalu citra gambar yang sudah diberi efek greyscale
dimasukkan dalam tahap pembentukan Co-ocourance yang melalui proses
perhitungan statis

Hasil
Dari hasil proses tersebut maka dapat dibedakan antara ikan yang segar dan
ikan yang telah diberi formalin melalui system prosedur yang telah
dilakukan. Perbedaan ikan segar dengan ikan berformalin dapat dibedakan
dari tekstur ikan. Ikan yang tanpa formailin dapat dilihat dari mata ikan
terlihat jernih dan segar serta bentuk badan ikan yang terlihat lebih segar dan
tidak kaku. Sedangkan pada ikan berformalin warna mata ikan akan terlhat
seperti kemerahan, serta tekstur badannya lebih kaku dan tegang.
