De La Salle Holy Cross College - The Pool Journey

Whether we are six years old, like our Hedgehogs and
Squirrels in Grade RR, or ninety six, we all enjoy a good
story!

The “pool” has been a never-ending story at the College for as long
as we can all remember!

In January 2018, we launched #TheShift, describing many
proposed changes at the College. The loudest cheer of the evening
was when we spoke about the possibility of our own pool.

Our dream became a reality after a visit to the College by Gavan
and Brendan Ryan in 2017. The Ryan family has a long history
with the College and their father - then headmaster of Northcliff
Primary School - had worked very closely with Brother Alpheus in
1959 when he was founding the fledging De La Salle College.

Fifty five years after he matriculated from the College in 1964,
Gavan made our “Gavan Ryan Aquatic Centre” possible.

Our never-ending story was complete and what a happy ending it
is!
