Leaving Cert Geography Students went to the beach this week.
Fieldwork is an essential part of Leaving Cert Geography,
representing 20% of the marks.

Mr Halbert’s Ag Science class carrying out field trials on school grounds on fertiliser use.This will run
for the next 8 months.They will measure grass height and are establish soil texture in the laboratory.
St Colman’s CC Student Council had a meeting today where they
were updated on The Spirit of St Colman’s Hidden Hero initiative
which will get underway after mid term. This wonderful initiative
recognises the many co-operative, respectful, hardworking,
thoughtful, optimistic, mannerly and caring students in our
community.

Coffee tables. The students laminated the table
top using pine and mahogany and have a clever
secret storage space underneath. Well done
to all the LCA on doing a fantastic job on their

The St Colman’s U15 Gaelic Football team played their first match today against
Blarney in tough conditions. Great effort by everyone and for many of the lads it
was their first time playing for St Colman’s. Well done everyone, it’s great to see
our teams back in action.
The U.16.5 hurlers began their season
today with a challenge game against
Gael Colaiste Mhuire A.G. The team put
in a great preformance against a side
that is two grades above them. Well
done lads.
The final score was St.Colmans 5-18 to
Gael Colaiste Mhuire A.G 7-16.
Focus now turns to next Wednesday
where they will be taking on Cobh
in the first round of the Munster
championships.

Our young Environmentalists installed diffusion tubes to measure
nitrogen dioxide levels associated with traffic related air pollution
on school campus & #Midleton, part of #CitizenScience #AirQuality
project.

St. Colman’s first Amber Flag event for the current academic year will occur next Thurs 21st of October.
Rainbow day will be an opportunity to demonstrate support and solidarity with LGBTQ+ members of
our greater school community. Students and staff are encouraged to paint one or more fingernails a
colour of the rainbow as a visual display of inclusivity and support of all.
Student nail technicians will be available in both canteens at small break and the start of big break;
otherwise just bring your own.
Well done to the U16.5 Boys Hurling Squad who had a great win in Round 1of the Munster PPS Championship 10-15 to
2-6 win versus Carrignafoy Community School, Cobh on Wednesday 13th October. The lads put in a brilliant performance
and look forward to the next round of the competition the week after the midterm break.

Stella Gill, has been selected for Francis O’Sullivan’s U14 South
Academy Team and Luke Bamber has been selected for
Pa Curran’s U14 South Academy Team
Well done on such a huge achievement.
We are delighted to be shortlisted in the #OceanHero Awards this
year. Fingers & toes crossed.
The St Colmans Hurlers had a very competitive match against the
North Mon AG. This was a significant milestone as it was the first
match back on our school pitch since the redevelopment.

The Junior ladies Footballers played Gaelcolaiste Carrigaline in their
second group game. Well done to all the girls for a hard working
performance against a strong team. Training for ladies football takes
place every Thursday after school.
Taylor Heffernan brought in his 2 silver medals from
the European Kickboxing WAKO Championships which
he won in Montenegro, It was unfortunte that he did
carrying an injury into the final otherwise who knows he
might have got the gold.

showed great teamwork and sportsmanship from start to finish with some
super scores, turnovers and excellent defending throughout the game.

Our Under 16 boys hurling team who played Coláiste an Chraoibhín, Fermoy
last Tuesday in our own school pitch. The lads put in a brilliant effort right until
the final whistle where a late goal cost us. The lads are showing signs of great
progress from all the training. Keep it up everyone!
Well done to the Ladies Senior Football team who picked up their first win of
