Blue Alley in The Medina

As I continue to explore the Medina of Tunis I continue to observe this
repeating pattern the blue colours were usually used in their windows grill and
doors. but the elements can be found also outside of the Medina and they have
become the identities of the buildings there.

Blue Door Wonders

Here is the sketch I made after I noticed this magnificent design and facade of
the door. I thought to myself if I was a tourist maybe I would like to spend my
whole visit in this Medina just to find all of these magnificent doors to be a part
of my travel journal photo collection.

Gateway to Medina

I notice when I doing my research about this place Bab El Bhar can be
considered as a landmark for this Medina of Tunis. Because of all the photos that
I see everyone will take their time to take a picture with this amazing
architectural structure. I think it is because of the history that this gate has and
also it is considered the oldest standing wall in Tunis as compared to others Bab
that have been demolished.

Calm, White and Serene

The Sidi Mahrez mosque is a beautiful looking mosque with the architectural
facade of the mosque is at its simplicity. It was like love at first sight when I first
look at the picture of the mosque. How I wish I can go there to see this mosque
with my very own eyes. The sketches portray how the mosque will be looking
at night as it resembles the moon with the white facade covering the mosque as
it resembles the moon at night. The same goes for other buildings that have a
white facade.

Embracing the Door

The unique style of the door design can be considered as one of the attractions
in the Medina of Tunis as the door comes in either yellow or blue in colour. I'm
sorry if I emphasizing the door again as I really love the looks of the beautifully
made door in Tunis. The visitor or tourist also most of them will take their
picture in front of these doors as a memory for them during their holiday to the
Medina. The door that I sketch is the yellow door with amazing details crafted
on the door panels. Someday after this pandemic has ended, I am planning to
visit one of the doors to add to my photo collections.

Chechia and the Souk

The medina is a network of narrow alleyways, mosques, mausoleums, palaces
and a souq where shoppers haggle over the price of everything from filigreed
gold to inexpensive souvenirs. The chechia is a headpiece made of wool and can
be considered the traditional wear for the male in Medina. I am looking forward
to buying some souvenirs and also the chechia as part of my gifts from Tunisia
to be taken home.

Government Palace

The government palace is an old palace in the medina of Tunis, more precisely
in the city's Kasbah. Nowadays, it serves as the office of the Head of
Government of Tunisia but was used by guests of the State previously. It is
located south of Government Square, west of Kasbah Square. Beside the palace is
a wonderful marble park with some trees and a fountain that creates this
wonderful and calm environment next to the palace.

Intrinsic Lamp Motives

The lamp post in Tunisia is very unique as the cast iron post can be found all
around Medina. the unique motives and design create this ancient and classic
environment in the square and all around Medina. Although, I am very
fascinated by the lamp post and that's why I include it in my drawings to show
to other people the design and also how beautiful it is when it is shining during
the night.

The Traditional Clothing

Traditional clothing for women varies slightly depending on the region, but a
dress known in the area as a 'kaftan' is one of the more popular options, with
ceremonial costumes featuring embroidery, gems and other precious metals.
Tunisian embroidery is famous for its creativity, with vibrantly coloured threads
used in such a creative manner that pieces of clothing are often shown at
exhibitions around the world.
