highlights of Community Impact Days and suggestions for the implementation of these days
at the chapter level. The listing of dates for the upcoming 7 impact days are:

1. August 25, 2019 - AKA International Day of Prayer Observance
2. September 16, 2019 – AKA HBCU Day Observance
3. October 7, 2019 – Breast Cancer Awareness Day

AKA HBCU Day/Month (9/16/19)
Sorors...we did it again! We raised $1 million in 24 hours for a second consecutive year during HBCU Impact
Day. As part of our four-year $10 million fundraising goal, Madam Supreme is leading the challenge for
contributions that can help to secure fiscal sustainability and success across HBCUs. “Once again this is a
historic moment for Alpha Kappa Alpha, as we have raised $1 million for HBCUs for the second year in a row,”
Glover shared with excitement in a video message to sorors. “I want to thank everyone who contributed to
this $1 million, one-day campaign. Let’s continue to support our HBCUs.”

Executing Your Fall MIPs with Excellence!

Requests for Authorization to Conduct Membership Intake Process Now Being Accepted!

Greetings Sorors:

We had a record setting number of MIPs this Spring and are looking for that to be the
continuing trend for the Fall. By now, your chapter should have received the Spring/Summer
mailing from the corporate office which included the updated MIP Manuals dated April
2019. The manuals are also available for purchase via the online store in the members only
section of the website.

MIP requests are being accepted now—everything must be typed and should be emailed to the following
addresses:
Graduate: [email protected]; [email protected] and [email protected]
Undergraduate: [email protected]; [email protected] and [email protected]

Please do not send MIP materials via us mail, overnight or fax as that will delay processing and response to your request.

To that end, I’d like to share the following informational tips to help you with Executing Your MIP with Excellence:

 Forms, Forms and more Forms. Only forms in the most recent version of the MIP manual (April 2019) will be
accepted. All forms are available on the corporate website. All Forms are fillable and must be typed. Forms
should be downloaded first and then completed in order to save the information in the form. Handwritten
forms will not be accepted. Please double check and ensure that any forms you use have the April 2019 date at
the bottom of them.

 Review all completed documents for accuracy. Be flexible and work with candidates to make corrections before
sending paperwork to the corporate office.

 Changes to your originally approved MIP request should be emailed to the addresses above for review and
consideration by the Regional Director.

 Voting: Results of voting sessions should be communicated to the regional representative at the conclusion of
the voting session. Do not send candidate materials to corporate office until voting results have been
confirmed.

 Final Initiation Weekend: Candidates are to be in all white attire beginning with the Worship Service and remain
in white until the conclusion of the MIP Luncheon.

 MIP Evaluation Summary Form: Chapters should be sure to submit the MIP Evaluation Summary Form via email
to the Regional Representative at the conclusion of the chapter’s MIP process.

GRADUATE MIPs

 Information on the language to be included in Chapter Bylaws relative to the Graduate Membership Intake
Process can be found in Section VII, Appendix I on page VII-12 of the Graduate MIP Manual.

 Response Times: The Graduate MIP Checklist with Timeline in the manual has been updated to help simplify
tasks required throughout the Membership Intake Process. Please review the Checklist with Timeline very
diligently to better understand the MIP process and turnaround times. Due to the anticipated increase in the
number of MIPs that will be conducted this fall, response times may be extended. Please contact the regional
MIP team with any questions concerning delays in response times.

 Transcripts are to be sent directly to the membership chairman prior to the Information Session.

 No line names or line numbers are permitted in the graduate process. MIP Luncheon programs should not
contain any references to line names.

UNDERGRADUATE MIPs:
 MIPs Annually—If there was no MIP held from August 1, 2018—Present, then the chapter must conduct MIP

this fall. Any exceptions must be approved by the Regional Director.

 Individuals should not be turned away from the Rush under any circumstances.

 Official transcripts are to be brought to the Rush by the candidates, no mailing to the Graduate Advisor.

 Campus presentations are required unless prohibited by the school and should occur the day of or the
following day after initiation. The practice times for the campus presentation have been changed, see
Schedule of Activities in the MIP manual for new times.

 Voting—Do not send packages to corporate office until approval of voting tally has been received from the
Regional Director. It may take more than 48 hours. Justifications for No Votes are required; Graduate Advisors
should assist undergraduate sorors on how to handle.

Membership Intake represents one of the sorority’s greatest risks and as such there is zero tolerance for
hazing or behaviors that are questionable and disrupt the process. Any suspected violations are to be
reported to the Regional Director immediately!!

Sorors, I am looking forward to working with you as we continue to execute MIPs with Excellence. As your
Regional MIP Chairman, please know that I appreciate everything you do to help us grow our sisterhood and stand
ready to assist you. Should you have any questions, please do not feel free to contact me via email or text/call at
443-604-4739.
