College and Career Readiness (CCR) is the Contra Costa County Office of

Education's program focused on preparing students for post-secondary

college and career opportunities. As part of this initiative, CCCOE's CCR

program operates the Contra Costa County Regional Occupational Program

(CCC ROP). CCC ROP has provided Career Technical Education (CTE) for over

Serves nearly 7,000 students at 22 high schools in Contra Costa and

Alameda counties
Career guidance includes earning industry certification and industry

More than 220,000 students have completed ROP training in the past 49

Organizations (CTSOs). CTSOs provide students with the opportunity to develop

leadership skills and to contextualize the academic instruction from their CTE

MEDICAL ASSISTANT

PROGRAM 24.5%

This 18-week course prepares students for

entry level positions as a clinical medical

assistant in doctor's offices, clinics, or HMOs.

Instruction includes medical terminology,

anatomy and physiology, injections,

phlebotomy, vital signs, basic lab procedures,

and charting. Externships are served at local

medical facilities.

Prerequisites: Must be 18 years of age with

high school diploma or GED. Must have one

year of administrative experience or

complete an Administrative Medical Assistant

class. Current TB test and physical required

prior to starting internship.

On May 10, students, families, teachers and community members came together to honor

students who have excelled in their CCC ROP courses. Teachers had the opportunity to


nominate one student from each ROP course for this annual award. Students of Excellence

demonstrate excellence in both their CTE curriculum and work-ready skills. These young


men and women were recognized for their accomplishments and received a $300
