Well, that coveted time has finally arrived. Together we have become podiatric physicians - the medical profession's
specialist in foot and ankle care. As a class, we have achieved academic excellence and as individuals we have succeeded
at earning the right to be called clinicians. Thus, we must remember to always be proud of ourselves by virtue of the mere
fact that we possess knowledge of the foot and ankle that far exceeds anyone and everyone in medicine today. It was St.
Francis De Sales who said, "Do not wish to be anything but what you are and try to be that perfectly."

While gaining this medical and clinical education, we have also developed other attributes to our qualifications besides
excellence and knowledge. Believe it or not, we have matured. With maturity, comes patience, perseverance, dependabil-
ity, the capacity to face difficulties, the ability to solve problems and above all, the beginning of a little bit of wisdom. Un-

fortunately, the rest of the wisdom comes with experience. .

Additionally, with the title of doctor, each one of us invariably becomes important. Yet, bear in mind that although it is
nice to be important ... it is more important to be nice. In that respect, always hold your patients in the highest regard.
Treat them with care, treat them with concern and try not to lose sight of the fact that they are just as human as you.
Ceaselessly respect that shared humanity and be compassionate to those who depend upon you. Make a life by what you

give.
Now that this time in our lives is over, let's embrace a new, more independent period. Whether we know it or not, our

lives are unfolding right before our eyes. Let us be confident that our chosen paths are progressing as they should be.
Therefore, it is my belief that we should be at peace in our labors, aspirations and with ourselves. Strive to make those
around us happy and at the same time keep contentment in our lives.

Thank You for our time together and I wish you
all true happiness and success.

Sincerely,

Robert V. Riccitell
