A MARYKNOLL COMMON DENOMINATOR

Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary defines a common denominator as an n. (1594) 1: a common multiple of the denominators of
a number of fractions. 2: a common trait or theme.

Maryknoll High School is a member of The Coalition of Essential Schools. It thus adheres to The Ten Common Principles. These are
contained in the world-filled posters hung in the classrooms around campus. The Ten Common Principles are carried out every day at
the high school. They are in the Senior Projects, and in the hours of community service done each year by the students. They are present
in the teachers, each with their own gifts.

Maryknoll has another Common Principle uniting it--the Love of Christ. There is evidence of this in many ways: in the teachers who
care about their students, and the alumni who return to campus and visit during Christmas break. It was in the twenty-foot long prayer (
chain in memory of junior Corissa Bueno-Kanei, in the comforting hugs seen around campus, and in Corissa herself. Some may have a
different name for it. Some may think of it as spiritual, but it is a COMMON DENOMINATOR, a characteristic found at Maryknoll. -
