Maryknoll Cadet A c a d e m y ,initiated only
six years ago, has received recognition
both state-wide and nation-wide. Our
National Drill Team has consistently
placed first in the Hawaii Wing for pre­
cision drill and as true representatives
of Hawaii, captured 3rd p-lace and felt
the perfection of first place in the
National Competition. Our travelling
Spartan Drill Team, keeping true to tra­
dition, has gained for Maryknoll many
additional honors on Oahu, Hawaii, Maui,
and Kauai. This is the first year that
the officers and sponsors have accompan­
ied the team on their trips.

Not being content with these accom­
plishments, Maryknoll cadets have also
played the role of international diplo­
mats in CAP in countries such as Turkey,
Venezuela, and Sweden, to name a few,
through _the International Air Cadet E x ­
change. Through other Special Activities
out cadets have participated in FAA, jet
orientation,glider and powered aircraft,
and guided missile programs.

Next year CAP offices will be housed
in a new building made possible through
$28,000 of financial support of Mr. Ben
Dillingham.

It was six years ago that Lt. Francis
G. Gomes gave the CAP program to M a r y ­
knoll. Since then the high degree of
leadership and moral responsibility in­
stilled by this individual has fostered
our cadets on the road to maturity. All
the accomplishments mentioned in this
article leave undone the tribute due to
such dedication for Maryknoll as found
in, six years later, Lt. Colonel Francis
Go Gomes.
