A look of bewilderment is given by Paul
Bedish.

Welcome to the Class of 1988 ... welcome to the survivors of junior year. The Kainalu Aki Jordan Armstrong
junior year is, by far, considered the hardest year of high school at MHS. Taking Alysa Ancheta Pedric Arrisgado
the SAT, many of the juniors, conscious of their future, planned for further
education.

But, the class of 1988 proved they were more than capable of handling the
workloads by participating in extra-curricular activities as well. The juniors
exhibited enthusiasm to excel outside of class. The ceremonial blessing of class
rings at the Junior Debut, was a highlight of the year as well as the transition to
senior year on Class Night. The Junior Class not only accepted the challenges of
junior year, but welcomed new ones as the next Senior Class.

Welcome to the class of 1989 — the sophomore
division. Usually considered a year of mediocrity, the
class of 1989 proved sophomore year can be exciting
and challenging. No longer the "babies" of the school,
the sophomores have taken a stand and shown they are
a force to be reckoned with.

During Acquaintance Week, the sophomores took
advantage of the theme "Sesame Street" dressing the
freshmen as various characters created by Jim Henson.
As in their freshman year, the Sophomore Class was well
represented in Christmas Aloha competition. Providing
an entertaining event, the Sophomore-Senior Brunch
succeeded because of the sophomores' hardworking
effort to give the Senior Class a tremendous aloha.

Field Day becomes a new adventure for the Freshmen.

The, FihIumm C£oM

Welcome to the Class of 1990, the Freshman division. Here at
Maryknoll the incoming Freshmen are known as the “babies” of
the student body, but to our surpirse they’ve proved us wrong.

Beginning with Field Day, you could already feel the spirit and
class unity they possessed. Not only did they have pizzaz, but
they also showed strength. This was proven by the “mighty”
Frosh girls who were victorious during Field Day tug-of-war
games.

As tradition. Acquaintance Week did take place, and instead of
dreading every minute of it, the Freshmen took it in stride. This
proved that they had taken a step forward from grade school to
high school. This class is extraordinary and will definitely have a
promising future here at Maryknoll.

Spirit Committee supported many sports activities this year and promoted a
general feeling of dedication toward Maryknoll with their sense of unity and
pride.
Graphic Billboards Committee was responsible for advertising upcoming
social events such as the Winter Ball and the Brown Bags To Stardom. Their
colorful banners were displayed all around campus to remind students of
important activities.
Peer Counselors were those students who were there to assist troubled
students in need. They also helped the freshmen familiarize with high school life
by organizing the Freshman Camp, along with the help of the Senate.
Senior Week Committee was composed of underclassmen who organized
one week of fun-filled memories for the Class of 1987.
Hui Kokua was a group of concerned students who offered their time and
effort to help those less fortunate than themselves. They took part in many
worthwhile activities such as UNICEF. Thanksgiving baskets, and the annual
HARC festivities.
Credit Union was a small group who served the students and faculty with
banking needs.
Entertainment Committee brought entertaining as well as educational
guests to our school. In doing so, the school was well informed about many
controversial issues.

Social And Spiritual Events Manifest

Maryknoll Senate Assembly, known as MSA, met monthly to
inform everyone of the activities occuring both on and off campus.
They were the link that lay between the students and the Senate.
Marknoil Grade School Retreat Leaders were role models for
various retreats to the Maryknoll Grade School students. They were
leaders of games and activities and shared the Maryknoll spirit with
the youngsters of the school.
Liturgy Committee and Campus Ministry together promoted
spiritual growth on campus. The Campus Ministry Group led the
divisional retreats to promote spiritural growth while the Liturgy
Committee assisted in preparing the liturgies by making banners,
choosing songs, and other tasks needed for a successful mass.
Band consisted of those students who were interested in the field of
music. On special occasions they combined with the Glee Club to
do concerts.
Glee Club is a choral group that when blended with the Band
entertained the student body with musical selections.
