DEDICA TION

SR. MICHAEL M ARIE

From 1953 to 1964, Gr.
Michael Marie, as princi
pal, steered Maryknoll
through progressive years,
'-lie initiated accelerated
academic programs ana our
present rotating schedule;
she improved our sports
program,our physical edu
cation program, and the
scholastic curriculum.
During her time, GAP be
came part of Marylcnoll.

In gratitude, we dedi
cate this work to her.

SR. CARLA MARIE

"Christ our starting point,
Christ our leader and our way,
Christ our hope and our goal."
Pope Paul VI

Dear Graduates,

In your years at Maryknoll High School
you have studied, worked, played, and prayed
in a Christocentric atmosphere. You have had
every opportunity to prepare yourself for the
most important act of your life - commitment
to Christ. Our hope is that you young men
and women of Maryknoll have faced the reli -
gious crisis courageously and intelligently
and have come forth committed, apostolic
Christ ians.

Christ's way is one of LOVE. The start
ing point is love; the goal is love. As
Christian apostles you must above all show
forth to the world the LOVE of Christ.

With Our Holy Father, Pope Paul VI, "Let
us love our world. Let us love those near by
and those afar; lo\/e our own country and
those of others; love Catholics, schismatics,
Protestants, the indifferent; love Moslem.,
pagans, atheists,.... love members of all su-
cial classes, particularly those most in need
qi me ip and support; love our adversaries
- want no man as our enemy; love our own
times; our modern civilization, techniques,
art, sport, our world. Let us love it, ap
preciate ,esteem, serve it, and suffer for it."

May each of you, graduates of 1965,
"love our world" with Christ, your starting
point, your leader, your goal.

Devotedly in Christ,

Sister Carla Marie

As the M*r,Tknoll Cadet Academy
passed s milestone in its short
history one figure dominated those
proud, oast five years. Kis con
tinued perserverance, his untiring
leade ship, and his unfailing loy
alty to the Unit h»ve been carefully
imparted to the more than 500 cadets
who have come to know and respect
him not only as their Academy Com
mander, but also as a sincere and
personable individual, Lieutenant
Colonel Francis G. Gomes.

Leading theia Academy at our
parades "nd social functions were
Cadet Colonel Nicol°s Deimse,T and
Honorary Colonel Gayle Enos. Their
personalities radiated an air of
brotherhood and friendliness where-
ever they haopened to be. As the
wing lenders of the Maryknoll Cadet
Academy, the" set fine examples for
both fledgling fourthcl^ssmen and
experienced firstcl«ssmen.

Throughout the past year, ACTIVITY and OPPORTUNITY have
been the watchwords of the Maryknoll High School Student
C o u n c i l 0 Dynamic "Firsts" such as the editing of the Stu
dent Handbook and the Student Activity Cards established a
trend early in the year. This trend was continued by such
activities as Friendship Week, Leadership Conference, Dan
ces, Parish Luau, Mock Elections, Picnics , Christmas Bas
kets and Pageant, Field Days, and a host of other activi
ties. Legislation as the Division of Powers, Ticketing
Procedural, and Constitutional Revisions were enacted.
Inter-School Relations, in a spirit typifying Ecumenism,
also flourished,. Besides playing a dominant and active
role in the Honolulu High School Association, Maryknoll
High received national attention by being the principal
host of the State Student Council Conference, the H 0A 0S 0C.
Silver Jubilee Convention. All these activities, however
dynamic thouqh, would have proven fruitless without the
enthusiastic participation and leadership exibited by the
Student Council and the Student Body. As learners in this
virtual "Laboratory of Leadership", they more than proved
that: OPPORTUNITY BEGINS WITH THE MARYKNOLL HIGH SCHOOL

STUDENT COUNCIL.
