g# MARYKNOLL SCHOOL
Letter From the President
Dear Maryknoll Grade School Students:
There is a simple line in the Talmud which states, “We do not see things as
they are; we see things as we are.” So, I suspect, will it be with this yearbook. While
it is a document of a year in your life and is frozen in time, you are not. In the years
to come, you will be a very different person that goes through the pages of this book.
It will bring wonderful memories back• to you, but th*os4 e’ memories will be influenced
by the many experiences you have had, the people who have come in and out of your
life, and your hopes and dreams for the future.
But, even as the “new you” looks through these pages, I hope you will be
reminded of some of the fundamental things that you learned while here at the
Grade School I hope you will think of how important it is to work at maintaining
friendships, how important honesty and fair play are in our everyday lives, and how
much we are dependent on others to find genuine success and happiness.
I also hope you will remember that with God’s help anything is possible and
that it is never too late to reset a course, rebuild relationships, and return to the
values that you learned as a young Maryknoll student.
So, I suggest that your yearbook is elastic and will grow as you continue to
grow. Return to it periodically, not only to remember how things were, but also as a
means of assessing how you are at present.
My wannest wishes to you,
Keep making a difference!
Sincerely yours,
Michael E. Baker

1 ® MARYKNOLL SCHOOL
Dear Maryknoll Grade School Students:
In this high-tech age Of digital cameras, it is so easy to capture images that fill a
typical day in the life of a Maryknoll student. Here at the Grade School, at most school
events, the yearbook students were armed with digital cameras, capturing many of the
smiling feces, interesting events and memorable experiences. These students then
downloaded these images verycarefully onto the yearbook computer.
Throughout the year, while the yearbook staff worked on the production of this
yearbook, most of you had forgotten that you were captured by the digital camera. It was
only after the “book of memories” was distributed that much loud laughter could be heard
as you enjoyed looking at the photos of your friends and classmates, and recalled together
those memorable, events. I’m sure you have already flipped through the pages of the
treasured yearbook from beginning to end.
Like many of your parents, I still have my graduation yearbook which I treasure
dearly. When I review the book from time to time, fond memories come to mind.
In your yearbook, you each have a treasure chest ofmemories of your classmates,
events, and special moments that may have touched you deeply on many typical days.
When you have checked out all the photos and filled your book with signatures from
friends and teachers, I suggest that you take the time to review and reflect on the photos.
Study them carefully, for I believe that associated with these photos, you will find a
wealth of wisdom awaiting you, perhaps from your teachers, a religion lesson, a prayer
service or even a friend. Maybe you’ll remember a moment when God touched you in a
special way through an experience, a teacher or a friend. God does work in mysterious
ways, and, it is only by taking the time to reflect on events that we realize it. During your
years here at Maryknoll Grade School, a Catholic School devoted to offering you an
excellent education and preparing you for life, you have received many messages. The
yearbook has captured these in photograph form. Can you recognize them?
To our Year 8 students leaving the Grade School campus, we wish you much
growth and happiness in high school. To all students remaining on at the Grade School, I
look forward to greeting you every morning again in the new school year.
God bless you,
Paul O’Brien, Principal
