Piecing it All Together

Life is full of choices. Where to apply to
college, what job to choose, even the socks
you put on in the morning can be an impor­
tant decision. Some choices may seem better
than others and result in positive conse­
quences. There are also the choices that we
deem mistakes and can have undesirable
consequences. However, whatever choices
you make, each one serves as an important
piece in this puzzle of life. The good, the bad,
these are merely the pieces, the building
blocks. They seem irrelevant once you look
at the big picture. We are, in effect, piecing it
all together.

As we complete this year, everyone should
reflect on the choices made both in and out of
school. There were some who made the
choice to explore different cultures during
the Chinese and Japanese Exchange Pro­
grams. There were some who decided to do
their Senior Projects at the last minute and
Maryknoll's decision to show an outpouring
of support for Hurricane Katrina recovery.
Each choice has contributed to life in some
way by bringing joy or teaching lessons.
Each one has played its part in the memories
of this past school year. No one should
expect perfection but hard work and learn­
ing are crucial. Just remember that each of us
is still learning how to live. All we can do is
trust in God and ourselves that we will take
full advantage of the opportunities that come
our way. May we all create something to be
proud of, piecing together a masterpiece.
