To be uniquely yours, to be close at heart, to remember
dearly, to hold in high regard—this is what it means to be
personal.

Whether you've walked across the playground at the
grade school or just settled as a senior, you're bound to
meet many people—both friends and mentors. We build
connections, memories that will shape and mold our very
self. We are who we are today not from the newest
fashion trend or how many versions of a smart phone
someone owns, but from who our friends are, how we
held ourselves in class, and how we treated one another.

From these critical moments in our daily lives, we impact
those around us. A simple gesture of "how are you" can
mean the world to someone else. Maryknoll means so
much more than grades, its intentions go beyond the
obligatory "good morning." We dedicate so much of our
young lives here, and we can grow, learn, and thrive.
We have potential to do great things and our crossed
paths can make us stronger.

Throughout this year, we can point out the lows and hard
comings, but we should look above all that. What we can
remember, what we can build upon, will stay with us for
all our lives: where we were at lunch, when we chatted
during breaks, when we experienced that epiphany
during class, and when we graduate. Let's treasure

these memories because now it's personal.
