AHC Crystal Spring is a division of Atlanta Hardwood Corporation located in the heart
of the Allegheny Mountains of Pennsylvania. Our fourth concentration drying yard
specializes in red oak, white oak and poplar, along with hard and soft maple and cherry.
We offer 4/4 through 8/4 thicknesses of FAS/1F, #1 Common and #2 Common grades in
most species. We also inventory a selection of other hardwood species from throughout
the northern Appalachian region. With more than 180,000 board-feet of kiln capacity,
AHC Crystal Spring produces hardwood lumber for both the domestic and international
markets. AHC Crystal Spring primarily exports through the port of Baltimore, MD, but
also through New York, NY & Norfolk, VA. AHC also is capable to export from other
east coast and west coast ports.

Alderfer Lumber began in 1993 as a logging operation and expanded into a sawn mill
with dry kilns after 1996. Today Alderfer produces over 600,000 board feet of dried
lumber per year, controlling the quality from the standing tree to the finished board.
Alderfer Lumber prides itself on catering to the needs of each specific customer,
providing them with the best lumber for their project. Being a smaller company affords
them the ability to do this. Randall says "We hate to tell a customer, no, we don't have it.
It’s very satisfying to tell someone that the material that they could not find anywhere is
available here." Alderfer Lumber also provides custom and specialty services. No order
is too small or too large. Their niche market is large slabs kiln dried for custom table
tops, many with figure and/or character and natural markings from crotch cuttings.

1973, and has grown to include TEN sawmills, including our modern mill in Marble,

Appalachian Timber Products has been exporting veneer and export sawlogs to Europe
and Asia since 1999. Their sister sawmill operation Summit Forest Resources opened a
new facility in 2003 with a state of the art band sawmill, with a production rate of 30,000
board feet of lumber per shift. They supply green and rough lumber. They specialize in

Carl Rosenberry & Sons Lumber is a family-owned business, operating since 1920 and

professional forestry management techniques, we harvest our timber within a 60-mile
radius of our mill. Our tree-length harvesting system allows us to cut our logs to length

Paul Buchsen founded Northern Appalachian Log & Forestry Company in July of
1987 to meet the demand for high quality veneer and export logs from a growing number
of international and domestic markets.
We are located in the heart of “Penn’s Woods”. This allows us close proximity to a
steady supply of high quality Northern Pennsylvania hardwoods. This area is renowned
for forests which produce some of the world’s finest hardwood. We specialize in black
cherry, hard maple, soft maple, red oak, ash, and basswood. Our logs are sourced from
public and private landowners: sawmills, and company owned timberland throughout the
region. Our knowledge of the resource allows us to offer and prepare only logs that meet

Woodrich has a simple mission: salvage wood and provide those trees with a second
life. Woodrich specializes in cutting large slabs or flitches of wood that will have
significant character and grain interest. These slabs can be manufactured into unique
table tops, benches or other unusual pieces of furniture. We can provide slabs from 12-
48 inches in width, and from 4/4-16/4 in thickness. Length will vary up to 20 feet.
Woodrich salvages what others discard due to disease or avoid because they’re just too
big. We mill these beautiful trees into usable products for our clients. We have the ability
to cut trees that other mills cannot imagine cutting, because we have the specialized
equipment to do so. The inventory of available species varies greatly from day to day.

The Pennsylvania Hardwoods Development Council was established by the legislature of
the state to nurture the development, expansion, and promotion of the hardwoods industry
in Pennsylvania. The Council includes representatives from every aspect of the wood
products sector in the state: sawmill operators, veneer manufacturers, value-added
processors, furniture producers, pulp and paper producers, trade associations, regional
hardwood groups, and maple syrup producers. Combined, this group aims to support and
assist the forest products industry to develop both domestic and international markets for

Pennsylvania leads the United States in the production of hardwood lumber providing
over 10% of the nation’s supply, has the largest hardwood forest in the United States, and
