I don’t recall ever finishing any of the books we read at school (probably why I ended up in the bottom 10% for English Lit.)

Peter Mountford.
Why?
I know a lot people didn’t seem to get along with him, but I recall that I was struggling in Physics in Year 11 and then he took over
both classes and suddenly Physics became easy for me. I wasn’t working any harder so I can only put that down to him being a
better teacher. When I look back there were some remarkable people at SSHS who really cared about us and our education.

Absolutely, congratulations! We all know now that a relationship doesn’t last that long without lots of hard work.
Incidentally, my wife’s high school had a re-union back in Preston Lancashire last year and her best friend managed to hook up
with someone who she always had a crush on during school but had lost touch with. They both have kids from previous marriages
and are now planning a wedding next year, so never say never.
What is the most, or was a significant event, in your life since school?
My wife’s diagnosis with Breast Cancer in 2000, it opened the eyes of a couple self-interested yuppies.
What advice would you give your kids now that you are older?
Nothing lasts and change is inevitable, that’s not something to be depressed about but to embrace.
What do you want to do before you die?
Switch career’s and work in emergency services. I’m currently a volunteer with the SES.

Marriage, kids, divorce, new partners and watching my nett worth tumble over the last few
weeks were pretty much so so, in retrospect its really got to be rolling my ankle and tearing
ligaments two years ago, on a small stone, nothing is more humiliating, painful and as long
lasting.
What advice would you give your kids now that you are older?
Don’t grow up. It worked for me.

At 35,000 ft. I get between 5 and 12 hours peace and tranquillity, food, alcohol and no kids. If
the question was where do my dependents holiday and I provide 24/7 logistics, cash, medical
and entertainment… that would be at home and every day of their lives!! If I only knew the first
20 years was a holiday!

Gary was also a Scarborough High boy, one year older. We will have been married for 25 years
next May.

Definitely our Family. We have a very tight knit family with five amazing children. Our youngest
has had a lot of neuro-surgery over many years, having been born with a large cyst in the centre
of his brain. He is now a very healthy intelligent 14year old. All of the family have developed a
great appreciation for life with acceptance and understanding beyond what most people would
ever experience.

Do whatever makes you happy as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone else.

Gosh, only one… my yacht cruise from Fremantle to Africa at 19, but the best moment my
wedding day. Despite losing my engagement ring, a violent storm blocking the country roads
with debris and raining (yep, it was an outdoor wedding) it was a wonderful start to our new
journey!

1/. Arise, go forth and conquer.

3/. To be open to opportunity, some times you don’t realise its knocking on your door.

a medical scientist, when we moved to Northern NSW. Was recently offered the Lab managers
job at my son’s school (the senior school) and as it came with 13 weeks paid holidays I jumped
at the chance! Now I am stress free.
