Art de vivre
A restaurant, a cafe or a dining room are more than a place to eat and drink. It is a
social space to share good moments with family and friends. French has a word for
this: “art de vivre”, meaning “way of life”.
To foster the conviviality of your space, you need first to choose with care your
chairs and tables: design, materials, maintenance, weight, stability, stackability,
suitability for outdoor use and longevity. All the chairs we sell are tested and
certified for a professional use.
Then, you need to pay attention to the quality of light. It is a shame that it is often
neglected, because a good lighting make the mood of a space. By layering the

The living room opens out
onto the flybridge, in other
words, the outdoor sundeck
on the stern, equipped with
Vondom designer outdoor
furniture, specifically the set
of armchairs and centre tables
from the Pillow collection
designed by Stefano
Giovannoni. Furthermore, the
sun loungers from the same
range are part of the chill-out
area where one can sip

WATERPROOF OUTDOOR
LIGHTS : THINGS TO KNOW

Style is important, but for an Outdoor Light, waterproof capability is the most important
criteria.

How do I waterproof my outdoor light?

You want your outdoor light to be secure, that means that:
outdoor bulb is waterproof: IP rating is 44 or higher;
socket is safe;
if there is an extension cord, then it should be suitable for outdoor use.

If you buy a cheap outdoor light, your lamp may be not suitable for outdoor use. Indeed,
only the bulb is waterproof but the installation isn’t!

Firstly, check if the socket is safe. You may need to apply an extra silicon seal for your
installation.
Secondly, check also the extension cord, as some are not waterproof! You may need to
buy a waterproof cover for the extension cord. It is cheap, it looks ugly, but safety comes
first!
Last, check every year the outdoor bulb. For cheap products, the quality of construction
is so low that it is not waterproof after two years of use. If you notice that the sealing is
not good anymore, you will have no other choice than buying a new light.
